Nothing Is Going to Suppress Us :: By Edwin Tan

At times, the days just grow darker – light at the end of the tunnel appears to be a diminishing prospect. Respite appears to be a privilege rather than a necessity. There is no end in sight where threats are concerned; gossip about more iron-fisted moves in the pipeline that curtail specific freedoms – namely the fast-vanishing opportunity if not right to share the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ. Quite a number of these threats were made good, especially in the area of silencing voices deemed as anathema where those with big-time vested interests mattered. Vested interests in a fast-looming matrix of totalitarianism that will be the hallmark of the Tribulation.

Censorship has been the distasteful tool of suppression of late. So much so that content and terminology have to be modified for the sake of circumnavigating the maze of discouragement. All this willfully engineered by none other than the author of confusion for the express purpose of breaking down the perseverance of the faithful believer in Christ. There have been all too common instances of high-handed castigation in the mainstream avenues, to the extent that there has to be migration to alternative sites. To a considerable degree, the target audience has been inconvenienced – but their unwavering determination not to jump ship certainly pleases God.

As this diabolical trend shows only signs of picking up steam, an unkind climate of bias is permeating, namely so at various levels of officialdom across the seas. The frequency of chatter about proposed legislations that are tantamount to persecution is escalating. Some have actually become a new statute, albeit a truly bigoted one! Indeed, a harsh matter of fact in unbelievable fashion since one Justin Trudeau started a dastardly torrent of shifting sands that bring nothing but strife!

Aside from the above-said shake-up on a macro level, there are undoubtedly cases of harassment and abuse directed at the believer at street level. At times to the point of unprovoked aggression that can turn somewhat ugly. The minions of the wicked one are orchestrating such moves for sure! Nothing but hefty disincentives for following Christ.

With these innumerable episodes of wickedness appearing to be unstoppable, has God abandoned His true Church? The father of lies would certainly enjoy the ploy of making many Believers become slaves to this vile notion. He could be scoring some hits on weaker members of the flock. But hang on, brothers and sisters in the Lord – there is a critical verse of Scripture that says otherwise. It is found in Isaiah 54:17.

“‘No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,’ says the LORD.”

It is all clear and simply explained – our God is a hundred percent behind us. Why? Because we are His servants, and He will never leave us helpless before the forces of evil. Remember that He is a loving Heavenly Father who has given His assurance that none of those who have every cruel intent upon any child of His will succeed. The enemy can muster anything against us, but even with intricate planning, seemingly inexhaustible logistics, and numerical superiority, can these come close to achieving even a whisker of their objectives? Definitely not when the Lord calls the shots.

When we take these words of exhortation to our hearts, all the more, there needs to be prayer against these malevolent powers. Fervent prayer that will enable us to be triumphant over these agents of despair. The wicked one is upping the ante against the Bride of Christ because he wants to spoil the party, hoping that the numbers left behind for his willful pleasure will swell as the pressure mounts!

Always bear this in mind; the adversary will run out of ideas at a given point in time – but everything from our Mighty God is infinite and truly inexhaustible. There is no doubt that things are getting worse by the minutes, if not seconds – but none of this will alter the love of God for his children.

“You drew near on the day I called on you, And said ‘Do not fear!’
O Lord, You have pleaded the case for my soul; You have redeemed my life.
O Lord, You have seen how I am wronged; judge my case.
You have seen all their vengeance, All the schemes against me.
You have heard their reproach, O Lord, All their schemes against me,
The lips of my enemies And their whispering against me all the day.

“Look at their sitting down and their rising up; I am their taunting song.
Repay them, O Lord, According to the work of their hands.
Give them a veiled heart; Your curse be upon them!
In Your anger, Pursue and destroy them
From under the heavens of the Lord” (Lamentations 3:57-66).

Be strong in the Lord, dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.

Love you all in His Name above all names.

Edwin
