I am surprised sports fans have never come up with a new stadium or arena chant to inspire their favorite teams to do better than their uninspiring performance during the previous game. I might suggest a new chant, “It’s a new day—find a way—new day—find a way—new day—find a way!!! In other words, inspire the athletes to dig deeper within themselves to perform better. This would be an attempt to inspire an athlete to do better mentally and physically than before.
In the 1920s, the famous Notre Dame coach, Knute Rockne, exhorted his players to fight, fight, fight, and win one for the Gipper. This exhortation can apply to Christians as well, to do better and feel better, not only mentally and physically, but also spiritually. The Gipper, for a Christian, is of course our Creator God, and we do our best fighting for Him on our knees, be it in a literal or figurative sense. We do better when we pray to God before we embark on any endeavor, be it a sporting event or any other challenging life event we face and deal with daily in our lives.
Every new day is a new creation, giving us all an opportunity to do better than the day before. Each new day of God’s Creation is a blank page, a clean slate, and a fresh start, giving all of us the opportunity to achieve our goals, get through our daily to-do list, or maybe just find peace of mind. It doesn’t matter how bad we were in thought, word, or deed, in all the prior days of our lives. God’s Son, Jesus Christ, died and rose again from death to make us righteous with God the Father and allow us to have eternal life in heaven. Jesus took all our sins upon Himself and had them nailed with Him to His Cross to forgive us all our sins, past, present, and future.
Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Jesus is our only intercessor with God the Father. He sits at God’s right hand.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Have you believed? Now is a good time.
IT’S A NEW DAY—FIND A WAY By Dale V. Nobbman
Every day is a brand-new day, so find a way to please God today
Seek His Will this day, when you take the time to pray, pray, pray
Then long to do all God’s Will in each thing you think, do, or say
We need to remember that He is the potter and we are the clay
