“Objectivity Has Got to Go”

For about as long as I’ve been operating RR, I’ve written many times about how the mainstream media has a leftist bias. For the vast majority of this time, the press has told the lie that they have no agenda and that they are fair in covering the news. In the past few years, the liberal media has become more open about their political views.

They have reached the point where they think it’s bad journalism to hold to the principles of objectivity. They have a monopoly on truth, so it’s harmful to listen to people that mainly have an opposing view. Now, former executive editor for The Washington Post Leonard Downie Jr. and former CBS News President Andrew Heyward have released the results of their interviews with over 75 media leaders and concluded that objectivity is now considered reactionary and dangerous. Emilio Garcia-Ruiz, editor-in-chief at the San Francisco Chronicle, said it plainly: “Objectivity has got to go.”

Writers, editors, commentators, and academics have embraced rising calls for censorship and speech controls, including President Joe Biden and his key advisers. This movement includes academics rejecting the very concept of objectivity in journalism in favor of open advocacy.

Columbia Journalism Dean and New Yorker writer Steve Coll decried how the First Amendment right to freedom of speech was being “weaponized” to protect disinformation. In an interview with The Stanford Daily, Stanford journalism professor, Ted Glasser, insisted that journalism needed to “free itself from this notion of objectivity to develop a sense of social justice.”

He rejected the notion that journalism is based on objectivity and said that he views “journalists as activists because journalism at its best — and indeed history at its best — is all about morality.”

Thus, “Journalists need to be overt and candid advocates for social justice, and it’s hard to do that under the constraints of objectivity.”

In a piece entitled, “Newsrooms that move beyond ‘objectivity’ can build trust,” the Washington Post admits the concept of objectivity is dead. Not, curiously, because it’s a faulty one, but because the current practitioners of journalism are too stupid to understand why it was important in the first place.

The Post writes, “increasingly, reporters, editors, and media critics argue that the concept of journalistic objectivity is a distortion of reality. They point out that the standard was dictated over decades by male editors in predominantly White newsrooms and reinforced their own view of the world.”

The ban on objectivity means that Republicans are not going to be allowed to express their opinions in major newspapers controlled by the left. The staff of the New York Times went into riot mode when an opinion editor gave the green light for Senator Ted Cruz to write an opinion piece for the opinion page. The editor was fired for granting Cruz a voice in the leftist rag.

While the left is turning objectivity into a dirty word, it’s invented a new term, ‘bothsidesism.’ You cannot pursue the truth if you let the opposing side speak. They claim the only way to address issues of race, the treatment of women, LGBTQ+ rights, income inequality, and climate change is with the sole message from the leftist playbook. Any view that cannot stand up to any amount of criticism by nature must be a very weak one.

It is insane to have news organizations advocating that reports should be guided by their personal feelings or opinions. We don’t send people to prison because they look guilty. We convict people based on the weight of evidence placed on the scales of justice. The liberal media thinks we should place our thumbs on the scale to determine truth.

A century ago, many doctors thought that radium promoted good health. When the element decays, it gives off a huge amount of energy, and people assumed that energy could be applied to the human body. If people got sick from having been exposed to radium, some took more of the toxic drink. What killed the idea that radium was good for you is the objective truth of a guy’s jaw falling off from drinking several bottles laced with the element. Many of his bones developed holes, and he died a gruesome death.

I always had this thought experiment where I imagined going back in time and having conversations with myself about how things have changed. The Todd Strandberg of 2000 AD would not comprehend how the people of this time were able to make objectivity an evil practice. The Bible warns that mankind will become more depraved as we get closer to the rapture. The world has perverted the meaning of many words over the years. So when they add objectivity to the list, we know the end must be near.

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).

Heaven’s Homecoming Highlights!

My friend Jonathan Brentner and I are set on a book project we call HEREAFTER. Its subtitle at this point is Heaven’s Children in Eternal GloryConsidering the lateness of the hour, prophetically speaking, we believe it will be an excitingly appropriate volume for believers—especially for those who view Bible prophecy from the pre-Trib perspective.

The title came to me upon remembering the late, great broadcaster Paul Harvey’s words regarding some dental product he promoted: “If you want to keep your pearly whites from here to hereafter, you need [whatever that product was].”

The older we get, perhaps the more we can understand what Paul was talking about in his own unique way of expressing a truth. The Bible tells us that, in old age, “the grinders are few” (Ecclesiastes 12:3). Our teeth—like the rest of us—fall victim to the accumulating years.

Paul Harvey professed to be a believer in Christ for salvation. Thus, by “hereafter,” he was referring to that magnificent sphere to which believers ascend instantaneously when we finish our work/journey in this foreign land we call “earth.”

“Hereafter,” therefore, is the one topic that should draw our attention. This life is but a vapor, as Scripture says. Eternity is, well, forever. Heaven is our real home.

With this in mind, I’d like us to think a bit on something. Jonathan and I both believe strongly that most believers alive now will experience the Rapture of the Church when Christ calls. So we could be transported into that realm at any moment—a thrilling prospect to consider!

It is sad that many pastors in churches today don’t dwell to any extent upon this thrilling prospect. Truly understanding our future in considering our “hereafter” can move us into life more abundant, as Jesus promised.

Those who are blessed to come to this understanding of the heavenly promises that await have many questions. I considered that, by researching those questions, we might get at least some small idea of that glorious future in the presence of our Lord. The following are a few attempts at answering some of the questions believers would like addressed.

  1. Why won’t we be bored in Heaven?

As children, we sometimes view Heaven as a boring place. This is the view of many older believers as well. Some imagine Heaven as possibly an endless church service we’ll attend while checking our heavenly watches to see how much longer until we can go to lunch.

But things will be nothing like that. Worship will be action. We will explode with the desire to serve as we are expected to do as believers here in this temporal life. Our heavenly desires will be greatly magnified when we are in our eternal home.

This powerful drive to serve will involve love and work. We are told to love the Lord with all our heart and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We will spend eternity interacting with our brothers and sisters in ways that will no doubt involve love for each other and work that uplifts us and them with spectacular, ever-ascending positive results for our efforts. We will experience fulfillment individually and together in carrying out God’s holy will—dynamic activity that is beyond our imagination in the confines of our finite understanding.

  1. Will we know family and friends like we do here on earth?

I like the way one teacher put it:

Just as Jesus on earth loved each person differently and specially—he did not love John as he loved Peter, because John was not Peter—so we are designed to love people specially. There is no reason why this specialness should be removed rather than added to in eternity. Our family and special friends will always be our family and special friends. In this life, a child begins to learn to love by loving mother, then father, then siblings, then pets. The concentric circles of love are then gradually expanded, but the beginning lessons are never abandoned. There is no reason to think God rips up this plan in Heaven. (Tough Questions Christians Ask, book by Christianity Today, author of comment Peter Kreeft, professor of philosophy, Boston University)

  1. How can I be happy in Heaven if someone I loved deeply on earth doesn’t make it there?

We know that the Bible tells us:

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Revelation 21:4).

While some interpret this as occurring only after the new heavens and new earth have been created, the fact that Heaven is perfection no doubt applies the moment we leave this earth and are at home with our Lord.

From our perspective now, to lose anyone we love because they won’t believe for salvation is heart-wrenching. But we will have the mind of Christ at the moment we are with Him eternally. He tells us He will have to say to the unbeliever, “I never knew you.” This is not just a judicial advisory on the part of the Lord. It means He will forget for eternity the individual who has never come to Him.

Truly we can’t understand this at present, but when we have the mind of Christ and see Him as He is, we will be like Him. We, too, will have the ability to forget, just as God has that ability. This isn’t a pleasant thought right now, but we will understand it all by and by.

There are many questions we could address from Christians wanting to know about the hereafter. Jonathan and I are trying to touch on many in our upcoming book. Suffice it to say that Paul’s words, inspired by the Holy Spirit, should be a powerful stimulant for all believers while we look forward to Christ’s any-moment call to us in the Rapture.

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10).

Living In Biblical Times :: By Daymond Duck

On Jan. 26, 2023, Tim Moore, CEO and Senior Evangelist at Lamb & Lion Ministries, wrote that Dr. David Reagan (founder of Lamb & Lion Ministries) met a man that said he wished he could live in biblical times.

Moore wrote that Reagan replied, “You do! You do live in biblical times! Open your eyes and see!”

The Bible teaches that:

  • Only God knows the day or the hour of our Lord’s return (Matt. 24:36).
  • Those who watch can know when it is near (Luke 21:28).
  • Those who watch can see the day approaching (Heb. 10:25).

According to the Bible, Jesus will come to this earth twice (called the first coming as a Lamb and a Second Coming as a Lion).

The Scriptures record hundreds of prophecies about the first coming of Jesus and hundreds more about the Second Coming of Jesus.

I had the great honor of being interviewed by Tim Moore, David Reagan, and Nathan Jones on Lamb & Lion’s Christ in Prophecy TV program a few years ago, and they seemed fascinated when I told them my grandson was interviewed on a TCT-TV program discussing the Book of Revelation when he was eight years old.

My grandson was asked if adults can understand the Book of Revelation, and his reply was, “If an eight-year-old kid can understand the Book of Revelation, an adult can understand it.”

Paul said, “God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty” (I Cor. 1:27).

There are thousands of people with multiple degrees that God could have chosen for that TCT-TV interview discussing the Book of Revelation, but He chose an eight-year-old boy.

Reagan got it right, “You do live in biblical times! Open your eyes and see!”

(Note: Today, there are plenty of resources available for a person to get a good understanding of most of the Book of Revelation, IF THEY WANT TO).

Here are a few signs that we are living in biblical times today.

One, concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: on Jan. 31, 2023, it was reported that U.S. Sec. of State, Antony Blinken, visited Israel and said Russia and Iran are on a “two-way street.”

Blinken said, “Russia is supplying sophisticated weapons to Iran,” and Iran is supplying drones to Russia to “kill innocent Ukrainian civilians.”

These two nations, which were once enemies, are constantly growing closer together, just as the Bible says.

Two, also concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: Israel has been sending supplies (blankets, first aid supplies, ambulances, etc.) to Ukraine but not weapons because Russia has troops and weapons in Syria that could be used to retaliate against Israel.

When U.S. Sec. of State Antony Blinken visited Israel on Jan. 31, 2023, Blinken urged Israel to do more to support the security of Ukraine.

On Feb. 2, 2023, Russia warned Israel against arming Ukraine.

A Russian spokesperson said, “Any attempts – implemented or even unrealized but announced for the supply of additional, new or some other weapons – lead and will lead to an escalation of this crisis. And everyone should be aware of this.”

It is interesting that Bible prophecy says Israel will have a great army at the end of the age, and the U.S. is asking Israel to do more to support Ukraine.

Why does NATO, the U.S. military, the EU, and Ukraine need Israel’s help?

Three, concerning wars and rumors of wars: Muslims have stepped up terrorist attacks in Israel, and Israel has stepped up its retaliation.

Violence is escalating, and the possibility of war is growing.

Four, concerning population control and abortion (the murder of children): on Jan. 30, 2023, U.S. Sec. of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra, said government looks for scientists and professionals that can give them a reason to declare emergencies.

Becerra said he is considering the possibility of declaring a public health emergency to promote abortion.

At the World Health Organization Assembly meeting on May 21-30, 2023, there will be a vote to make recent World Economic Forum (WEF) proposals global law.

If approved, one of those proposals will empower the head of the WHO (Director Gen. Tedros) to declare emergencies and regulate the healthcare of everyone on earth.

If one individual, such as Becerra or Tedros, is empowered to declare emergencies to promote a political agenda, the U.S. and the world will soon be subjected to the political agenda of the Antichrist.

Five, concerning a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and tracking all buying and selling: in an article on the Exposé site on Feb. 3, 2023, Rhoda Wilson wrote, “The ‘pandemic’ may be over, but the agenda behind the unleashing of one or more deadly poisons and diseases and an even deadlier ‘cure’ is not. The Great Reset is moving forward, and if the populations of Western countries do not wake up, the final part of the central control grid may snap into place – the rollout of digital identities and CBDCs.”

(My opinion: Globalists are taking a 14-year (2016-2030 or sooner) step-by-step approach toward world government. They pass a few global laws in one week, wait and pass a few more global laws, wait, and pass a few more global laws, etc. They restrict the use of thousands of acres of land in one week, wait and restrict the use of thousands of acres of more land, wait, and do it again. It is like the myth of slowly raising the temperature of water on a frog in a pot. If you put the frog in hot water, he will jump out, but if you put the frog in tepid water and slowly raise the temperature, he will sit in the water until it kills him. Globalists are incrementally moving toward the New World Order and hoping that people won’t wake up until it is too late.).

Six, concerning CBDCs: the idea of the world going to a basket full of currencies first and eventually settling on a one-world currency has been around for more than 40 years (Google it).

In 2013, I wrote a book called God Has Spoken (And We Know It).

There were two more printings, but in the first printing, I wrote the following:

  • On March 19, 2009, the UN Commission of Experts on International Financial Reform suggested that the world drop the dollar as its Federal Reserve Currency. This panel (not prophecy buffs or religious nuts) wants to replace the dollar with a “basket of currencies” called “shared reserve currencies.” The intermediate goal of this panel is the creation of ten regional currencies or ten shared reserve currencies, but the ultimate goal is a one-world currency.

In Dec. 2015, Paul McGuire wrote the following in an article titled “MEGA DATA: WHAT THE FUTURE WILL BRING IN 2015”:

  • Now we add another major economic trend, the BRICS nations attempting to replace the dollar as the world’s currency with a new world currency composed of a basket of competing currencies.

Having said this, let’s fast forward to Feb. 4, 2023, and an article by Zero Hedge titled, “A Dollar Collapse is Now in Motion, Saudi Arabia Signals The End of ‘Petro Status.’”

According to Zero Hedge:

  • Globalist white papers and essays specifically outline the need for a diminished role for the U.S. currency as well as a decline in the American economy in order to make way for Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and a new global currency system controlled by the IMF.

While globalists plot and plan for the end of the U.S. dollar and a single currency made up of a basket of digital currencies controlled by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Bible tells us that would only be temporary.

When he arrives on the world stage, Antichrist, indwelt by Satan, and the False Prophet will seize control of the global political system (Revelation 13:4), the global religious system (Revelation 13:11), and the global economic system (Revelation 13:16-18).

All three are being rebuilt to accommodate the final government.

Currently, 10 nations have launched a CBDC, and more than 100, including the U.S., are exploring their use of them.

I am not prophesying, but I believe the Bible teaches that the world will merge into 10 regions (10 groups of nations; called Regionalization) with 10 leaders (called the Ten Kings).

The Bible does not say this, but I would not be surprised if world leaders settle on 10 CBDCs (a basket of 10 digital currencies because more than 100 is too many).

As I understand it, after some initial rebellion by 3 leaders, God will cause the Ten Kings to merge their 10 regions, 10 militaries, and 10 currencies into a one-world government with one CBDC to fulfill His Word.

Will the Rapture be before the Ten Kings rise, after the Ten Kings rise, or at some point in between?

We don’t know, but I believe some of them could soon start coming onto the scene.

Seven, concerning potential corruption and betrayal of the U.S. in the Biden administration: on Feb. 4, 2023, it was reported that Sen. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, has notified Biden’s Climate Change Czar, John Kerry, that he is under investigation for secret negotiations with the Chinese Communist Party that undermine the economic well-being of the U.S.

The committee has asked Kerry to supply relevant documents and accused him of failing to respond.

Eight, concerning an increase in the frequency and intensity of natural disasters at the end of the age, on Feb. 6, 2023 (Turkish time), a 7.8 earthquake (followed by a 6.7 aftershock about ten minutes later, and a 5.8 aftershock about an hour later) struck while people were sleeping at about 4 a.m. on a cold, snowy night about 20 miles from a major Turkish city.

Initial reports said many buildings have collapsed, more than 1,300 people have been killed, hundreds (perhaps thousands) more are trapped, the earthquake was felt in Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt, and the aftershocks keep coming.

Hospitals, healthcare facilities, and medical and rescue workers are overwhelmed.

(More: At 1:24 p.m., following the first earthquake and aftershocks, a 7.5 earthquake struck. Statistics from the first earthquake were up to more than 1,300 killed, at least 5,383 injured, and more than 2,800 buildings destroyed. The report also said at least 473 people have been killed and more than 3,000 injured in Syria. Several nations, including Israel, are sending help.)

(More: On Feb. 8, 2023, the Associated Press (AP) reported that the death toll had topped 11,000 and was expected to keep climbing. There have been 120 significant aftershocks, at least 6,000 buildings have been destroyed, including hospitals, thousands of people need to be rescued, and 380,000 people are in shelters and hotels. A different report said the World Health Organization is predicting that the death toll could reach 20,000, and a third report said people are working in freezing temperatures, and time is running out.)

(Latest update as of Feb. 11: The death toll has surpassed 28,000.)

Finally, are you Rapture Ready?

If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God, who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this.
