Misconceptions In Prophecy: Part 1 :: By Ron Ferguson

This is not an easy subject to address because of its very nature. A subject like this can always be accused of being judgmental, and that is the last thing I want. Occasionally people write to me telling me I don’t know anything, and I have such a superficial knowledge of the Bible; it is obvious they disagree with something I wrote, and I suppose they can have that view. It causes me to delve even further into what the Bible says. Sometimes I think, “Maybe they are right. We do the best we can with God’s help.”

The problem when writing on that subject is that it is so conclusive for people to say, “Who does he think he is, as if he knows it all!” This is the danger in writing this series of articles and is why I am stressing this matter at the start. I know the views of different writers who contribute to RR, and I know I and they can see things differently.

The purpose of writing this series is NOT to try correcting anyone, for that is negative and just not on. What I am doing is selecting certain items that have a prevailing view I don’t support, but I get asked about them. I am defining my position without prejudice, so no one is to be offended. I am hoping instead that we all might examine the scripture more carefully.

Not one of us has the full container of truth.

My own views on a number of prophetic issues have changed over the years, some to the extent that I now hold to the opposite of what I did when I was 20 or 30. That was a long time ago. Research and scripture comparison have changed that. The following are matters I have worked through over the years, and some of these I have already written on. These are misconceptions (in my understanding):

[MISCONCEPTION 1].

HEAVEN IS OUR ETERNAL HOME.

This needs to be refined. Is heaven our home? Yes, and No. Some saints have been in heaven now for almost 2,000 years, but no longer than that.

The Old Testament believers, when they died, went to Abraham’s bosom in Paradise, which was part of Sheol – place of the dead, sometimes translated ‘grave’ (and before Abraham, then just Paradise). The other part was where the wicked dead were in torment. The story of Lazarus and the rich man bears that out.

The reason the righteous were in Paradise was that they were unacceptable for heaven, which is holy. The Old Testament saints had their sins covered, but that awaited the sacrifice of Christ to eliminate and atone for sin completely, to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. One important verse bears out that thought – {{2Corinthians 5:21 “He made Him who knew no sin, to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 1Pet. 2:24 “He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness, for by His wounds you were healed.”}}

There is the substitutionary exchange. The righteous One took the sins of the unrighteous ones on the cross, becoming sin for them, that in turn, sinners can become the righteous ones through Him. We have His appropriated righteousness and all that is possible after Christ’s sacrifice, not before. Those in Paradise who had their sins covered but not eliminated were recipients of Christ’s righteousness after the cross. Paradise was the comfort for them while they waited for Calvary.

Once that was done, He led captivity captive and took them all to heaven (I think at the ascension). Paradise does not exist anymore. Hell has enlarged itself and now is one.

As I said, some have been in heaven for almost 2,000 years, and when the Rapture happens, ALL the believers since Adam to the exact moment of the Rapture will be in heaven. That makes up The Church, The Bride.

However, all those who are raptured while still living (the mortals of 1 Corinthians 15) who have put on immortality, they will be in heaven for only 7 years. During those 7 years, the events of the Tribulation will rage on earth. Right near the end of that time, the marriage of the Bride occurs (Revelation 19), and the honeymoon is the battle of Armageddon.

At that point, the Bride (no longer called the Church in the Bible) returns to earth with her Groom at the Second Coming and spends the next 1,000 years on earth reigning with Christ through the Millennium. What follows that?

{{Revelation 21:1 “I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea, 2 and I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He shall dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be among them, 4 and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there shall no longer be any death. There shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain. The first things have passed away.’ 5 He who sits on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new,’ and He said, ‘Write, for these words are faithful and true.'”}}

I believe the New Jerusalem is the home of the Bride, and that will be eternal. There we have it – heaven will not be our eternal home. I suppose the generalist could say, “Well, where God is, is heaven,” but it is not as general as that.

[MISCONCEPTION 2].

THE TIMING OF THE RAPTURE IS NEBULOUS. Some people say to me, “Well, why are you trying to push the Rapture as coming soon? It may be 100 years away?” I find it hard to explain to those people why I believe in an imminent Rapture, as they seem convinced it could be a long way off. Now why would people say such things?

Most readers of RR would also hold to an imminent Rapture, so what are the reasons we hold for this view, and reject the Rapture to be in the future sometime, maybe hundreds of years away? I was saved in a Brethren assembly at the age of 10/11 and spent a lot of time reading the early Brethren writers – views of J N Darby, C H Macintosh, W Kelly, Gaebelein, and a lot more. These men, God used to reinstate the teaching of eschatology that had been generally lost for 1,700 years. There are excellent articles on this site by Thomas Ice (https://www.raptureready.com/thomas-ice/), and one or two cover that point. I would recommend all that Thomas Ice has written. I would judge him as being the best teacher represented on RR.

What those early teachers in the early 19th century held to was an imminent Rapture, and that was nearly 200 years ago.

Well, the early Church did the same, and it is the correct thing to do. However, 1,960 years have passed since that apostolic era of an imminent Rapture, so what is the difference? Why are we now so assertive? Why do quite a number of RR writers agree with an imminent Rapture?

Well, the difference is the signs of the times. For us alive now, we see so much that has now been set in place – Israel has its own land; Europe is readying itself to be the revived Roman Empire; the last day signs of 2Timothy 3 are upon us; the world is getting ready for all sorts of wars which will be set in motion by the rider on the red horse; phone technology is such that the whole world will be able to see the events of Revelation 11 in real-time; God has allowed the world to see what a virus is like (corona/pestilences of Revelation 6), and I am sure there are a lot more such as mandating. As well, there is a “feeling” or conviction among the students of the word that the Rapture is close. If we had to choose just one of the above for proof, it would have to be Israel!

For those reasons, I must reject what people tell me, that the Rapture could be hundreds of years away. Brothers and sisters, it is close!

[MISCONCEPTION 3].

A POPE WILL BE THE ANTICHRIST OR THE FALSE PROPHET. This is an interesting one and has been around for some time. Some of that opinion has come from anti-Catholic feelings.

Well, is there a possibility that that can happen? In my opinion, and I don’t want to offend Catholics, the pope is antichrist, but he is not THE Antichrist.

The coming world leader (Antichrist if you wish) will be a political figure from some European organization (national political leader, or from the UN or the EU or WEF, etc) (some charismatic figure like Emmanuel Macron). It is possible he could be a military figure, for the world will declare in the Tribulation, {{“Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?”}} and that will happen after the wars initiated by the second rider on the red horse.

It could also be related to the first revealing of this evil man – Rev. 6:2 “and I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering, and to conquer.”

In fact, the clearest indication for this Antichrist comes from this verse – {{Revelation 13:1 “He stood on the sand of the seashore, and I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names.”}}

“The sea” in prophetic scripture is always indicative of the Gentile nations, whereas “the land” is always Israel. Just one example of the sea is – {{Daniel 7:2 “Daniel said, ‘I was looking in my vision by night and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea 3 and four great beasts were coming up from the sea, different from one another.”}} This world leader arises from the Gentile nations (almost certainly Europe), and the description could indicate he will be an existing political leader. The Pope does not qualify for the world leader. However, will he qualify for the False Prophet?

The Pope is a false prophet because he claims to be the Vicar of Christ carrying the name “Pontifex Maximus,” but THE False Prophet arises from the land – {{Revelation 13:11 “I saw another beast coming up out of the earth and he had two horns like a lamb and he spoke as a dragon . . .”}} Because this beast springs from the land/earth, it is my opinion that the False Prophet will be an apostate Jew because Israel is always associated with the land. Israel is an earthly people, not a heavenly people – Israel’s blessings pertain to the land, whereas the Church’s blessings are heavenly.

There is talk about a “church” in the Tribulation, but the False Prophet will have the religious worship of the beast well and truly in hand. It will be a satanic church and drug-induced (Revelation 9 v 21). Note – {{Revelation 13:4 “They worshipped the dragon because he gave his authority to the beast, and they worshipped the beast saying, ‘Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?'”}}

As for drugs, it will be widespread – {{Revelation 9:20 “The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands . . . 21 and they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, (φαρμάκων (pharmakōn) nor of their immorality, nor of their thefts.”}} (Sorceries should be translated “drugs.” I and others have written on this that the Greek is actually drugs, often used in Roman times for inducing ecstatic states in pagan worship. In the Tribulation, it will be satanic worship.)

This great apostate “church” will be called by God, “BABYLON THE GREAT,” and its headquarters will be in Rome. We get that in the account of the destruction of this corrupt Babylonian system – {{Revelation 17:9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.”}} Rome is the city of the 7 hills – Palatinus, Capitoline, Quirinal, Viminal, Esquiline, Caelian, and Aventine.

The Roman Catholic Church, along with all dead Protestantism and probably all other “spiritualities,” will become part of the Tribulation “church” under the False Prophet.

To end, NO, the Pope is neither the Antichrist nor the False Prophet.

That covers 3 of these Misconceptions. There is another article in Part 2 where I address more of these issues.

Are Things Betting Better for the Republicans?

The liberal media and the Democrats are having a bad month. Both of them are suffering from poor ratings. President Biden’s approval ratings are down 33%. Biden frequently mispronounces words in his speeches. The press ignores the bloopers in his speech, but there is no covering up Biden trying to shake hands with an invisible person.

After delivering a speech in North Carolina, he turned to his right and offered a handshake with no one there to receive it. He then turned his back to the audience and stood for a second or two before walking off the stage.

Amid soaring inflation, 47% of the public say the economy is “poor,” the highest number in that category since 2012. Only 17% rank the economy as excellent or good, the lowest since 2014.

Only one in five Americans describe their personal financial situation as “getting ahead,” the weakest showing in eight years. Most say they are “remaining in place,” and one in 10 say they are “falling backward.” Meanwhile, 56% say they expect a recession in the next year — a level only achieved in the survey during an actual recession.

The Republicans have a good chance of taking back the Senate and the House this fall. In a normal year, the party out of power picks up several seats. As it stands right now, the Republicans appear set to have a sizable majority in the House and a slim lead in the Senate.

Many liberal organizations are having a difficult time drawing viewers. Following a string of reports about underwhelming subscriber numbers, Discovery has reportedly decided to shut down CNN+, CNN’s ill-fated streaming service, one month after its launch. CNN+’s dramatic failure to launch comes after it lured talent such as Chris Wallace from Fox News and Kasie Hunt from NBC News.

Netflix’s stock fell sharply last week after the streaming giant posted disappointing first-quarter earnings, prompting a flurry of price target cuts and critique from analysts. Netflix saw exponential growth in earlier years. As Netflix started producing more leftist content, many conservatives started backing away from the service.

The Obamas are set to part with Spotify after the streaming giant decided against offering a new deal, a report says. The Obama’s helped boost Spotify’s podcast credentials after announcing in June 2019 that they would develop and produce audio shows for the streaming giant. Higher Ground had begun shopping for new deals in recent months ahead of the end of the three-year deal, podcast industry insiders previously told Insider. Spotify and the Obamas are parting ways because they are boring. I constantly monitor the news, and I’ve never run across a story that quoted the former President and his wife’s media project.

Walt Disney Co. has been protesting a New Florida law that blocks teachers from talking to young students about sex. Florida legislators passed a bill that revoked a special tax status given to the company in 1967. I couldn’t find any articles on how much it would cost Disney. Walt Disney Co. has no business sticking its nose into matters that should solely be between a parent and their children.

Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter for $46.5 billion. By making the offer, he revealed how the leftists view social media as the exclusive domain. Twitter’s board of directors threatened to fight back with a “poison pill” strategy, allowing it to flood the market with new shares if Musk buys more than 15 percent of the company.

Fending off Musk’s $46.5 billion offer by creating more shares could dilute the value of shareholders’ stock — but Twitter’s 10 board members own just a tiny portion, Musk noted in an April 16 tweet: “The Twitter board collectively owns almost no shares! Objectively, their economic interests are simply not aligned with shareholders.”

Musk’s reason for wanting to purchase Twitter is to increase the value of the firm by making it open to people of all views. The Twitter board is only after power, and their willingness to damage the firm’s financials shows their lust for control.

I’m hopeful that the mid-term elections will go well for the Republicans. It is depressing to realize Bible prophecy predicts that any respite will only be brief, but the ultimate joy comes in knowing that someday all of the ungodly will be blown away like chaff for grain.

“The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish” (Psalms 1:4-6, KJV).

Post-Rapture World—Evidence, Verdict, and Sentence

While interviewing for our book, The DISAPPEARING: Future Events That Will Rock the World, one of the questions Pete Garcia and myself are often asked about is chapter 6, “Children and the Rapture.”

My first response always begins with something like: “This is my pet subject. It’s a passionate matter with me.” I can’t seem to help but answer that way. It just comes out of my mind and mouth automatically.

I’ve been told it’s because of my ol’ grandpa heart for children. Well, maybe that’s a part of the reason, but it is less-important than the priority part. I’ve assessed over the years that my passion about this comes primarily from my studied understanding of the character of our great God. This stems from the truth that God will never punish the innocent with eternity apart from Himself. All of His creation called man is born into sin, thus all are not innocent, but guilty. (“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”)

All are lost who are not in Christ. God provides a pathway to redemption—a way to be saved from guilt—to become innocent. His name is Jesus Christ, God’s only Begotten Son. All who are within Christ’s salvation shelter, through His shed blood on Calvary, are declared innocent in God’s holy eyes.

This is what Easter, or Resurrection Sunday, we just celebrated is all about. Christ died, was buried, and took up His life again as part of the salvation process, so that all who believe in Him according to Romans 10:9–10 will be saved—that is, saved from the punishment of eternal death that is separation forever from God the Father and Heaven.

Jesus said:

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man (or woman) comes to the father, but by me. (John 14: 6)

So to be in Christ is at the very heart of God’s great character. He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. All who have believed in Jesus Christ for salvation are innocent in God the Father’s holy eyes.

No one can “repent” and “believe” in God’s plan for salvation if they are incapable of doing so because they have never had the ability to repent and believe. Such are therefore “in Christ” until they have the ability to understand that Jesus died for them and is the only way to be saved (declared innocent).

This is biblically true whether a person is born with a cognitive disability and grows up still unable to understand, or whether one is a child who hasn’t yet reached the time of being able to understand the need to be saved from sin. In these cases, these are all “in Christ,”  meaning they will go to God the Father upon death–or at the moment of Rapture.

As we discuss in our book and during interviews, children, before reaching the “age of accountability,” as it is termed, are considered “safe” within God’ salvation program. Salvation is an individual matter, not a corporate one. God does not have grandchildren, as it is said. He has only children—i.e., we can’t be saved as a result of our parents being saved. Salvation is a one-on-one redemptive process with Jesus Christ and belief in what He did on the cross at Calvary.

All children will go to Jesus when He calls to believers of the Church Age (Age of Grace) based upon this truth. Even children in the womb at the moment of conception will go to be with Jesus when He makes that glorious call to believers.

I firmly believe that God will make a profound statement as to when life begins—that is, at the moment of conception.

All of this I have laid down to attempt to make the point I tried to frame with this commentary’s title.

God’s love for children, considering them as innocents before the age of accountability, is a profound providential concept I believe we can’t fully fathom. Jesus said that it would be better for a millstone to be placed around the necks of those who would harm children and prevent them from learning of God’s love for them, and for the perpetrators to be then cast into the sea, than to endure what they will face in the form of His holy punishment for such offenders. Such is an indeed terrifying prospect, coming from the mouth of God Himself!

When thinking on the Tribulation to come–the final seven years of human history leading to Christ’s Second Advent, I think it is pertinent to consider how those who have offended in this manner leading up to that horrific time have dealt with the innocents that are the children before they reach the age of accountability.

We in this nation are faced daily with reports of children as young as three years old being subjected to some of the most evil, adult-engendered, salacious maliciousness imaginable. Teaching them about sexual matters and even enacting legal prohibitions against parents being allowed to stop the activity is a societal and cultural cancer of the deadliest sort. Children in kindergarten through the elementary school years are taught that they can be whatever gender they want to be. That God decided their gender is unimportant. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t even enter the equation for sexuality in any way.

Activity as egregious as any found in the account of Lot’s day in Sodom has infected our own time on this fallen planet. Less than 1 percent of the American population dictates what the entire nation must follow–the satanic pathway into perdition of anti-God behavior.

The following excerpt further informs:

Culture warrior and researcher Chris F. Rufo of the Manhattan Institute has posted a series of videos in which CEO Karey Burke, who admits that she has “two queer children,” supports having those kinds of characters in more Disney films and projects, demanding that at least 50 percent of all movie characters are gay, transgender or racial minorities.

“SCOOP: Disney corporate president Karey Burke says, ‘as the mother [of] one transgender child and one pansexual child,’ she supports having ‘many, many, many LGBTQIA characters in our stories’ and wants a minimum of 50 percent of characters to be LGBTQIA and racial minorities,” he wrote in one Twitter post…

Also, Disney execs are getting rid of all references to gender, in an obvious woke pander to 0.0001 of the population.

“SCOOP: Disney diversity and inclusion manager Vivian Ware says the company has eliminated all mentions of ‘ladies,’ ‘gentlemen,’ ‘boys,’ and ‘girls’ in its theme parks in order to create ‘that magical moment’ for children who do not identify with traditional gender roles,” Rufo noted in another tweet containing a second video clip. (“Disney takes WOKE to the extreme as CEO demands 50% of all movie characters must be gay, trans, lesbians or racial minorities,” by JB Hayes, Thursday, April 14, 2022, The Daily Wire)

This is only the proverbial tip of the hellish mountain of wickedness deserving of God’s coming wrath. I could have, of course, found much more condemning news items we have had come across our news outlets of late.

The evidence for conviction and sentencing judgment in that most terrifying courtroom of the prophetic future is building–compounding day by day. More than 60 million babies murdered while in their mother’s wombs will doubtless heat eternity’s lake of fire furnaces to white hot. Sadly, tragically, many who offend the little ones in such ways as Jesus condemned will face their offenses at the Great White Throne.

However, even this horrendous sin can be forgiven by God, through His Son Jesus Christ. Here is how.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9–10)
