Out With the Old – In With the New:: by Clay Smith

Many of us have heard and used that old saying over the years, and it still applies today as far as circumstances that cause a change our lives – some for good, and some not for good.

I would like to discuss in this article the ‘out with the old and in with the new’ that God’s Word speaks of in chapter 21 of the book of Revelation. Presently, we are not there, not even close. Pastor Tony Evans from Oak Cliff Fellowship Church in Dallas, during one of his sermons, said it would be at least 1,007 years from now when this would take place.

If the Rapture occurred today, and then the 7-year Tribulation took place, followed by Jesus’ Second Coming and 1,000-year Millennial reign, that would be the case. I agree.

But what is involved in all this? I’m not going to cover what occurs during this time frame, just what happens afterward according to the Scriptures. This comes from Revelation Ch. 21 in my 1909 C.I. Scofield Study Bible, showing what Jesus has for His children as we go into Eternity with Him. And it’s from the apostle John, who wrote Revelation. John was shown this from Christ himself what believers in Jesus Christ would inherit forever. The Lord gives us a glimpse, a glorious fragment of what’s in store for those who place their trust in His “only begotten Son.” We, the Saints, will go into eternity with YAHWEH and His heavenly hosts on a “new earth and in the new heaven” in the future, according to Scripture.

Rev. Scofield titles (headings) Ch. 21 “The seven new things: (1) the new heaven, and (2) the new earth.”

#1 & 2

Vs. 1: “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.”

The new heaven and earth are gone, not in existence, no longer in any tangible renewed, revamped, or cleaned-up form like a lot of believers hold to. “Passed away” in the original Greek is aperchomai, “to go away.”

It is my belief that “no more sea” means there will be no more sea, oceans, or water on the new earth, perhaps.

Vs. 2: The Holy city, new Jerusalem, will be coming down from God out of heaven. Wow! We can’t imagine that, but this chapter gives us a glimpse.

#3 The new peoples. vs. 3-8

All that have believed and trusted in Yeshua from beginning to the end on this present earth will be here.

#4 The Lambs wife: the new Jerusalem, vs. 9-21

Us in the New City-Jerusalem. Amazing.

#5 The new temple, vs. 22

No actual physical temple. The Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple.

#6 The new light, vs. 23-27

The city has no need for the sun or moon to shine in it, for the glory of God and the Lamb are the light.

Vs. 27 “And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”

Is your name written in this book? Read Ch. 22 before you go on.

#7 The new Paradise and its river of the water of life (Chapter 22)

Read this and be in awe of what God has waiting for us in eternity. This present “Church Age” will end soon with the Rapture of the Saints. Don’t get left behind to go through the terrible Tribulation period. Trust in Jesus (Yeshua-Hebrew) now as your personal Lord and Saviour, and you will be able to be there to be part of the new age to come where righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost are. If you don’t trust in Christ, your name will not be in the book of life when it is opened (it will be blotted out) on judgment day at the “Great White Throne Judgment.” (See chapter 20:11-15.)

Read Romans 14:17 and imagine what’s coming compared to what we are going through now.

Blessings and peace to you,

In His Name YAHWEH
