Not Sold on Con-ye :: By Candy Austin

This piece is about a celebrity rapper who has made a career out of mocking our Savior Jesus Christ. In the past year, though, this person has claimed to be a born-again Christian. This is something we can only Hope and Pray is true. Said rapper has even started his own ‘church’ which is often held outside, surrounded by elites and celebrities singing spiritual songs choreographed by said musician. A ‘church’ mind you, out in the middle of nowhere, with a lot of ’emotional feel-good experiences’ supposedly about God, but all the while there is little to no Word, Praying, or Preaching?!

Quoting Megachurch Pastor Greg Laurie, “Just shut up for a minute, OK? How about this: Pray for him. Pray that he gets grounded in his faith, pray that he’s a seed sown on good ground that brings forth much fruit. I applaud any person that makes any movement toward God, and I want to encourage them in that, not critique them about that. And I think it’s fantastic because he’s taking his considerable platform — and he has quite a platform, doesn’t he? — to talk about faith.” – Source

Shut up? Don’t judge? Show unconditional support? Blindly endorse? Umm, I agree we are to Pray for him, but what about our responsibility to exercise something called Discernment, especially in a day and age of deception?! “I am sorry but not sorry,” because from day one I have not been ‘Sold’ on this supposed radical conversion of ‘Con-ye.’ His words and actions at recent events only help to solidify my convictions.

A line in this rapper’s new album states, “They (Christians) will be the first to judge me.” My question is, “What about him overriding Learned Scholars and Theologians by using his ‘celebrity platform’ to judge us Christians as making it too hard for people to be a part of this?!” In case ‘Con-ye’ does not yet understand, there is a reason we do not endorse the teachings of certain religions. Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, and Catholics do not teach sound doctrine from the Word of God; therefore, they are misleading people with their false religions! We are not ‘making it too hard for people to be a part of Christianity.’ Actually, we are making it easier for the ones who want to weed out the heresy and to be led to the unadulterated truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Quoting Rapper Kanye, “And it’s going to be a whole bunch of people call me like you ain’t supposed to mention that in Sunday service stuff. But this something God put on my heart. I got family locked up. And then it be pastors that wanna talk about aww T.D. Jakes said this. He ain’t saved, he wasn’t pure to the Bible. But then they can’t tell you a black pastor that they like though. It’s a divide in Christianity. That’s what I’ve seen since I’ve been saved … I’m an early convert. I’m just on stage [unintelligible]. I’m yay. Here’s what I see. If you believe that Jesus died for your sins, then you know the gospel. That’s the gospel. Don’t be telling me Mormons got an extra book and Catholics do this. It’s simple. Christians, we be making it too hard for people to come and be involved in this.”  Source

But there is a glaring problem right now that needs to be dealt with. I really don’t want to see Kanye slip away and be devoured by false teachers and a false gospel. I really don’t. But the problem is, Kanye West is still in the spotlight when he doesn’t need to be. If he is — and again, I truly hope that he is — truly a born-again believer, it’s time to step down from the self-proclaimed pulpit.

Kanye West admits to being a new convert with little theology behind him to stand on; yet, for some reason, he’s holding Sunday morning worship services that are attracting crowds in the thousands — tens of thousands. And, theologically speaking, he’s confusing a lot of people.

While he claims that he believes that Jesus Christ died for his sins and that he understands the gospel, West is sending the wrong message by giving a lot of pep talk during his “sermons” and, this past weekend, in what appears to be a defiance to the pastors who are shepherding him, he defended Catholics, Mormons, and T.D. Jakes, the modalist heretic. Source

Umm.. instead of us Christians being the first to judge this rapper, it seems like he has judged us long before we even had a chance to say or do anything! Wake up, people! His ‘church’ is nothing more than a feel-good emotional musical experience out in the middle of nowhere with no Bible, Praying, or Elevation of Jesus Christ. It is all about ‘ego and look at me’ and invitation only to the elite who are oftentimes Luciferians. Unless Christ and Him crucified is elevated as the main focus and His Word is preached, one can hardly call something like this ‘cult-like freak show’ a church!

Excerpts from discerningtheworld.com: “Kanye West, what does he REALLY believe?”

In a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kim explained that Sunday Service is “more of just a healing experience” than a religious one. “There’s no praying, there’s no sermon, no word, just music, and just a feeling — and it’s Christian,” she explained. So, it’s like a high-vibe spiritual Christian concert that’s welcoming of celebrities and other musicians, such as Katy Perry and Busy Philipps.

A source told People that Kanye has talked about starting his own church, but “it wouldn’t be the traditional, three-hymns-and-a-sermon thing.” Kanye’s plan would be more of a “a way to point people to Jesus through the arts and through a community of people who love and care for each other,” the source said.

[DTW note: The Bible says: Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”]

The healing powers of music! Really? Jesus says otherwise: Mark 2:17 “When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” Source

Also, let us not forget his recent visit to televangelist prosperity gospel pastor Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Megachurch in Houston, where he called himself the “greatest artist God ever created.” Newsflash: to walk out the Christian life, one must die to self, not elevate self above everyone else! Who else sees the red flags here?!

Excerpts from Christiannews.net: “Kanye West Defends Joel Osteen to Standing Ovation During Lakewood Service: ‘God Is Not the Negative Part’”

Rapper turned gospel artist Kanye West, who referred to himself as “the greatest artist that God has ever created,” spoke to the defense of motivational speaker and author Joel Osteen on Sunday, resulting in a standing ovation from many in attendance at Lakewood and Osteen joking that he had “made it” by having West’s support.

During the conversation, West acknowledged that he has been known for his pridefulness, but said that the difference now is that “[a]ll of that arrogance and confidence and cockiness that y’all see me use before God is now [being used] for Him. Because every time I stand up, I feel that I’m standing up and drawing a line in the sand and saying ‘I’m here in service to God and no weapon formed against me shall prosper.’”

“The greatest artist that God has ever created is now working for Him,” he later boasted, referring to himself.

Osteen has been a controversial figure among evangelicals as his positive thinking, self-help messages are devoid of preaching on sin, repentance and eternal judgment. His books have included “Your Best Life Now,” “Become a Better You,” “You Can, You Will, ” “It’s Your Time” and “The Power of I Am.”

Osteen’s message on Sunday again touched on God opening doors and opportunities for His people, advising those listening to make positive confessions over themselves, such as “I am enough,” “I am strong enough” and “I am attractive enough.” Source

Definition of Con Artist: a person who cheats or tricks others by persuading them to believe something that is not true. Source

Pretty soon there will be another ‘Con Artist’ on the scene who will be successful in deceiving countless millions. This Con Artist is described in the Bible as the Anti-Christ. It starts with people like ‘Con-ye’ in these last days, and then it goes on to more and more diabolical forms of deception. Be on guard, Christian, be vigilant now more than ever because the devil prowls about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour!

1 John 2:18 (all scripture KJV) “Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.”

1 John 4:1 “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

Revelation 13:16-17 “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Until next time… Maranatha!
