Walk Circumspectly :: By Andrea Wilkinson Glover

As I sit here and watch a beautiful sunrise on the High Plains of Texas, I am concerned about my brothers and sisters in the Lord. I am concerned that many are deceived by their own sin.

The devil doesn’t make us sin. We sin on our own because we were born into a sinful body. I have read many posts written by believers stating that they can vote for a party that clearly supports sin that God clearly states He hates, yet these people justify themselves. I will not even try to guess why they believe the things they say they support because I do not know the secrets of their heart. Only God knows who we really are.

God gave us an instruction manual, the Bible – Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth – to help us know who He is and to help us live a righteous life. Yet many brothers and sisters ignore those holy words and walk toward the darkness of life. When we start to justify our sin, we are walking away from the truth of what God has told us.

I know what it is like to justify sin; I am not perfect at all. I sin every day, and yet I hear the Holy Spirit call me out and remind me that I can only control myself, not other people’s actions and words. I love the Lord with all my heart. He saved me from the horrors of eternal separation from God, and so many times I disappoint Him because of sin I have allowed to hide in my heart.

I am so glad we have had the Constitution to govern us as a country. Most of us do not even know all the good things that are contained in the document; this includes myself. I look at the first ten amendments in the Bill of Rights, and I am amazed as to how the framers of the Constitution were savvy enough to include each amendment. I hope that those of you who are reading this will at least review those first ten amendments to remind you of your rights as an American citizen.

We are living in very dark days, yet many are running to and fro, ignoring that things are becoming more perverted than ever. There are so many verses in the New Testament that are full of instruction as to how we are to live, yet many are ignoring God’s instruction manual in order to satisfy their sinful selves.

“You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God” (James 4:4, ESV).

The coming days are critical for our country. I was thinking about which verses to post, reminding the Family of God what we need to pay attention to. There are many that would take up several pages to post, so I have chosen this passage, written by the Apostle Paul, to remind my brothers and sisters what to watch out for. I hope this encourages someone to continue to seek the Lord. It’s our only hope to keeping our freedoms here in America.

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says:

‘Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.’

“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:8-17, NKJV).
