Stupidocrisy: The Big Tent Keeps Moving Left :: By Bill Wilson

The Democratic Party’s “big tent” is filling up with openly Marxist and communist candidates.

NY Democrat candidate Darializa Avila-Chevalier openly celebrated communist and Marxist ideas on social media. But party leaders largely chose inclusion over condemnation. US Rep Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) defended the “big tent” philosophy. Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) dismissed the candidate’s previous statements and welcomed “new members and new ideas.” Meanwhile, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) stood almost alone in warning that the “dirtbag left” has become openly anti-American.

When your own members are raising alarms while leadership shrugs, something important is happening. And it is—dangerously so.

Then there is this: A recent poll found that a majority of Democrats say they would vote for a democratic socialist and hold favorable views of socialism. Those numbers do not mean most Democrats support communism, nor do they suggest they embrace every radical slogan heard on college campuses or social media. They do suggest that ideas once confined to the political fringe are steadily entering the mainstream conversation.

Political movements rarely leap from moderation to extremism overnight. They travel one small compromise at a time. Every movement eventually reaches a point where its leaders either establish clear boundaries or continue expanding the tent until the tent itself becomes the message. Today, the Democratic leadership is expanding its coalition and redefining its principles. Or maybe it’s been this way all along.

History provides plenty of reasons for alarm. Marxist governments have promised equality while delivering oppression. Communist revolutions have claimed liberation while producing censorship, imprisonment, confiscation of property, and the deaths of millions.

America certainly has its faults, but its constitutional republic has generated more freedom, prosperity, innovation, and opportunity than any Marxist system ever created. That heritage deserves defense, not apology.

Senator Fetterman’s willingness to challenge his own side deserves attention because voices of internal correction often reveal truths outsiders cannot. Healthy political parties police their own extremes. Unhealthy ones excuse them until the extreme becomes the new center. The majority in the Democratic Party are excusing the extreme.

Citizens of every political persuasion should ask where today’s compromises may lead tomorrow.

In Matthew 15:14, Jesus warned of following those with evil hearts. “They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”

A nation does not stumble into decline through one election or one candidate. It drifts there by ignoring warning signs, applauding destructive ideas, and convincing itself that every new direction somehow leads to greater freedom.

America has survived because generations understood that liberty requires responsibility, truth, and moral courage. Those are the principles that deserve a larger tent than the evil of communism.

When leaders celebrate confusion, excuse radicalism, and call it progress, the ditch ahead grows deeper with every step. Say it with me… Stupidocrisy.
