It reminded me of the America I grew up in, loved and defended (I thought), and still love, but with a strong dose of “awakening to reality” thrown in.
It reminded me of the America that once was, when it was planted and watered with the Gospel of Jesus Christ that was readily acknowledged as a Blessing of God.
This was the “American Experiment,” and it was the only nation in the history of the world so conceived and birthed in blood and blessed by the One who is the only bulwark against its demise. I believe that America still existed in large part in 1945.
By the 1960s, the Godlessness of America began in earnest and continues to this day.
And so, yes, this time circumstances are vastly different. God has given proof that sin can reach a point where He will not listen to the prayers of unrepentant nations.
It is very sad, but it is reality (Jeremiah 7:16, 11:14, 14:11).
In another way, it is sorrowfully wonderful.
Let me explain without going into all the details of the inescapable differences. They are obvious, but failing to acknowledge them will overload the hearts of those who put all their trust in the American well, and then find that it has almost run dry.
I mean, those who stop up their ears, close their eyes, and have hardened their hearts.
America has lost its way.
What really made us free was the One True God’s Foundational precepts: to reject sin and rebellion against Him and to follow the Constitution that had its origin in His Wisdom and Knowledge. It was to choose the right – His Right, not the slowly decaying “rights” as mauled and twisted by standards? that have been redefined by the worship of Secular Humanism (which has ALWAYS been the ingredient for failure and disaster).
It is actively at work again. Even here, socialism/communism are on the rise.
A long time back in our history, we, as a nation, fell asleep on guard duty. We allowed the enemy into the sanctuary under the purposely obfuscated banner of “freedom.”
That is why the Constitution is under assault, even by some of our own “leaders.”
Are there still patriots in this country? Many. But this time the enemy is not just at the gates but inside the mechanism that was given by the founders to preserve the gates.
“For with God nothing will be impossible” (Luke 1:37). Emphasis added.
That “with” word, it seems, has a present and a past tense meaning in terms of America’s relationship with God and obedience TO Him.
We must ask: Are we really “with” Him? He makes it clear; there is no middle ground:
“He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters” (Luke 11:23).
God expects much from whom much has been given (Luke 12:48b). God and His Word have not ever changed one iota, as He has so clearly stated:
“The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8).
Is He really “our” God, or has America digressed to worship of its own made-up gods?
The politicians have failed to act, and the citizens have waited too long. It is not just the foreign nationals who are to blame. They are acting because lawlessness (as God’s Word warned) now rules each day, and our own leaders, in part, are enabling it.
Politicians ask to be elected. No one forces them. Now they bicker like three-year-olds, and almost every decision is determined by how it influences their re-election chances. Meanwhile, America burns and suffocates. They just want “the power.” At the present rate, that brief spate of power will likely rule over America’s gravesite.
There is a stupid old saying that has never been true: “Laws were made to be broken.” Welcome to modern-day America: the consequences are staggering. It’s the lawlessness that God warned about, manifest in real time (Matthew 24:12).
Much like drinking unfiltered water and acquiring Guardia, this time it’s already in the bowels of America’s system.
Sorrowfully wonderful: The “wonderful” is applicable to those who will have placed all their trust in the Eternal God of creation. The “sorrowful” is for those who refuse to.
“Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’” (Isaiah 46:9-10). Emphasis added.
Fortunately: Any living soul can choose to be one of those who have placed all their trust in the Eternal God of creation. (Please see the Special message at the end of this article.)
God has declared what the end of the age will be, and it can be understood in its totality in the Book of Revelation. It is the sum total of God’s plan that was delayed by sin, but delayed only. He has never abandoned His plan and will soon complete it in Christ.
The sorrowful? The sorrowful part has to do with the exponentially increasing evil, debauchery and debased behavior toward everything that is good, especially the cold-blooded exploitation of children. The murderous practice of abortion. The denial of XX and XY being XX and XY. The absolute insanity of the view of so many people that “anything goes.” The hole they are digging for themselves appears to have no bottom. I could go on and on, but these truths are now inescapably self-evident.
A direct accusation by God (Romans 1:18-32) is ignored by so many who could still be redeemed if their consciences are not completely cauterized.
These sorrows (Mark 13:8b/NKJ, KJV, BSB) are so unnecessary.
The wonderful? Because even though there is no hope in human terms, God will finally bring all this evil to an end by His direct intervention – the only solution to the sorrow and grief that now rules over this world.
Yes, this time it is different, just as the Word of God said it would be.
You don’t have to go down with this sinking world:
Jesus is standing at the door of your heart and your soul (Revelation 3:20).
You can still open the door, but you must do so while you are in your living years.
Please. Please. Take Jesus, the Hand of Mercy and Grace, and choose life.
The special message I promised you:
For anyone who may read this article and has not trusted in Jesus Christ and therefore has no real hope or peace in your life
You can have hope. You can have the peace that Jesus has promised to all who have made Him their Lord and Savior. The peace that passes understanding.
It requires that you come before God on His terms and that you do so in your living years.
And what are His terms according to His Word?
- Genuine repentance (turning to God instead of continuing to reject or ignore Him).
- Confession of sins (that you are a sinner and acknowledge that to God).
- That you understand that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
- To acknowledge to God that you are unable to pay that debt.
- Belief that Jesus Christ paid your death sentence for you on the cross and rose from the grave three days later, conquering death, just as He promised.
- To believe that Jesus is the Way, the only Way, that God has established by which humans may be saved from the consequences of their sin and rebellion.
This is what leads one to the Spiritual Rebirth that Jesus requires (John 3:3).
God has made it absolutely clear that there is no one who comes before Him, under His terms, that will be refused.
- No one: no race, no color, no country of origin, regardless of any previous belief system: no one.
- No matter what your past sins have been, God can and WILL forgive you because He says He will.
- Salvation is available to everyone without any exceptions.
If you put all your trust for salvation in Jesus, and Him only, you can follow that prayer up by simply saying, “Thank you, Father God, for hearing my prayer and saving me,” because we can trust Him to keep His Word. He always has. He always will.
“Truly, Truly, I say to you that he who hears My words and believes the One who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned. He has crossed from death to life (John 5:24).
There are no answers and there is no hope in the world by governments, organizations, politics or politicians. They are incapable of it. There are only lies and deception. But you can have the Truth and the peace you seek.
The answers are in the Word of God. The Bible. If you ask God, with all your heart, He will hear you.
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).
