A major earthquake registered by the USGS as 7.3 struck offshore Chiapas, Mexico, on July 17. The agency is reporting a depth of 15.2 km (9.4 miles). EMSC is reporting 7.3 at a depth of 25 km (15.5 miles). Fortunately, there were only a few injuries and no major structural damage.
