I realize that this article may not be one of my most popular. I have wanted to write it for a long time, but because of the controversial nature of what I am going to say – I have procrastinated.
This has been on my heart so heavily in the past few days. I believe that the Lord spoke to my heart that it is time.
The Temptation in the Garden of Eden
“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, ‘Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?
“And the woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’
“Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’
“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, ‘Where are you?’
“So he said, ‘I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.’
“And He said, ‘Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?’
“Then the man said, ‘The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.’
“And the Lord God said to the woman, ‘What is this you have done?’
“The woman said, ‘The serpent deceived me, and I ate.’
“So the Lord God said to the serpent: ‘Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle,
and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.’
“To the woman He said: ‘I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.’ (emphasis added)
“Then to Adam He said, ‘Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’:
“Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return’” (Genesis 3:1-19).
Brethren, I know that we have read this passage of Scripture so many times. But I believe that there are truths in these words which clearly show the dynamic between men and women, and how this has affected all of history up to these last days.
When God said to Eve “Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you,” God was not speaking of a physical desire in this instance. He was telling Eve that she would desire to rule over Adam, but that Adam would rule over her.

Question: “How is a woman’s desire for her husband a curse” (Genesis 3:16)?
Answer: As God pronounces judgment on Eve for her part of the transgression in Eden, He says, “Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you” (Genesis 3:16). This verse causes some puzzlement. It would seem that a woman desiring her husband would be a good thing, and not a curse.
The Hebrew phrase in question does not include a verb and is literally translated “toward your husband your desire.” Since this judgment is predictive, the future tense verb “will be” is added for clarity: “Your desire will be for your husband.” The most basic and straightforward understanding of this verse is that woman and man would now have ongoing conflict. In contrast to the ideal conditions in the Garden of Eden and the harmony between Adam and Eve, their relationship, from that point on, would include a power struggle. The NLT translation makes it more evident: “You will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.”
God is saying that Eve would desire to rule over her husband, but her husband would instead rule over her. Replacing the mutually interdependent relationship the Lord had created was a desire for one spouse to lead the other. Sin had wrought discord. The battle of the sexes had begun. Both man and woman would now seek the upper hand in marriage. The man who was to lovingly care for and nurture his wife would now seek to rule her, and the wife would desire to wrest control from her husband.
It is important to note that this judgment only states what will take place. God says that man and woman will live in conflict and their relationship will become problematic. The statement “he shall rule over you” is not a biblical command for men to dominate women.
In the New Testament, God affirms His ideal relationship between man and woman in marriage. Christ-like qualities are emphasized. What the curse of sin created, believers in Christ are called to correct by living according to God’s Spirit. Ephesians 5 says that the wife should willingly submit to her husband’s authority in the home, in essence, refusing to scratch the curse-fueled itch to seize control (verses 22-24). Husbands are to love their wives unconditionally and sacrificially, just as Christ loves the Church (verses 25-30). The whole passage begins with an emphasis on mutual submission to one another: “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ” (verse 21).
From the beginning, God’s focus has been love and respect between husband and wife. Though sin has tainted the original beauty of this relationship, God commands believers in Christ to pursue this ideal relationship between husband and wife, an ideal perfectly illustrated in Christ’s relationship with the Church. -source
This Sinful World
When God pronounced the curses which would now come upon men and women, this was certainly not his Perfect Will. Adam and Eve had perfection in the Garden until Eve was deceived by the devil and disobeyed God. Eve confessed that she was deceived.
Adam sinned willfully and ate from the tree when Eve offered it to him. I always wonder if the love he had for the woman God had given him became a stumbling block for Adam. The Word does not say that Adam was deceived. It only says that he ate.
Jezebel
King Ahab and Queen Jezebel served as leaders of the northern kingdom of Israel during a time of much evil in the land. King Ahab was an Israelite king who married a Sidonian woman named Jezebel and became involved in worshiping Baal, the god of her people. Ahab built a house to Baal in the capital city of Samaria and made an Asherah pole as a tool of pagan worship. We are told, “Ahab did more to provoke the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him” (1 Kings 16:33).
Jezebel was likewise known for her evil actions. She was the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians. After her marriage to Ahab, her first recorded action was cutting off the prophets of the Lord (1 Kings 18:4). Obadiah, a God-fearing officer in Ahab’s court, noted that Jezebel killed many prophets, despite Obadiah’s efforts to save them: “Has it not been told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the LORD, how I hid a hundred men of the LORD’s prophets by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water?” (1 Kings 18:13–14). Certainly, Jezebel from the Bible was an extreme case of a woman wanting to rule and reign. I have heard many use the expression “Jezebel spirit” as they speak of a woman who asserts her authority over men, over women – over everyone.
In Revelation 2:20 Jezebel’s reputation lives on as Jesus speaks against the church at Thyatira: “But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.” The woman’s name in Thyatira was probably not literally “Jezebel,” but her immorality and idolatry in preying upon God’s people was very Jezebel-like.
Both Ahab and Jezebel were leaders of God’s people who forsook the Lord and served other gods. The royal couple earned a reputation for sin and violence, and they both suffered violent deaths as part of God’s judgment on their actions. source
Fast forward to present times
Do you remember in the 1960’s when the Feminist movement really took off? Gloria Steinem and Bella Abzug along with many other feminists burned their bras and told women that they didn’t need men any longer.
These women encouraged mothers to get out of their kitchens – let someone else care for their children, because they should be in boardrooms across the nation. They told women that being a homemaker was demeaning and things were going to change.
I remember when this was happening. Men did not know how to act anymore. They were unsure of their role in the home. They were afraid to open a door for women, fearing they would be read the riot act! My husband always holds doors for me and opens the car door. I love it!
Margaret Sanger
Do you remember Margaret Sanger? The Leftist liberals worship her memory and even give a “Margaret Sanger” award each year. Hillary Clinton received it. What did Margaret Sanger do? She started Planned Parenthood – she was a eugenicist. She organized what was known as the “Negro Protect.” She recruited Black ministers to come on board with her. Her plan was to place Planned Parenthood clinics on many street corners of predominantly Black neighborhoods.
Sanger brought the Black ministers along with her to make everything look “kosher.” After all, she didn’t want the Black communities to actually understand that she wanted to bring the Black population down substantially. She was a RACIST. She was an evil woman.
Madalyn Murray O’Hair
Do you remember Madalyn Murray O’Hair? Back in the 1960’s, she was successful in getting all prayer taken out of schools. She and one of her children died a grisly death and were found years later.
I remember reciting the Lord’s Prayer in school. There I was, a Jewish kid, but I must say that saying that prayer in the morning in school was the highlight of my day!
Women pastors
Brethren, have you noticed that in the mainline denominations, there are actually more women pastors than men? Look up the Methodist church and the Presbyterian Church USA – you will see.
And what do the mainline churches (dead churches) believe in? They HATE Israel. They affirm abortion and gay marriage and transgenderism. Can you say Deceived?
Even the Evangelical churches have famous (infamous) women pastors. Think about Beth Moore and Joyce Meyer’s errant and often heretical teachings!
I wrote an article a couple of years ago about a time then hubby and I visited a Baptist church. We found out the head pastor ordained women as pastors in that church.
That morning they were having baby dedications. There was a woman pastor blessing the babies. Then they presented to the parents – NOT a Bible, but the book Jesus Calling! We never went back.
Abortion
Are you as sickened as I am when you see thousands of women marching for the right to kill their unborn babies? The leaders of the Pro-Death movement are telling women to be proud of their abortions – to “shout” about them. This is so satanic, it is almost beyond belief. These women are so deceived – they follow a person like Linda Sarsour, a Muslim who would NEVER consider aborting her child. But she became the Pied Piper for the “Women’s” movement.
The Pro-Death leaders also speak for the women who follow them, and say that women do not regret their abortions. This is just not true. Look at Silent No More Awareness website and you will see many women who grieve over their abortions.
The Bible is Clear about Pastors Being Men
The Word says that women should not have authority over men in the church. But you say to me, “Jesus said that we are all equal.” Yes – we are equal in His eyes but we have different roles.
“The older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things—that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed” (Titus 2:3-5).
In marriage, the covering of the woman is her husband. His covering is Jesus. I will tell you right now that I have fought those feelings of desiring to be in control in my marriage. But then my husband and I will go back to the Word, and I will realize that this is my sinful flesh trying to gain control. Am I saying that husbands should be mean-spirited towards their wives? Of course not!
When my husband and I look back into God’s Word, we both realize that the Lord wants us to be kind and respectful to one other. But I immediately remember that my husband is my covering. Sometimes as we talk things over, he will see points which I have made and take them into consideration. Anyway, we go before the Lord; and invariably I will see wisdom in my husband, and I will submit to him.
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her” (Ephesians 5:25).
“Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband” (Ephesians 5:33).
“I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control” (1 Timothy 2:8-15).
As I said in the beginning of this piece, I know that there will be readers who are not enthralled with the content of this article.
I consider myself a writer of truth. The ONLY place where Truth is to be found is from the Word of God.
If you feel that I have been somehow “unfair” to women, please go before the Lord and ask Him to show you Truth from His Holy Word.
