Hold the Line
A report from the Jerusalem Post this week claims that President Trump has agreed to a Palestinian state, in concert with the Saudis and Qatar, among others.
If true, this is a true tragedy. It’s important to remember that we don’t know if this is true, or not. If it is accurate, we have to trust God and not get depressed or angry.
It is clear from every evidence that the Palestinians do not deserve a state, and never did. Thirty-plus years of the PLO murdering Jews and creating constant chaos were always unacceptable. Watching successive American governments—Democrat and Republican—pressure Israel and coddle the Arabs, including billions of our tax dollars, is grotesque to watch. Clinton hosted the serial killer Yasser Arafat 13 times at the White House. The killer dwarf always despised us. European governments despise us and Israel. We are now seeing World War 2-level anti-Semitism eclipsed by our own time.
The Times of Israel countered this report, from Ambassador Mike Huckabee:
“US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee calls a Jerusalem Post report that President Donald Trump is set to recognize a Palestinian state during his upcoming Middle East visit ‘nonsense.’
‘Hmm. @Jerusalem_Post needs better sources than this unidentified ‘source.’ My 4 yr old grandson Teddy is more reliable. And take it from Teddy. This report is nonsense. @Israel doesn’t have a better friend than @POTUS!,’ the envoy’s post on X reads.”
It’s times like this that we need to let things play out. We also know that a sinister and unrelenting campaign of disinformation is sent out by the Media 24/7.
This is a particularly astonishing time to be alive. Those of us that love and revere the Jewish people and Israel long for the day when they will find genuine peace. That of course won’t come until Jesus Christ returns to make things right. Until then, we are to hold the line. Believe God, keep spiritual blinders on and don’t get overly caught up in current events.
Let’s not try to fit tight timelines with prophetic Scriptures. Why? Because we are often wrong, and if we know anything for sure, it is that geopolitics can turn on a dime.
I think Trump is an ally of Israel. He is also just a man, and one whose ego tempts him to do something spectacular on the diplomatic front. Every American president since Lyndon Johnson wants to go down in history as the man that brought peace to the Middle East.
None of them are That Man.
Benjamin Netanyahu has an epic juggling act to work every day. I might think he hasn’t acted decisively enough in eradicating the demons of Hamas. He is fighting them, homegrown subversives, foreign governments, military threats, and political betrayal. But he is the man of the hour for Israel. Let’s trust him. And let’s trust Trump to do the right thing. The President certainly knows what is going on. He knows more than we do. My hope is that he and Netanyahu are crafting a trap for their enemies.
We should also be honest and realize that Trump does not see these things in a biblical view. I’m not questioning his personal faith. I don’t know what he believes in that area.
As believers, and as Israel supporters, we are supposed to focus solely on what the Lord of History has told us. He has given us just enough detail to know firmly that He is in complete control.
“Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.’” (Isaiah 46:8-10)
This is our compass. Not what is going on in Brussels or Ramallah or Amman.
Hold the line. Tell your family and friends that it’s going to be okay.
When Jonathan Netanyahu boarded a transport plane to fly to Entebbe and rescue hostages in the summer of 1976, an Israeli general spoke to him. Netanyahu was stepping onto the plane and turned back:
“It’ll be okay.”
A few hours later, 200 Israeli commandos emerged from the dark of night to eliminate terrorists, and began loading stunned hostages onto planes. By mid-morning on July 4, those planes entered Israeli airspace, and stunned onlookers on the ground erupted into wild joy.
This is who our God is. He has promised us everything will be okay.
Hold the line.
