Our God Reigns :: By Dennis Huebshman

With all the hype that’s going on today, people worldwide are holding their breaths because of our presidential election. On both sides of the fence, people are worried that their candidate won’t win. Even though the official election is over, the outcome is still in question. It may take a month or so before there is an absolute decision. It’s evident that people are looking in the wrong direction for answers. (any emphasis mine)

First, it’s obvious that there are spiritual forces at work, each with their own agendas. The one force that rules overall is the Lord God Jehovah. Satan has entered the arena throughout the world in preparation for the coming of the ultimate evil antichrist and his false prophet. One thing to remember: he can only do what the Father will allow. God is aware of every issue today and is not surprised by any of them. Everything is spelled out in scripture, and God’s timing is perfect.

While not trying to judge anyone, as that task belongs to God, there are those who are pushing for a one-world currency, one-world government, and even an all-encompassing one-world religion. This is not new as John told us in 1 John 2:18 that there were already antichrists in the world. This was about 2,000 years ago. In 1 John 3:8, we’re told that those “who make a practice” of sinning are of the devil. It tells us that the reason that Jesus, the Son of God, appeared was to destroy the works of the devil; and that was accomplished at Calvary.

In 1 John 3:23-24, we’re told; “And this is His commandment; that we believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another just as He has commanded us. Whoever keeps His commandments abides in God, and God in him/her. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the (Holy) Spirit He has given us.”

Through 1 John chapters 4 and 5, we’re told that false prophets were already in this world. Using Satan’s influence, they were trying to deceive all true believers, and this is still happening today. All we have to do is listen with an open mind to see if someone is of the Father or of Satan. An absolute key verse is 1 John 5:12; “Whoever has the Son, has life; whoever does not have the Son of God, does not have life.” There are no “except for” comments or any other options. We cannot remain “neutral” in this battle. John 3:18, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Romans 5:8 and Romans 8:1 all say that Jesus is our only Savior. John 10:30 specifically states that; “The Father and I are One.”

Romans 6:23 gives a firm warning, and then a message of victory. “For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Again, specific and to the point, and offered to all who will receive and accept the gift. A gift is only useful if received, opened and accepted.

Jesus, Paul, Peter, John and others all said that satanic activity would increase near the end of this age. It will be full-blown in the 7-year wrath/tribulation period, but God has promised that all true believers, that are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, will be kept from going through that time (1 Thessalonians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10; Revelation 3:10).

Question: Has there been an obvious increase in evil? Are there not churches (?) of Satan that have come out in the open in the last decade or so? Is not just about everything and everyone that is of Jesus being condemned as causing hatred toward all people with alternative lifestyles that are an abomination to God?

One point here: A true believer hates no one, as we’re commanded to love everyone for their immortal souls. However, and Jesus gave us examples of this, we don’t have to like or accept their lifestyles. He had the most trouble with the religious leaders of His day because of their blasphemy toward God’s true word. They had changed God’s true word to fit their agendas, just as some so-called evangelical teachers are doing today.

All who have Jesus in their hearts know that “Our God Reigns.” In 1974, Leonard E. Smith was going through a trying time, and during a Bible reading session, he came across Isaiah 52. The more he read, the more the words of this song formed in his mind. He also read Isaiah 53 and eventually Luke 24. This information can be found on the web.

“Our God Reigns”

(1) How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, good news; announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness: Our God Reigns; Our God Reigns!

(ref) Our God Reigns! Our God Reigns! Our God Reigns! Our God Reigns!

(2) He had no stately form; He had no majesty, that we should be drawn to Him. He was despised, and we took no account of Him; Our God Reigns, Our God Reigns! (ref)

(3) It was our sin and guilt that bruised and wounded Him; it was our sin that brought Him down. When we like sheep had gone astray, our Shepherd came, and on His shoulders bore our shame. (ref)

(4) Meek as a lamb that’s led out to the slaughter house; dumb as a sheep before its shearer; His life ran down upon the ground like pouring rain, that we might be born again. (ref)

(5) Out from the tomb He came with Grace and Majesty; He is alive, He is alive! God loves us so; see here His hands, His feet, His side; Yes, we know, He is alive!” (ref)

As humans, it’s normal for us to be concerned about the things of this world, but we should not be totally demoralized by them. We must remember we have a Heavenly Father who is, and always will be, in total control. The closer we get to Him, and the stronger the relationship we develop with Jesus, the things of this earth won’t be quite so overwhelming.

John 16:33 one more time; “(Jesus said), I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulations; but take heart; I have overcome the world.”

When we become a part of Jesus’ flock as described in John 10, we receive forgiveness for all our sins, and the Father promises in Psalm 103:12; “as far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.” When we do slip and sin, as we will do as long as we’re in human form, He will forgive us when we confess that we sinned, and ask His forgiveness (1 John 1:8-10).

For all who refuse to have Jesus as their Savior, there is no forgiveness. The outcome will be the Great White Throne of Revelation 20:11-15, and there the unsaved will answer for every sin they ever committed. Not a real pleasant thought.

We don’t deserve to receive such Grace and Mercy, but by calling out to Jesus to save us, it will be freely given. Heaven or Hell; eternal life, or eternal punishment. The choice is totally up to each and every individual to make.

There is no doubt in my mind that My God Reigns, and His word is absolute truth. He will turn no one away that has the forgiveness of His Son, Jesus. The call to remove all true believers to rise up to meet Jesus in the air will be happening real soon. Everything in this world is in place for the time of the Rapture to take place. Be ready; call on Him today, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9-13).

Come, Lord Jesus!
