INTRODUCTION
Today, at the Lord’s Supper, there was the bread on a plate on the table and communion glasses as well. We had just finished the remembrance of the bread, and one was speaking about the cup.
It was then I noticed a big blowfly sitting on the bread. I got up and shooed it away. It then went to a Bible that was on the table and alighted on the end of that. In the end, I got up and caught the fly between my two hands. Very few flies ever get away from me.
I thought on this for a while, and I saw a lesson there. The blowfly picked on the bread and the Bible.
Beelzeboul (or Beelzebub; Beelzebul) means “Lord of the flies” and is a name associated with Satan:
Matthew 12:24, “But when the Pharisees heard it they said, ‘This man casts out demons only by Beelzebul the ruler of the demons.”
Of course, that was blasphemy, but that meant nothing to the Pharisees who blasphemed all the time.
Beelzeboul is “lord (baal) of the dung heap,” and because of the association of flies with dung, then “Lord of the flies.” The name goes to the Philistine god at Ekron, where golden images of flies were known. The name also can mean “god of filth.” How fitting that all these putrid expressions can be associated with the activity of Satan. It all speaks of decay and corruption.

The “lord of the flies” in great disrepute [BEELZEBUB/ BEELZEBOUL]
Baal-zebub, Ekron’s god so filthy –
In stench and pollution he’s dissolute.
Depravity and decadence we see
Where Beelzeboul has placed his influence –
His fly-blown cesspools of impurity.
His sinfulness becomes the effluence
Contaminating human hearts and minds,
That then seeps through men’s lives to influence
All human institutions, and inclines
Decision-making towards uncleanness,
So with time’s passing, what is right, declines.
O cunning Satan, who works unfairness
And pursues it in your glorious form;
Pretends to uphold a false correctness.
For the purposes of this story, I like to think Satan sent his agents (the flies) to come in among God’s people this morning. Of course, he did not literally do that, but the application is strong. Flies stand for corruption and love filthy, putrid stuff. This is fitting for Satan, who deals in the filth of hell, to spread his putridness all around; through his agents, the demons (metaphorically “flies”), he deposits maggots on what is good and bad, to corrupt it.
THE BLOWFLY ON THE COMMUNION BREAD
Remember, the first place the blowfly landed was the loaf from the Lord’s Supper. What does the loaf/bread stand for? Well, the Lord’s body, of course, broken for us. The attack on the Lord’s body means an attack on the Person of Christ. That was one of the very first truths that were attacked by Satan in the early Church. The false teachers, the demonic “flies” of Satan, attacked the Lord’s person, and we had so many of the heresies taking hold.
Of course, the Character and origin of the Lord would be attacked. There was no doubt. It is the number one target in the devil’s firing line to try to overcome it. Arianism, which claimed Jesus was a created being (akin to what Jehovah’s Witnesses believe), was probably the most widespread heresy, along with Gnosticism.
If you want to weaken a movement or institution, then an enemy will go for the core of that organization, or the head of that organization. Naturally, Satan would attack the person and work of Christ because Jesus is the cornerstone and Head of our faith. Things were added to and subtracted from the Calvary work of the Lord Jesus. Formalism set in, followed by ritualism, and those early heresies have evolved into some awful things today.
Christians must be alert for the dangerous doctrines of false teachers that eat away at the Person and work of the Lord. Satan will spread corruption, and so many today in the sleeping church can’t even recognize that. They cannot see what is happening to their churches, or to the ministry in their churches, or to their church’s witness, or to their church’s doctrines. Do they even care?
Increasing numbers of churches are bringing Sodom into the church. That is a monstrous abomination. There are homosexual ministers, and churches that are happy to promote the acceptance of “gay rights” or “gay marriage.” This does not happen even in the animal kingdom where two males cohabitate. Does not even nature itself teach you right from wrong? Beelzeboul certainly has his demonic flies well organized.
NO SURPRISE
For the Christian who knows the Bible, this is no surprise. The Lord has not left us in the dark to be overcome by wickedness that springs on us. No, we have been warned. Most writers of the last days know the predictions made for us by the holy writers so we can identify the last days. The best known of these is this timely one often quoted on RR:
2Timothy 3:1-4, “Realize this, that in the last days, difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…”
The passage continues, but that suffices for the present. Although these evils have been among men from the beginning, the intensity now and speed of these is astounding in our generation, in fact, in only the past two or three years. All that is being incorporated in the education system, but we will do that later on.
Take just one point for the American readers – Go back 10 years, and would you ever have thought you would have a President like the current one; or that your education system would be teaching gender assignment; or that homosexuality would dictate policies; or that incompetence is in full control? Many other nations are no different. Satan’s “flies” are corrupting everywhere.
One more thing is absolutely evident, and that is especially so for older people. Those of us who are 60 and above, even 50 plus, can recollect the “calmer years” when men in politics mainly represented their electorates/divisions and the people had stability and a good amount of certainty from one year to the next. Now those things have gone. It is not a measure of decency that rules our nations. It is wickedness and evil men and women.
Is that a surprise? Again, no, it is not, for a bit later in the chapter, Paul wrote this about the days we live in:
2Timothy 3:12-13, “Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. Evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”
We often highlight the “evil men” part of the above verse, but what about imposters? This verse is actually an interesting study in Strong’s Concordance. “Imposters” is [Strong’s Greek 1114: A conjuror, juggler, sorcerer; a tricky (crafty) deceiver, imposter. From “goao” properly, a wizard, i.e., an imposter.] These evil men certainly know how to juggle the truth and to use deception, pretending to have your interests at heart but are actually imposters. Our whole political system and the corporate world are full of imposters.
The phrase “proceed from bad” in the Greek is [Strong’s Greek 4298: From pro and kopto; to drive forward, i.e. to advance.] That is where we stand right now. These evil men and imposters are driving forward and advance relentlessly. They want to destroy our children and all the institutions of decency. They want to destroy Christians.
As for the word “worse,” we have [Strong’s Greek 5501: Worse, more severe. Irregular comparative of kakos; from an obsolete equivalent cheres; more evil or aggravated.] That word “kakos” means bad, as in BAD.
Driving forward relentlessly today – to become worse next month – and even worse the following month. Those are the days we are now living in, in these last days of the Church age. How we look forward to the coming of our Lord in the Rapture!
Writers on RR frequently quote that passage from 2 Timothy, but it is so true, and we see it everywhere today. Some used to think those verses applied to political leaders, but no; they apply right through society. Evil men are proceeding from bad to worse (and very quickly). In Australia, I identify these as not only politicians (and they are awful right now) but heads of Departments, public/civil servants, CEOs of companies; and the extent of the wickedness has spread like a plague.
The world literally has gone mad. Australia’s Airline, QANTAS, which has now gone WOKE, had a billion-dollar loss this last year, but its CEO, a homosexual activist, got a bonus of 23 million dollars. How can all this add up?
Who is behind all this? We know the world is in Satan’s control (The Lord is in control – we know that – but the Lord has him on a leash), and Satan is now rounding up the nations in a universal conformity through the activity of his flies to bring the world into one. Some call it globalism.
I have been really so surprised at just how stupid my nation is becoming with its insane policies of gender fluidity, homosexual legislation, adoption of WOKE agendas that are just ridiculous, and the destruction of the school curricula for the inclusion of the strong socialism of humanism. Young lives are corrupted by the devil’s agents. Abortion and homosexual marriage are being promoted as the new “in thing.” Aboriginal spiritism is being forced on us. His flies have settled on Education, Parliaments, QANTAS, Decision makers, and Green environmentalists who tout their anti-God humanist environmentalism of socialism.
Is it a surprise to you that this movement is not contained to the USA? Usually, we used to think that strange things happened in the USA and it was part of their culture. No, no longer. As I see the destruction and moves being made in Australia, I am so surprised to find the same things are happening at the same time in the USA and in Britain too. People write to me to share things about their nations, and I think, “They are writing about Australia!” Evil in the world is now coordinated through bodies such as the WEF, the WHO, and the UN.
The purpose of the so-called “climate crisis” (which is not a crisis at all) is to weaken all developed nations except China and Russia, to lead them into an energy crisis and then into food shortages. This will be accompanied by high prices and famine and hunger. Farmers are not allowed to use fertilizers; their use of irrigation is restricted; graziers and ranchers are having to reduce stock because animals are supposed to be producing too much carbon dioxide and methane. Some are trying to make the world vegan.
Why do you think these steps are so much in sync with all nations? Well, it is because Satan’s troops are organized and coordinated. The flies have gone out into the whole world. We read of the time near the end of the Tribulation when the following happens:
Revelation 16:13-14, “I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs, for they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them together for the war of the great day of God, the Almighty.”
John saw the ingathering of all the world’s leaders to prepare their armies for battle, which is the great battle of Armageddon on the eve of the Second Coming. What we have to notice here is that from Satan’s mouth and that of the World Leader (Antichrist) and the False Prophet, three unclean spirits will go into the whole world to gather the nations’ armies to Israel.
That is the same coordination we have today in gathering the nations into hardship and tragedy. It is masterminded by Satan. Paul used the words “difficult times” in 2Timothy 3:1 when speaking of the last days (our days right now – last days of the Church age). The KJV uses “perilous.” The word means “times of hardship.” Now, those of us who are older (the ones mentioned earlier) know that 10 years ago we would not have described those times as “times of hardship,” but we can do that today. I am not going to list the many difficult times appearing now all over, as I don’t want to go down that road in this article. I would recommend you read the past few posts from Daymond Duck to understand what is happening at a rapid pace.
THE BLOWFLY ON THE BIBLE
The next thing that blowfly sat on was a Bible on the small table we use for the Lord’s Supper. Right then, I thought, “How appropriate is that? Corruption of the word of God!”
There are two priorities Satan will attack. The first one we dealt with – the Person and Character of the Lord Jesus. The second one will be the Bible. Satan hates the word of God because God’s word is truth. Any destruction or adulteration or distortion of the Bible is his objective.
You remember, right back at Eden…
Genesis 3:1 “Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made, and he said to the woman, ‘Indeed, has God said, “You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”
The very beginning of the lie was a doubt cast in Eve’s mind. Satan won’t come in the first instance and contradict. He comes with doubt. He questions.
In the 1700s and 1800s, there arose men who began to cast doubt on the Bible, rationalists and liberal theologians, who raised “possibilities” that this or that might not be true. These things, like the germ of an infection, started to take hold. People began to listen.
Again, in Eden, once Satan caught Eve’s attention with a doubt, then came the outright contradiction:
Genesis 3:4, “The serpent said to the woman, ‘You surely shall not die!”
At that point, all Eve’s resistance was gone. So, in the 1800s, along came Darwin with his anti-God humanism of evolution. Well, the Bible HAD to be wrong in the matter of human evolution, and therefore it had to be wrong in everything else!
The Bible has been under attack by Beelzeboul’s flies doing their work of pollution and corruption, planting maggots of rationalism and skepticism and doubt and mockery upon the Bible. Today, most people dismiss the Bible as meaningless to them, a collection of fables and myths, even dangerous to young minds because it opposes homosexuality and supports an out-of-date morality.
You see the great fortresses of satanic attack in universities and other places of higher learning. You see it in academic institutions, in the realm of psychologists and entertainers. The corruption of God’s word is everywhere because the demonic flies are powerful agents of Beelzeboul himself.
Satan’s corruption has spread to all areas of human existence. It has corrupted art from once great beauty into garbage that poses as art. It has corrupted music from the wonderful compositions of men and women who recognized God to a mindless cacophony of demonic screaming, exhibitionism, and polluted lyrics. Literature has been corrupted from the great thoughts of disciplined writers like Shakespeare and English poets and authors (other languages too) to become trashy, lurid junk productions, which in turn pollute the minds of others. Satan’s “flies” have deposited their maggots well.
I won’t even start on films! One of the blackest areas of this corruption has been in education. Schools have become the dispensing place for a sick morality in the teaching of sexuality. In some places, children as low as 10 years of age are told to go out and experiment with their sexuality, where any sexual behavior is considered normal. Gender fluidity is rammed down young throats…. It is too sick to go on.
The communications industry is the largest dissemination of information today, and rightly has the Bible called Satan “the prince and power of the air” (airways.) The tripod legs of communication are Television, Radio, and Newspapers. Do I really have to mention to Australian Christians the ABC, both radio and television; The Sydney Morning Herald; the Melbourne Age, and a host of others?
Do I have to mention to American Christians CNN, The Washington Post, The New York Times, MSNBC, Huffington Post, and many others? They are all in the devil’s playpen.
I could fill many volumes if all the corrupted aspects of human existence that have been fly-blown were listed. What about the legal system and the police? However, that is not the end!
AND THE POLLUTER DIES
As I said at the beginning, I carefully moved towards that fly. And suddenly, my hands came together, and that fly was no more. Yes! Satan will be no more an influence for evil. The day is coming when he will be snapped by the hands of God and sent to his rightful place. Here is the account of that:
Revelation 20:9-10, “They came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
Meanwhile, the world groans on in polluted corruption waiting for its redemption when all living creatures will be at peace in God’s care.
Romans 8:19-22, “The anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but because of Him who subjected it – in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.”
Satan was defeated at the cross but still squirms in his corruption. However, eternity will separate the good from the bad. The bad is in the lake of fire. That will include ALL his “flies” – those agents of his in their demonic evil serving of “the lord of the flies.”
