Another potentially record-setting heat wave on the way for the US. Here’s who could be impacted. Extreme Heat Warnings are in effect for much of North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and portions of Southern California, Colorado, and Arizona. The hottest conditions are expected in Southern California. The heat is expected to build over the weekend of July 11 and July 12 and continue through next week.

Typhoon Bavi is expected to pound Japan’s remote southwestern islands also on July 10-11 before smashing into China, which has been hit by deadly storms this week.
At least 12 dead and 23 missing (figure updates) in ‘extremely fast-moving’ wildfire amid extreme heat. Also, at least 8 people are injured in what’s thought to be Spain’s worst wildfire for over two decades. The fire comes amid extreme heat in Europe, with temperatures in Andalusia surpassing 100 F. Temperature records have been smashed across Europe this summer as countries are hit by heat waves bringing extreme temps alarmingly early. Firefighters are battling wildfires in Spain, Portugal and France.
Torrential rains bring devastating floods to a Chinese city and a snake invasion. Around 900 snakes – many of them venomous – are on the loose after Typhoon Maysak swept through the region, causing flooding that has so far killed 39 people. One woman died after being bitten by a snake, possibly a cobra, suspected to have escaped one of the flooded reptile farms in the area, though at least several other people have been bitten.

Health risks rise in shelters after deadly M7.2 and M7.5 earthquakes in Venezuela. Health risks are increasing in temporary shelters & displacement sites after 7.2 and 7.5 quakes struck Venezuela on June 24. Official death toll reached 3,889 by July 10; about 18,000 without housing. Overcrowding, unsafe water, poor sanitation & disrupted health services increased risk of respiratory infections, diarrheal disease, and other illnesses.

Hamas dissolves Gaza government ahead of eventual transfer of power to technocrats. The Hamas government in Gaza on Monday announced the resignation of the so-called “Emergency Committee” — the Hamas-led administration that governs the Strip — in preparation for the transfer of authority to the technocratic National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.
Netanyahu: Turkey not ‘friendly state’ to US, F-35 sale would disrupt Mideast power balance. Netanyahu said he had spoken to Trump about his concerns regarding the possibility that the sale could disrupt the balance of power in the region. He asserted that despite Trump’s relationship with Erdogan, Turkey is not a “friendly state” to the US due to Ankara’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist organization.
As Iran fades, Turkey emerges as Israel’s biggest strategic threat. With the sun setting on Iran’s regional hegemony, despite diplomatic missteps that let Tehran off the ropes before a knockout blow, its military capabilities and web of regional proxies have been severely degraded, the sun is rising on Turkey’s ambitions.
Trump says US will continue holding talks with Iran, but ceasefire is over. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue ‘talks.’ We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the ceasefire is OVER!” Trump wrote. The implications were unclear, given that the White House signaled Thursday it was prepared to adhere to the terms of the MoU if Iran would.
Iran launches missiles at key US-aligned Gulf states. Fox News senior correspondent Mike Tobin reports on the U.S. military striking 90 targets in Iran, including missile launchers and runways, after attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, on ‘Special Report.’
US demands that Iran publicly state Strait of Hormuz is open and Tehran won’t attack ships anymore. U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe the state of play with Iran, said resumption of strikes this week came after a rogue faction of Iranian hard-liners trying to sabotage the ceasefire between Tehran and Washington.
Trump left orders to bomb Iran ‘at levels they’ve never seen’ if he’s assassinated. Earlier this week, it emerged that Israel shared intelligence with the US indicating that Iran sought to assassinate Trump. Details of the plot have not been made public.
