A Glimpse of Glory :: By Clay Smith

When we open the Holy Bible up, we see God’s plan for mankind from the beginning in Genesis to the end of Revelation, his words being fulfilled to the letter. That’s what I call blessed assurance. Nothing is left out that He wants us to know “for now.”

In this perfect plan that we can fully trust, the last book, Revelation, details for us a wonderful “Glimpse of Glory” that we can’t fully comprehend because it is so amazing. We look through a glass dimly, as the Scripture tells us, knowing that one day it will be all in brilliant, glorious reality. Those of us who have trusted in Jesus as Lord and Saviour will literally inherit this eternal Glory and be in the presence of the One who died for us. Did he die for you?

Revelation 4:1-2 “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.”

The apostle John was taken up to heaven to the Throne and given revelations of what is coming upon the earth in the “latter days,” which we are literally in. What a sight that must have been! God told John to write everything down, and that became Scripture; thus, we can believe and trust in every Word. Yahweh (Hebrew) gives us a sneak peek of what awaits us in heaven. The Saints, Old Testament and New Testament, that have gone on before us, now are seeing this as the Scriptures speak. God’s Word is alive and active, even now; it’s not just an old book of myths or crazy writings. It is the Word of God!

We will see Jesus face to face, either at the Rapture or when He calls us home by physical death at our appointed time. I previously wrote an article on this: “Our Appointed Time.”

One day, perhaps today, we will be part of the “cloud of witnesses” who see Him, and there will be such joy that we can’t even imagine now (Hebrews 12:1).

What else did John see? In Revelation 4:4-6, John sees 24 elders and four beasts. These are titled “The enthroned elders” and “The four living creatures.” This is from my original Scofield Study Bible edition. The 24 elders with gold crowns on their heads are Saints, but we don’t exactly know who they are; the Old or New Testament, or both. The living creatures serve the Lord around His Throne day and night.

The elders are not angels; angels don’t have crowns.

Rev. 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

From the beginning to the end, everything that was in existence till now was created by God. He made this for His pleasure and also for us to wonder at in awe. He wanted us to see His mighty Creation. He loves us that much. He’s our Father in Heaven. Is He yours?

Rev. 5:10 “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” WOW!

This will happen during the Millennial Reign on earth after the 7-year Tribulation period when Jesus comes back at His “Second Coming.” We, the Saints, who have trusted Him since “The Cross” on which He died, will be kings and priests, serving Him for a thousand years. We trust in Him and in His Holy Word, and what He has written down here will come to pass.

One day, a new heaven and earth will come into existence, and we will be with our Lord and all the other believers forever and ever. Here are a couple of Scriptures.

2 Peter 3:13 “Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens, and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.”

Revelation 21:1-2 “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”

There are no words to fully describe in any way how miraculous this will look like, and I won’t even attempt that. But I know I will see this “Glimpse of Glory.” Will you? To do so, place your trust and faith in Christ, who:

1- Died for you on that Cross

2- Was placed in a tomb for 3 full days and nights

3- Rose from the tomb alive forevermore and holds the keys to eternal life and death.

Jesus Christ is the only One who has done that, and no other has or will. Eternal redemption comes with believing in Him Who has willingly done this for us who would believe. He did this for all mankind. Some don’t believe or care at all. They just want to live this life of happiness and pain that comes with this life and fulfill their earthly desires. I hope this isn’t you. All of this I have written is true, and these details are faithful promises from God Who cannot lie.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”

Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, Saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”

I encourage you to read the entire book of Revelation, but especially the last two chapters, 21 & 22, to get more of what awaits you that brings a brilliant smile upon your face.

In His Name,

Clay Smith
