3.8 Seconds :: By Asher Mandel

The Feast of Trumpets is over, and we’re all still here! WDJT?

We’ve now seen many dates heavy with biblical significance come and go! WDJT?

Floods, droughts, and earthquakes are increasing in intensity and frequency! WDJT?

The world is filled with war and violence! WDJT?

God’s firstborn son, Israel (Exodus 4:22), has been fighting for his life for two years! WDJT?

God’s bride also fights for her life all over the globe every day! WDJT?

So, Why Does Jesus Tarry?!

The purpose of this article is to examine this question through a biblical lens to see if we can find an answer; so, let’s begin!

It is true that the sorrows and sins of our day match the biblical descriptions of the final days before the Rapture (see 2 Tim. 3:1-8). It is also understandable that in such times, saints should yearn for their beloved Savior’s appearing. Even in Rev. 22:20, under far less painful conditions than we see today, John cries “Maranatha,” “Come, Lord Jesus!” Yet for all these truths, there is another truth serving as a counterweight in scripture.

It is the Mercy of God!

First Peter 3:9 (Amplified Version) says this:

“The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

What a wonderful explanation for Why Jesus Tarries! To reinforce, consider this…

If a chapter of the Bible told us the same thing about God 26 times over, we would conclude that it was critical for us to believe it and never forget it! Psalm 136 has 26 verses, and every one of them reminds us that: “His mercy endures forever.”

How reluctant then would such a merciful God be to bring a stop to a bountiful end-times harvest by coming to rapture His church and launching the Tribulation?

And in our days, our merciful God is translating an unprecedented number of souls from the Kingdom of Darkness to the Kingdom of Light!

Here are a few statistics for your consideration:

In 1900, there were 10 million Christians in Africa. By 2024, there were 734 million!

Over the past century, the number of churches worldwide has increased 1000% from 420,000 to 4,200,000!

“The international missionary force has grown from 62,000 in 1900 to a projected 445,000 in 2024!”

The bottom line is this: The webpage where I took some of these stats from, https://www.frontierpartners.org/global-christianity-surges informs us that by best estimates and a lot of record-keeping, the number of Christians in the world in 2024 was 2,520,000,000. In 2025, that number had jumped to 2,630,000,000! That is an amazing increase of 110,000,000 precious souls now heaven-bound in just one year!

Just out of curiosity, I divided 110,000,000 by 28,956,000 (the number of souls converted to Christ last year by the number of seconds in 1 year). The answer was 3.8! Every 3.8 seconds, another soul is saved!

In Luke 15:10, Jesus said, “I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

At this point in history, the rejoicing of the angels must literally be non-stop!

Just as no sermon is quite complete without an appropriate application, this article requires one also. Here it is. Galatians 6:9-10 exhorts us this way:

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

We have seen what great things God is doing in these last few months/years before He calls for His Bride. The question appears to be, “What are WE doing to come alongside Him to help Him in His work?”

I have three suggestions to offer which I hope you will consider…

1 – Pray more!

There has never been a more urgent time to pray for God’s global work and for God’s global bride than now! There were 4,476 Christians killed for their faith last year (12 each day), and many more than this persecuted, jailed, etc. The website Open Doors shows us an illustrated map of which countries are most in need of prayer. https://www.opendoorsus.org/en-US/stories/12-Christians-killed-for-their-faith-each-day/

2 – Diversify Your Giving!

Google the phrase “Christian ministries ranked by excellence,” and peruse the first four sites listed there. Evangelical Ministries are evaluated by impact, financial integrity, and a number of other criteria for excellence, and the special burden of each is explained. You just may find one listed that tugs on your heart unexpectedly and causes you to be more “cheerful” in your giving.

Author Henry Blackaby once famously said, “Watch to see where God is working, and join Him in His work.”

Do a bit of research and allow the Holy Spirit to have more input in your giving. You may be surprised and eternally glad to see the results!

3 – Consider becoming an online missionary!

There is a ministry out there that has been around for over 20 years, getting larger and showing more dramatic results every year, but very few believers seem to know about it. It is called “Global Online Missions.” Here is the link: https://globalmediaoutreach.com/volunteer/

This ministry has over 5,000 online missionaries currently working online, reaching about 100,000 unbelievers daily, many of these in the “10/40 window”!

My faithful wife has been one of these missionaries for about five years now, and it fills her days with joy and purpose. She has led a good number to Christ, and so can you!

In conclusion, WDJT!? Because of His mercy! Recite these six words from John 3:16 slowly and reverently: “For God so loved the World…”

This should have taken you just about 3.8 seconds! Sound familiar?

And remember that we can rejoice along with the angels in heaven even more fully… if we have had a part!
