Just before Jesus began His ministry, John the Baptist’s work was well underway. His primary purpose was to be a voice crying in the wilderness and to prepare the way of the Lord. Isaiah 40:3 John preached repentance and warned people to flee the wrath to come. He prepared the way for Jesus. He gave Him glory by saying, “He who is coming after me is mightier than I. I am not worthy to carry His sandals.” John prepared the way for Jesus.
Similarly, there are men today preparing the way for Antichrist. Yuval Noah Harari is a history professor, best-selling author, and World Economic Forum speaker, who has a particular disdain for the Bible and any notion of a living God. Harari has a platform and a wide appeal. We’ll see how he and others like him are deceiving and being deceived as they prepare the way for Antichrist.
Before we continue, I want to clearly state that I certainly don’t believe Harari is the Antichrist. There’s been some speculation and buzz around his name. Our ministry won’t be part of any sensationalism. Having said that, there is biblical precedent for understanding that the spirit of Antichrist is here. It works through those who not only deny the name of Jesus but also blaspheme His word. 1 John 2:18-22.
I have listened to much of what Harari has said about God and the Bible. One word keeps reappearing consistently. It’s the word: truth. How ironic it is that he speaks about truth while lying about the only standard of truth. Satan uses deceived people to deceive people because they believe the ultimate lie that God and the Bible aren’t true. 2 Corinthians 11:3. Space doesn’t permit me to list all of what Harari has said about God, His word, or Christianity, but we’ll cover several of his most egregious statements below.
“AI can create new ideas, even write a new Bible.”
“Humans can use their language not only to describe reality, but to create new realities and fiction. They can say, Look there’s a god above the clouds, and if you don’t do what I tell you to do, god will punish you.“
“Religion is about answers. It’s when somebody comes and says, This is the answer. You must believe that. If not, you will burn in hell or we will burn you. This is the antithesis of spirituality.”
“Adam and Eve never existed.”
“In a few years, there might be religions that are actually correct. Just think about a religion whose holy book is written by an AI.”
“How do you cause people to believe in an imagined order such as Christianity, democracy or capitalism? First, you never admit that the order is imagined.”

Now that we’ve seen how Harari and men like him deceive, we’ll turn our attention to how they are preparing the way for Antichrist. Just as John the Baptist warned people to flee the wrath to come, men like Harari are essentially soothing the consciences of unbelievers by telling them there is no God who could pour out His wrath. Moreover, he describes any notion of God as fiction and that Christianity is imagined. Central to the teaching of biblical Christianity is that Jesus came to save sinners, while Harari insists that a belief in a God who punishes sin is pure fiction.
Harari and others are part of Satan’s plan to get the world to worship the Antichrist. This culminates in all power, lying signs, and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10.
Harari said that “AI technology will give us god-like abilities” as he continually blasphemes God in his TED Talks and guest appearances. Speaking words against the One True God will be a focus of the Antichrist. Daniel 7:25 and Daniel 11:36.
This brings me to my final point, which is that people like Harari are preparing the way for Antichrist by embracing AI and other technology not only for the good it can do, but for the god-like qualities they believe they will bring.
I personally have no basic problem with AI. On the surface, it can be an excellent tool bringing advances in the medical, defense, and research fields, among other benefits. I think it is naive to automatically classify AI as demonic. If that’s the case, the same could be said about our televisions, smartphones, and computers, which can be used for good or evil. As a minister, I won’t use it to write my sermons or inspire me; that’s the work of the Holy Spirit, but using AI isn’t taking the mark or being deceived by Satan.
Money can be used to feed the poor and spread the gospel, and it can also be used to view pornography and buy illicit drugs. Computers can be used to write a gospel message or hack into people’s bank accounts and steal their life savings. AI and other technologies can and are being used for purposes that benefit humanity, but in the wrong hands, in all probability, be used to solidify a system of global government, economy, and worship.
The prototype of this coming beast system is already taking shape in China and other places where every move is tracked, every purchase monitored, and every individual opinion is scrutinized. Emerging technologies, AI, algorithms, along with coming digital currencies and IDs, are converging to make the world under one man’s rule a reality.
I find it interesting that Harari mentioned that AI will give humans god-like capabilities. Satan essentially told Eve the same lie in the garden, telling her she would be like God. Satan is continually trying to redirect praise and glory meant for God to himself. I’m not alone when I say that I believe in the near future, AI may ultimately be used by Satan. An image of the beast, the Antichrist, will be made that will breathe and speak, and be worshiped. Revelation 13:14-18.
We have to remember that we are in the last days, and just as deception is increasing, our spiritual discernment should as well. End-time Bible prophecy is God’s loving warning to be watching and waiting for Jesus and about what we should be doing for His kingdom in the interim. Let’s reach the lost with the gospel with a renewed sense of biblical urgency.
Just as John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus, there are men who prepare the way for Antichrist. Harari and men like him fill TED Talks, universities, and even the World Economic Forum with lies. We must be diligent to refute their lies with God’s word through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our motive must be love for people and the Lord.
This isn’t the time for fighting, social media arguments, or trying to Christianize the culture, but asking the Lord of the harvest to send laborers. We must give people a reason for our hope with gentleness and respect. That means actually getting up and going out and compelling them to come to repentance and saving faith in Jesus. Remember to pray for Yuval Noah Harari. Satan hates him, and he is deceived, just as we were before we saw our sin before the Holy God.
