Losing Liberty :: By Steven Dobbs

“If tyranny and oppression come to this land it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy….. The loss of liberty at home is to be charged to the provisions against danger real or IMAGINED, from abroad.”

—James Madison—

Beginning on that fateful day in September of 2001, or not really the beginning but a major acceleration of governmental intrusion into the lives of its citizens occurred. We as citizens of this great nation were asked to give up our freedom for security. As President Bush finished his speech to thunderous applause it reminded me of the scene from star wars where Palpatine (a senator in the galactic republic who would later become the dark emperor for those of you unfamiliar with the movies) made a speech before their version of congress. The gist of the speech was that terror from within its borders made it necessary to suspend their Republic in favor of a dictatorial style government with emergency powers to ensure safety and prosperity. One senator opposed to the change said,” So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause.” Legislation put in place to secure our borders often infringe upon our liberty. Bills such as The USAPATRIOT Act and the equally chilling NDAA which was recently passed are but two of many which take away liberty.

The NDAA allows for the indefinite detention of U.S. citizens without due process of law. Lindsay Graham a legislator who is for the bill stated,” The homeland is part of the battlefield and people can be held without trial whether they are an American citizen or not.” The majority of Americans, me included are opposed to this type of legislation. However, it appears that our elected officials are unsympathetic to the will and the voice of the people who have elected them. We will get back to the NDAA, but first I’d like to take a moment to enlighten the reader to the myriad of bills and executive orders that have been put in place over the decades without the approval of “we the people”.

In 1962 an executive order was signed that designated dictatorial powers be given to the President of the United States in the event of a national emergency. The president would be able to declare a state of emergency during a time of international crisis, economical or financial crises at his discretion. (Please note the constitution does not give any such authority for a president to declare a state of emergency.)

Executive order #10995 seizure of all communication in the U.S.

#10997 seizure of all electric power, fuels, minerals both public and private

#10999 seizure of all means of transportation including personal cars and trucks, total control of highways, seaports, and waterways

#11000 seizure of all American people for work forces under federal supervision to include splitting up of families if the government sees the need

#11001 seizure of all health, education, and welfare facilities both public and private

#11002 empowers the postmaster general to register all men, women, and children in the U.S.

#11003 seizure of all airports and aircraft both public and private

#11004 seizure of all housing and forced relocation

#11005 seizure of all railroads and all storage facilities both public and private

#12919 President Clinton signed on June 3, 1994 placing all of the above executive orders into one.

All of the above executive orders as well as the many bills that have been passed into law are designed to undermine the constitution of the U.S. All members of congress, the military, and the president take an oath to defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. Compare quotes from Abe Lincoln to our current president.

“Don’t interfere with the constitution. It must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.” -Abraham Lincoln-

“The constitution is an imperfect document which has definite flaws…..” – Barack Obama-

Our founding fathers knew that the constitution and bill of rights were documents designed to safeguard the freedom of the citizens of our great country. Meanwhile both republican and democratic presidents such as Bush and Obama have taken it upon themselves to undermine the series of checks and balance inherent in the constitutions framework. There are some proponents of the constitution around the halls of Capitol Hill. Men such as Ron Paul (TX) and Dennis Kucinich (Oh) oppose any legislation that imposes upon the freedom of the people. My older brother worked on Capitol Hill as Senator Byrd’s deputy press secretary for a few years prior to and immediately following 9/11. He told me how the late Senator from almost heaven West Virginia carried a copy of the constitution in his pocket at all times. Senator Byrd had conviction that we Americans need to stand upon the precepts that the constitution set forth. Stand upon its framework not walk all over it as many liberal politicians do these days. When liberty infringing legislation would be proposed, the esteemed senator would stand up for our rights and take out his well-worn copy of the constitution and remind his colleagues on the senate floor what the document stated and of the oath they took to defend it. Byrd was not just a patriot he was a GOD fearing, devout Christian. This was never more evident than when in 1962 shortly after prayer in school was deemed unconstitutional by the supreme court of the United States of America, the unwavering Christian Senator gave a speech. Below is part of that speech which is even more pertinent today than it was 50 years ago when Robert Byrd first gave it.

“Inasmuch as our greatest leaders have shown no doubt about God’s proper place in the American birthright, can we, in our day, dare do less? In no other place in the United States are there so many, and such varied official evidences of deep and abiding faith in God on the part of Government as there are in Washington…. Every session of the House and Senate begins with prayer. Each House has its own Chaplain. The Eighty-third Congress set aside a small room in the Capitol, just off the rotunda, for private prayer and meditation of members of Congress. The room is always open when Congress is in session, but it is not open to the public. The room’s focal point is a stained glass window showing George Washington kneeling in prayer. Behind him is etched the words from Psalm 16:1: ‘Preserve me, O God, for in Thee do I put my trust.’ Inside the rotunda is a picture of the Pilgrims about to embark from Holland on the sister ship of the Mayflower, the Speedwell. The ships’ revered Chaplain Brewster, who later joined the Mayflower, has opened on his lap the Bible. Very clear are the words, ‘the New testament according to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.’ On the sail is the motto of the Pilgrims, ‘In God We Trust, God With Us.’ The phrase, ‘In God We Trust,’ appears opposite of the President of the Senate, who is the Vice President of the United States, The same phrase, in large words inscribed in the marble, backdrops the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Above the head of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court are the Ten Commandments, with the great American eagle protecting them? Moses is included among the great lawgivers in Herman A. MacNeil’s marble sculpture group on the east front. The crier who opens each session closes with the words, ‘God save the United States and this Honorable Court.’ Engraved on the metal on the top of the Washington Monument are the words: ‘Praise be to God.’ Lining the walls of the stairwell are such biblical phrases as ‘Search the Scriptures,’ ‘Holiness to the Lord,’ ‘Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.’ Numerous quotations from Scripture can be found within it’s [the Library of Congress] walls. One reminds each American of his responsibility to his Maker: ‘What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly and love mercy and walk humbly with thy God’ (Micah 6:8).

Another in the lawmaker’s library preserves the Psalmist’s acknowledgement that all nature reflects the order and beauty of the Creator, ‘The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament showeth his handiwork’ (Psalm 19:1). And still another reference: ‘The light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not’ (John 1:5).

Millions have stood in the Lincoln Memorial and gazed up at the statue of the great Abraham Lincoln. The sculptor who chiseled the features of Lincoln in granite all but seems to make Lincoln speak his own words inscribed into the walls.

‘…That this nation Under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.’ At the opposite end, on the North wall, his Second Inaugural Address alludes to ‘God,’ the ‘Bible,’ ‘providence,’ ‘the Almighty,’ and ‘divine attributes. As was said 3000 years ago, so it still must be said, ‘The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.’ On the south banks of Washington’s Tidal Basin, Thomas Jefferson still speaks: ‘God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever.’

Robert C. Byrd went to join our LORD and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST on June 28th 2010. On that day we lost a great statesman and brother in CHRIST who defended us, our rights, our constitution, and our GOD against the enemies in governmental positions. There are not many politicians willing to do that. Unfortunately they are few and far between and each year we citizens watch as our liberties are eroded.

The NDAA sets a dangerous precedence. In combination with the homegrown terrorism and violent radicalization act it would be a disaster for civil liberties. The homegrown terrorism and violent radicalization act would permit the government to label venerated American political activities such as civil disobedience as terrorist acts.

“We the people are the rightful masters of both the congress and the courts, not to overthrow the constitution but to overthrow men who pervert the constitution.” –Abraham Lincoln-

On May 18th of this year Barrack Obama issued an executive order for national defense resources preparedness, which in effect just reiterated the executive order of Clinton with an exception being that the new order could go into effect not only during a time of war, but during a peace time national emergency. A second adjustment is that the new executive order incorporated the Department of Homeland Security into the overall plan due to not being around during the Clinton presidency. A second and more ominous piece of news involving the DHS occurred when The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has awarded defense contractor ATK with an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement for .40 caliber hollow point ammunition. According to an official ATK press release, U.S. agents will receive a maximum of 450 million rounds over a five-year period. Hollow point ammunition expands inside the target causing maximum trauma while having less inertia than a full metal jacketed cartridge to limit the chances of collateral damage. According to Natural News, DHS an agency that says its main purpose now is to thwart “homegrown terrorism” purchase of the aforementioned ammo is of such a quantity that it is equivalent to the amount of ammo that would be used in seven years in the war in Iraq.

Major General Buford C. Blount III’s testimony in 2004 before the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee of the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives stated that during active battle in Iraq ammunition is expended at a rate of 5.5 million rounds per month. Over a year’s time that would be 66 million rounds of ammunition. In essence DHS purchased more than seven times the amount of rounds necessary to sustain the war effort in Iraq for a 12 month period. The crux of the matter is that according to the Geneva Convention the use of hollow point ammunition is illegal on the battlefield. So, those 450 million rounds of hollow point munitions are to be kept for use domestically.

In Part 2 of Losing Liberty I will show verifiable plans that the U.S. Army has set up a battle hardened combat unit INCONUS military speak for in the continental United States under NORTHCOM which could be considered a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act. It is as if the government is preparing for something. As we approach the end of the church age it is as if you can feel something coming on the horizon. For those of us who are born again believers in JESUS on the horizon is excitement and anticipation of the rapture. For those who have refused to put their trust in the only way to salvation, on the horizon is dread, terror, and judgment. The sword of Damocles hangs by but a thread and is ready to fall at any moment on an unrepentant world.

It’s time for the American people to take notice of what happens in the halls of congress. We need to hold our elected representatives accountable for the bills they support and the laws they pass. Most importantly it is time for us to get out into the hedges and onto the highways and spread the gospel of truth. Many will be raptured. Many, many, many more will be left behind to endure the most horrific and deadly time the world will ever know. It is our commission, our call, our duty to reach as many people as possible before it is too late. If you can reach just one person, that is one person who will not have to endure such terror, pain, and suffering on a scale unimaginable. As a parent we love our children more than ourselves and would do anything to keep them from feeling any pain. Each person you meet look at them as you do your children and do whatever you can to avoid them feeling the pain of the tribulation. That is how our Heavenly FATHER sees them and us as his children.
