I Saw The Horses :: By Jeff Van Hatten

Scripture is filled with narratives about horses and chariots, but few have ever realized that horses play an integral part in a rapture. Both scripture and other books clearly show that each rapture witnessed by others was also accompanied by horses. Let’s take a closer look:

Elijah and The Fiery Horses

2 Kings 2:11-12 – “As they were walking and talking, a chariot and horses of fire appeared and separated Elijah from Elisha. Then Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind and Elisha cried out, My father, my father – the chariots and steeds of Israel.”

After visiting two schools of prophets, Elisha followed Elijah across the Jordan and then watched him enter the chariot and ascend into Heaven while fifty of the prophets watched from a distance as they stood by the Jordan River (2 Kings 2:7). When Elijah was raptured (taken up) in a whirlwind, he ascended into heaven in the accompaniment of horses [sûs סוּס H5483] of fire! Seeing this, Elisha cried out: “The chariots and steeds [parash פָּרָשׁ H6571] of Israel.” Elisha and fifty others were witness to this rapture accompanied by horses of fire.

Yeshua and His White Horse

Luke 24:51 – “And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.”

Acts 1:10-11a – “And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel who said, ‘You men of Galilee, why are you gazing up into heaven’?”

Acts 1:11b – “Yeshua will return in exactly the same way as you watched him ascend into heaven.”

Revelation 19:11 – “Next I saw heaven opened, and there before me was a white horse and sitting on it was the one called Faithful and True.”

According to Luke 24:51, when Yeshua was raptured, he was carried into heaven; and Acts 1:11 then informs us he returns the same way. In order to find out how he was carried, we have to go to Revelation 19:11 which tells us that Yeshua returns on a white horse. Therefore, there can be absolutely no doubt that Yeshua was raptured on the back of a horse – most likely the same white horse which will carry him back at his second coming. The apostles were witnesses to his rapture accompanied by his white horse.

Do We Have A Third Witness?

Scripture does not give us any qualifications about the two or more witnesses other than they must be honest about their testimony. Genesis, Jude, and Peter all quote from the Book of Enoch which tells us that Enoch also was accompanied by horses and whose rapture was witnessed by many. Perhaps we do have a third witness, so let’s take a closer look at this account:

Enoch and The Flying Horse

Jasher 3:36 – “Enoch ascended into Heaven in a whirlwind with horses and chariots of fire.”

We know from Genesis 5:24 that Enoch was raptured (taken) by Yahweh. We also know from the Book of Enoch 81:5-6 that Enoch was taken from the midst of his children. Jasher 3:34 tells us that some of the king’s men remained with Enoch when he went to the place where he was to be raptured, Jasher 3:36 tells us that Enoch was raptured in a whirlwind in the accompaniment of horses and chariots of fire, and Jasher 3:27 tells us that the horse paced in the air, waiting for Enoch to climb aboard! Enoch’s children and the king’s men were witnesses to his rapture accompanied by horses of fire.

Question: Do Horses Accompany the Bride in Her Rapture?

1 Thessalonians 4:17 – “Then we who are alive, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.”

Revelation 19:14 – “The armies which are in heaven followed Yeshua on white horses.”

Scripture tells us that there is an army of people that follows Yeshua, all of whom are riding on white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, at his return. Among these people are the previously raptured Bride of Yeshua. Since the Bride meets Yeshua in the air, and returns in the air on white horses, it is safe to envision that when they are raptured, they will be accompanied by horses just as were Enoch, Elijah, and Yeshua. No doubt the people who are the Bride of Yeshua will be watched, too, as they ascend on their white horses.

Conclusions

Enoch was the first to be raptured, and that event set the pattern for all future raptures in scripture – all involve horses. Enoch was raptured in a whirlwind in the accompaniment of chariots and horses of fire. Elijah was the second to be raptured in a whirlwind in the accompaniment of chariots and horses of fire. Yeshua was raptured and carried to heaven by a white horse – no doubt the same white horse on which he will ride at his second coming.

Therefore, I conclude that the Bride of Yeshua will be raptured and accompanied by horses as well. Enoch, Elijah, and Yeshua were witnessed as they were raptured. No doubt, so too will be the Bride. What do you say?
