“Jesus wept” is one of the shortest verses in the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible (John 11:25). The verse has two words with just nine letters in English.
There are other verses in Hebrew and Greek that are shorter, but “Jesus wept” is the shortest verse in the KJV.
People often disagree over what the Bible says, and this short verse is no exception.
Some say,
- Jesus wept out of sympathy for His friends (Lazarus, Mary, and Martha).
- Jesus wept because He realized sin caused death to come into the world.
- Jesus wept because He realized that if He raised Lazarus from the dead, then Lazarus would have to die again.
Whatever the reason, the virgin-born Son of God, the Creator of all things, the coming King of kings and Lord of lords wept.
This is not the only time that Jesus wept.
Jesus wept during His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem.
Luke said,
- “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, saying, If thou hadst known even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong to thy peace! But now they are hidden from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass the round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay the even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation” (Luke 19:41-44).
Imagine that!
God revealed the exact day of Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem to Daniel (Dan. 9:24-27); that day had arrived; Jesus was entering Jerusalem the way the prophet Jeremiah said He would enter (Jer. 9:9); and the Jews’ understanding of prophecy was so poor that they didn’t know who Jesus was.
They rejected Jesus, and He would reject them.
Israel would be destroyed, and Jesus’ heart was broken.
The situation is similar today.
- “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (II Tim. 3:16-17).
- We have also a more sure word of prophecy, unto which ye do well [would be wise] to take heed” (II Pet. 1:19).
All Scripture, including Bible prophecy, was inspired by God; it is profitable, it is sure; people would be wise to study it, but many don’t know anything about it.
If God didn’t want us to understand it, He could have left it out of the Bible, but He put it in the Bible, and Jesus told us several times to watch.
I wonder if He is weeping like He did when the Jews ignored what the prophets (Daniel, Jeremiah, and others) said.
Ignoring Bible prophecy caused Jerusalem to be destroyed, and it will soon cause the Tribulation Period to come upon the world.
Here are some recent events that seem to indicate that the end of the age is near.
One, concerning corruption in the UN International Criminal Court: on June 5, 2025, the U.S. State Dept imposed sanctions on four judges for their role in the investigation of the U.S. and Israel.
U.S. Sec. of State Marco Rubio said,
- As ICC judges, these four individuals have actively engaged in the ICC’s illegitimate and baseless actions targeting America or our close ally, Israel.
- The ICC is politicized and falsely claims unfettered discretion to investigate, charge, and prosecute nationals of the United States and our allies.
- This dangerous assertion and abuse of power infringe upon the sovereignty and national security of the United States and our allies, including Israel.
(My comment: The UN has transformed itself into a corrupt wannabe world government, and the ICC is just a small part of that. These organizations are a forerunner of the Antichrist’s world government.)
Two, concerning wars and rumors of wars: it has been predicted that NATO will vote at a meeting on June 24-25 to increase its spending to meet Pres. Trump’s demands to 3.5 percent of GDP on core military needs and 1.5 percent of GDP on roads, bridges, airfields, and sea ports so the NATO armies can be more quickly deployed.
It may be just a coincidence, but the increase in military spending is expected to last for seven years.
Three, concerning population control and world government: on June 6, 2025, it was reported that Illinois lawmakers passed a bill to keep abortion pills legal in the state – even if the FDA finds them unsafe – by deferring instead to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The problem with this is that it places the policies of the wannabe UN world government above the laws and sovereignty of the U.S.
It allows foreigners to say what U.S. citizens can or cannot do when those foreigners disagree with the laws of the U.S.
Four, concerning the upcoming conference at the UN to recognize a Palestinian State (June 17-20): Emmanuel Macron, who has been pushing it in coordination with the UK and several Arab nations, seems to have lowered his expectations.
According to Macron, instead of recognizing a Palestinian State, the conference will now focus on determining steps toward recognizing a Palestinian State.
The Guardian reported that certain conditions will have to be met first: a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of the hostages, reform of the Palestinian Authority, economic recovery, and an end to Hamas’s rule in Gaza.

Five, concerning Trump’s negotiations with Iran: the Ayatollah Khamenei has flatly rejected Trump’s demand that Iran stop enriching uranium.
On June 6, 2025, Trump said, “They won’t be enriching. If they enrich, then we’re going to have to do it the other way” (a military attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities).

The reason is unclear, but one U.S. official speculated that it may be a prelude to a strike by Israel and/or the United States on Iran’s nuclear program.)

So, on and on it goes: Iran hasn’t stopped enriching uranium, Israel is waiting on Trump, Trump is waiting on Iran to yield, and Trump’s deadline for a deal expires this week.
At some point, it will lead to the Battle of Gog and Magog, but we don’t know the date.
Six, concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: on May 9, 2025, Worthy News reported that Iran threatened to target Israel’s nuclear sites if Israel attacks Iran’s nuclear sites.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it has obtained detailed intelligence on Israel’s classified nuclear infrastructure, and it is now prepared to immediately counter any Israeli strike by launching retaliatory attacks on nuclear sites in the Jewish State.
Seven, concerning wickedness and violence at the end of the age: on June 9, 2025, protests turned with protestors looting stores, throwing Molotov Cocktails, and attacking the police in Los Angeles because the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials were arresting and planning to deport illegal immigrants (criminals, gang members, child molesters, etc.) there.
Pres. Trump activated 4,000 National Guard troops (2,000 then 2,000 more) and ordered about 700 U.S. Marines to be on standby.
To make matters worse, organized groups are preparing to spread their violence to large cities all over the U.S. starting on June 14, 2025.
They are calling it the “No Kings Nationwide Day of Mass Defiance.”
Their goal is to try to bring Trump down, and they appear to have strong financing from Soros and others.

(My comment: I have read that some of the organized protestors are funded by globalist groups that want a borderless world. They don’t want to Make America Great Again. They want America to surrender its sovereignty. Several Democrats have condemned Pres. Trump’s use of the National Guard, downplayed the violence, and supported the protestors because they want the votes of illegal immigrants.)
(My opinion: They are calling evil good, and good evil; Isa. 5:20-24).
(FYI: On June 9, 2025, it was reported that 1.4 million illegal immigrants are drawing Medicaid. In addition to that, to round them up and deport them is costing U.S. taxpayers millions – perhaps billions – of dollars. Pres. Trump tried to stop the Medicaid payouts with his Big Beautiful Bill, but even with Medicaid going broke, Democrats opposed him.)
Eight, concerning a departing from the faith, lukewarm, etc., at the end of the age: on June 11, 2025, it was reported that the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) has adopted an amendment which “mandates screening clergy candidates based on their views of sexual orientation and gender identity.”
According to the article,
- The denomination has effectively declared that holding a biblical worldview disqualifies a person from spiritual leadership.
- In short, unless you’re affirming of LGBTQ+ lifestyles, you are now unwelcome at the shepherd’s table.

Nine, concerning famine and pestilences at the end of the age and early in the Tribulation Period: in early June 2025, it was reported that two Chinese nationals have been charged with smuggling a fungus into the U.S. that can destroy crops (wheat, barley, corn, rice, etc.).
It is too early to know how the case will come out, but U.S. officials are calling it a case of agroterrorism.
(My opinion: It is easy to see how a wide-open border could lead to famine and pestilences, and people are rioting right now because they want open borders.)
FYI: God does not send anyone to Hell (all of us are born with a sin nature and destined to go to Hell because we sin), but God has provided a way (Jesus) for everyone to go to Heaven (and He is the only way to get there; John 14:6).
Finally, are you Rapture Ready?
If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this.
