Our Final Act :: By Edwin Tan

It is only the ones truly walking in the light that are not taken for a vicious ride by the enemy. We can see what is the adversary’s game plan because we have the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and we feed on the Bread of Life consistently with an exceeding joy in our hearts. Nevertheless, we belong to a global minority that has chosen the narrow gate. The overwhelming numbers that surround us do not see things like we do. On the contrary, they have literally been unwary victims of probably the biggest con job in the history of mankind – having swallowed the lie like fishes on a hook with line and sinker!

There is no doubt that these people are totally lost in the quagmire of confusion. It is this sinister blanket that clouds their thinking and makes them impervious to alternative views. Yet we have a role to play when it comes to unshackling them from this phony narrative that leads to everlasting damnation. We do not expect to achieve anything by our own design, but the enabling and empowerment from the Holy Spirit more than overpowers seemingly insurmountable strongholds!

“Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one” (Colossians 4:5-6).

The Living Word tells us explicitly how we should conduct ourselves in the ever-darkening environment, bucking the heinous trend by being lights that deliver the truth. Yes, indeed, time is of the essence because it is truly running out as far as bringing people to Jesus and Christ to the unsaved goes. The enemy is upping the ante in his war against the Heavenly Father. But it ought to dawn upon all of us that we are instruments of battle so directed by the Holy Spirit that indwells in all of us. It is definitely not our innate mental faculties and manmade knowledge that counts – it is wisdom from the Lord. It is on this note that we listen to the still, small voice and walk the talk where the Word of God is concerned. So, seeking wisdom from the Lord is ongoing and unceasing!

What comes out of our mouths can ultimately make or break another person’s eternal destiny. This is why there has to be that seasoning with salt on a regular basis. The seasoning process goes hand in hand with the acquisition of Godly wisdom. We become that potent preservative that stems the decay when we allow the Holy Spirit to instruct us. When this happens, our minds and hearts must be open, tossing aside whatever preconceived notions plus biases. Things could sort of baffle us, for starters, but willingness to accept His instruction through prayer can make a vital difference. We could end up speaking in a way beyond our imagination, but that could be the critical element that turns lives towards the light.

All this can be a powerful tool when it comes to bringing somebody to the saving knowledge of Christ. First and foremost, someone who cuts against the grain of negativity can be more than a welcome surprise. For once, hope is being presented for all eyes to see and all ears to hear. Bear in mind, hope that is really what it is gets scarcer by the day in these times. There could very well be much awe plus amazement when someone on the edge gets a refreshing dose of hope. It could be enough to make him or her seek the Lord.

None of us need to attend earthly courses on interpersonal communication. When we have the grace of God with us, we can handle the moment. The right words, correct pronunciation, and of course, a perfectly timed pause for a listening ear – it will all unfold seamlessly when we allow the Lord to call every shot!

It really does not matter much to us whether or not we encounter the fruits of our labor. Most importantly, we ought to rejoice in the reality of being a significant part of His soul-winning campaign.

“But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:14 & 15).

Yours in Christ

Edwin
