Many Preachers, Pastors. Clergy, Priests and Church leaders will tell you that miracles don’t exist today like they did in the past. No Great Flood, no plague of locusts, frogs, gnats, or death of those who did not have the blood of a spotless lamb on the door frame, no parting of the sea, no parting of rivers, no refilling of a cruse of oil, no crumbling of Jericho. “Nothing of that sort happens today” is as much as saying God is dead or maybe He’s asleep. But nothing could be further from the truth, the truth being that God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, as the Bible says.
The clouds in the blue sky are marvelous to see, and they also bring rain when needed. Looking at one another, we can see that we are as varied and diverse as a snowflake, each having our own personality, dreams, desires, and abilities to boot. If the sky were any other color than blue, we would soon tire of it; if the grass were any other color than green, then we probably wouldn’t want to lie on it in the shade of a nearby tree. Indeed, it is a welcoming sight. All the greenery, like the bushes and the various trees that surround us, takes in carbon dioxide and releases oxygen for us to breathe. What an incredible miracle!
This is to say nothing of the various fruit, meat, and vegetables that God has provided for us, including fish and fowl he’s given for us to enjoy.
Mothers have milk to feed their babies, made from the food they themselves eat. Cows give us wholesome white milk made from green grass (imagine that!) Eggs are a healthy part of our diet, yet no person can create one. Chicken can be prepared in hundreds of ways, and eggs are equally diverse. God created some animals for us to train and enjoy, and, since the fall, others for us to consume.
Can anyone top that?
With gifts like these, we can only determine that God is Love, and love is what makes the world go round; there is nothing greater than love. But, since we are created in the image and likeness of God, we naturally try to mimic God and all that He has created – and we fall short every time. Oftentimes we are more prone to cheating, telling lies, deceiving others, and taking what’s theirs – all at the prompting of the Devil.
Finally, he created woman for man – what could be better. A good woman is a precious prize, but where do you find one these days? They curse like sailors and now sport tattoos all over their once desirous bodies. With rings in their noses and lips, they bring to mind the primitive people of the past. On the other hand, a god-fearing woman loves her husband and children and tries to make their lives a heaven on earth. Thank God for a good woman.
Knowing that the things going on in the world are pointing to the rapture of the church, I’m especially concerned about the apostasy and apathy that have taken over the Christian church in recent years. There is still work to be done, especially now at the end of the age, and if there was ever a time to somehow be involved in evangelism, it is now.
And so, you like me, would do well to examine your own life to see where you have failed God and to repent and prepare to meet Him.
BOOK REPORT:
The book Future Jihad by Walid Phares is a must-read – particularly because of the midterm elections. Islam is hell-bent on conquering the world, and we could eventually end up like France or even Britain. There are also other countries being taken over by Muslims in their quest for world domination. If Christians and Jews don’t stand up for our religious freedom, then we are doomed to be enslaved by Sharia.
Walid says the spread of accurate knowledge is not perfect yet thanks to the classical and dominant educational establishment, which is now becoming an isolated bastion of denial. But like water, air, and life, the drive to learn among mainstream Americans and international opinion makers is finding its own way.
By a simple review of recent literature, one can see that there are as many publications indicting jihadism as a terrorist ideology as those that still apologize for it. In three years, the debate has become an even 50-50, where it was once entirely dominated by the apologists; if you compare the Renaissance of America and Western mind since 2001 with the gigantic efforts of Wahhabis and pro-jihadist elite since the 1970s to blur the vision, you will conclude quickly enough that an intellectual revolution is underway; in a few years, what was very difficult to learn and absorb will become mainstream learning and thinking.
Over the past one hundred years or so, we Christians have failed miserably at loving our neighbors and evangelizing them – and so today we stand on the cusp of annihilation. Be it from nuclear war, famine, or disease.
At this juncture, it may be that Islam will overtake America as it has done in most of Europe, and that all depends on whether we begin to engage in tough love toward our friends and enemies.
God is Love, and love is what makes the world go round; there is nothing greater than love.
