War and the End

Since I was young, I’ve always seen Israel’s current realities as inevitably tied to Bible prophecy. You can’t have one without the other. The establishment of Israel in 1948 and the Six Day War—when the Jewish state re-took their ancestral land—quickly set in motion the events of the time of the end.

For one thing, those events pushed Israel into an unwanted conflict with Islam, and their friends in international media and diplomacy. (Just this week, we see the moral cowardice and evil of England and France, apparently conspiring with Saudi Arabia to recognize a Palestinian state sometime this summer.)

Clearly, the world is almost being pushed into a final, climactic fight with Israel, in her land.

For many years, at least the last century, Israel has been delegitimized by scores of individuals and organizations. This morning, I was interviewed by Mary Danielsen of Stand Up for the Truth about the scholarly efforts by subversives in the Church to de-link Jews from their biblical heritage. You can listen here, or watch the interview here. I was attempting to make the point that anti-Semitism is a sinister effort to hurt Israel and the Jewish people worldwide, but that all the true evidence points to Israel as the rightful possessor of the land.

The liberal Christian community of the last century, I firmly believe, has given aid and comfort to the political enemies of the Jews by this agenda to erase Israel’s place in our world. This has led to the grotesque battles and wars launched against the Jewish state.

Again, all this is pushing us inevitably to the final conflict. A piece in the Jerusalem Post this week had an interesting slant.

Former Israeli Ground Forces Commander, Major General Yiftach Ron-Tal has some criticisms for past and current governments, regarding strategic mistakes made that have brought us to this point.

The first, Ehud Barak’s personal decision to remove the IDF from the Lebanese buffer zone that had brought peace to Israel for 20 years, erased Israel’s deterrence factor and signaled weakness to the jihadists.

Next, the 2005 disastrous withdrawal from Gaza. Ron-Tal is still incredulous that Israel did that, using IDF troops to physically remove their Jewish brethren from legally established homes to, again, gain nothing from the Arabs in return.

Then Hamas took over.

“He argues that prolonged conflict will only undermine Israel’s strategic goals and that a defined end to the war is critical for the nation’s future.

“’We are in the midst of a difficult and prolonged campaign for the very existence of the Jewish people in their land,’ he says. ‘What brought us to the current situation is not the seventh of October, but the conduct of the army and the state over the years.’”

Ron-Tal says Hamas can be decisively defeated in a matter of weeks, if the political will is there.

“Ron-Tal calls for intensified military pressure and the establishment of military governance in Gaza. This would not only remove Hamas’s governing capabilities but would also allow for the emergence of an alternative Palestinian leadership, one not affiliated with Hamas or the Palestinian Authority.

“’Full recapture of the strip must be accompanied by the establishment of military governance for a limited time,’ he says. ‘During this time, an alternative Palestinian leadership must emerge, either from within Gaza or with the assistance of moderate Arab states willing to be part of the process.’”

Whatever the outcome of that, the world WILL NOT give up its dream of a Palestinian state. This is why Israeli resistance to a Palestinian state will finally push the international community over the edge. The same people that reject the Bible and Israel’s biblical mandate to possess the land are also going to be the same people that come against her for a final blow.

Which, in a twist that will catch the demented horde off-guard, will be administered by the Lord Himself, on behalf of His people.

Keep your seatbelts buckled!
