The Hopelessness of Lawlessness :: By Dave Hubley

(There is a special message at the end of this article for those who might happen to read this and do not have Jesus in their life and are looking for peace and a way to better understand the present-day insanity and confusion.)

First, let me be clear that the “hopelessness” of this commentary stops at the threshold of Heaven. There is not a trace of hopelessness in the presence of God, just as there is not a trace of sin.

That cannot be said of the earth as it relates to human conduct.

The very foundation of this world in civilized and organized countries is (now was) based on laws that could only function properly if there were no exceptions made for certain individuals, groups of people, countries, etc.

I am not naïve enough to ignore that, throughout history, there were many countries, kingdoms, aristocracies, and other forms of organized(?) societies that did not fit the parameters defined above. In truth, there may never have been any at all.

That said, there has typically been “some attempt” to adhere to laws and rules of conduct that were aimed at civility and justice in at least some areas of this world.

If not a legitimate attempt, then at least a façade of adherence.

That is no longer the case, and we must acknowledge that fact. Lawlessness is now out of control. Evil has developed a life of its own.

One of the keys to sober living under trying circumstances is Situational Awareness.

It helps to neutralize the detrimental effects of misplaced expectations and helps us to maintain some equilibrium when faced with reality.

Hope is only as good as that in which it is placed.

Laws can only work if they are applied evenly and adhered to regardless of who they are directed at, or to.

Laws cannot function when there are too many individuals who are willing to break them or who are willing to selectively ignore them. This is multiplied exponentially when governments are in place of, or in addition to, individuals.

Laws cannot succeed if there are not enough people to enforce them, and they will not be rightly enforced when those charged with doing so are punished when they do, or worse, hold certain individuals to be above or exempt from those laws.

We appear to have all these myriads of conditions in abundance today.

We were warned by God’s Word that a major characteristic of the “last days” will be lawlessness.

And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12).

Someone might choose to (obtusely) argue that this was spoken to the Jews, and that would be true; however, I think we are likely way beyond trying to obfuscate or deflect the clear applicability of this warning by Jesus Himself to the world today.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).

I believe it can safely be said that we are in the very last of the “last days,” and God’s prophecies relative to it are all the proof that is needed.

I think the saddest and most obvious example of Matthew 24:12 above is right here in what is left of America.

“For look! The wicked bend their bow, They make ready their arrow on the string, That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:2-3).

There are some people (and they are very few) that are trying to restore some semblance of justice and adherence to the rule of law in this nation, and I applaud them for their earnest efforts. I think they fall into two (somewhat general) categories.

  • Conservative and moral citizens and politicians who do not have a solid foundation in scripture.
  • Christian citizens and politicians who are trying their best to do what God has established as the fundamental plumb line of conduct and behavior expected of man.

In both cases, they labor in vain when the underpinnings (foundations) of the laws they are trying to utilize for the purpose of enforcing the other laws, which have previously been ignored and violated, have been so corrupted that there is nothing left to stand on.

It is like repainting a car that has a rotted frame or putting lipstick on a pig. Hopeless.

In this nation, the underpinnings/foundation of our law is the Constitution. It is not a “living” document as described by some who try to make it conform to the desires of the lawless and corrupt.

It is a no-compromise document based on God’s Laws and written by those who knew the direction that man would take if given the opportunity. It is a remarkable achievement of human endeavor to follow God’s laws and recognized that those laws were/are necessary for national survival.

That is the sole reason it is under unrelenting attack. The Constitution is a roadblock to slavery and subjugation of the citizens of this nation, and it is a stumbling block to the effort to impose a one-world government even on all the other nations.

The Word of God clearly indicates that this evil will be allowed to succeed for a short time.

That is why, I believe, the Constitution will be destroyed.

Why will God allow this? Because America, as a nation, is unrepentant and, despite numerous warnings from Him, sin continues to grow like un-plucked, poisonous weeds in what was once a wonderful and blessed garden.

America has become an abomination to the one and only Holy and Righteous God.

A significant part of the problem lies with Christian politicians who have no understanding of God’s Word related to future prophecy and who only selectively read the Word of God, as well as unbelievers who may be both conservative and moral but also do not understand what is truly at stake.

Things are not going to go back to “normal,” and elections are finished.

Am I saying they/we should just give up? No. I am saying that true Situational Awareness would/should bring about a change of strategy and tactics.

The first of these should be repentance and acknowledgment of Jesus Christ as their Savior (and I mean both for those who claim to be Christians but do not live it, and those who are not and so are blinded to the Truth).

Jesus made a promise to those who would make Him Lord of their lives:

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).

The freedom of God’s Word is knowledge of Jesus Christ and the ability to discern Truth and to be free to apply it in earthly endeavors. Freedom from fear and uncertainty.

I would urge you to ask yourself this question: Under Godless human leadership, is the world improving?

An honest answer and the real solution will have eternal consequences.

Godlessness is like a cancer that grows undetected until it finally manifests and can be diagnosed. Once diagnosed, a decision must be made. If ignored, it eventually reaches the point of irreparable harm.

That is where we are today. Lawlessness is sin, and unrepentant sin is terminal both for individuals and nations.

There are many other indicators of just how far along the world has traveled toward the consequences of this lawlessness in terms of the numerous prophecies revealed in the Word of God, so it is not surprising to see them all converging so rapidly.

They are converging rapidly, as anyone who soberly studies the prophetic word of God will attest. This study of future events (Eschatology) is not for everyone, but it will affect everyone.

Warnings have been sounded and largely ignored.

The immense numbers of already fulfilled prophecies (now referred to as history) are more than adequate proof, both mathematically and in terms of the precise details written thousands of years in advance, of the veracity of the Word of God, as you should expect.

Like a sign warning of a washed-out bridge ahead on a road you are currently traveling; ignore it at your own peril.

“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear and obey what is written in it, because the time is near” (Revelation 1:3).

Now to the crux of this article

Should we just surrender to the evil forces that have aligned themselves to subjugate and enslave humankind?

No, we must continue to resist evil and align ourselves with the God of creation in prayer and in conduct. He is still in control.

We must instead surrender to Him in repentance and humility.

As previously stated, “Hope is only as good as that in which it is placed,” yet it must rightly be expanded to: Hope is only as good as Him, in Whom it is placed.

The special message below is included in order to help in that life-renewing process.

It is my earnest hope and prayer that you will take that step and become a member of the “forever family” that God, through Jesus Christ, is building.

And, then, pray without ceasing.

“But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him'” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Real Hope! Imagine that.

The special message I promised you:

For anyone who may read this article and has not trusted in Jesus Christ and therefore has no hope or peace in your life:

You can have hope. You can have the peace that Jesus has promised to all who have made Him their Lord and Savior. The peace that passes understanding.

It requires that you come before God on His terms.

And, what are His terms according to His Word?

  • Genuine repentance (turning to God instead of continuing to reject or ignore Him).
  • Confession of sins (that you are a sinner and acknowledge that to God).
  • That you understand that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
  • To acknowledge to God that you are unable to pay that debt.
  • Belief that Jesus Christ paid your death sentence for you on the cross.
  • To believe that Jesus is the Way, the only Way, that God has established by which humans may be saved from the consequences of their sin and rebellion.

God has made it absolutely clear that there is no one who comes before Him, under His terms, that will be refused.

  • No one: no race, no color, no country of origin, regardless of any previous belief system: no one.
  • No matter what your past sins have been, God can and WILL forgive you because He says He will.
  • Salvation is available to everyone without any exceptions.

If you put all your trust for salvation in Jesus, and Him only, you can follow that prayer up by simply saying, “Thank you, Father God, for hearing my prayer and saving me,” because we can trust Him to keep His Word. He always has. He always will.

“Truly, Truly, I say to you that he who hears My words and believes the One who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned. He has crossed from death to life” (John 5:24).

There are no answers and there is no hope in the world by governments, organizations, politics, or politicians. There are only lies and deception. But you can have the Truth and the peace you seek.

The answers are in the Word of God–The Bible. If you ask God, with all your heart, He will hear you.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).
