This Present Darkness :: by Clay Smith

This is where we are today in our present time in the 21st century as we look for the Lord’s return to snatch us, the Saints, out of here. This “present darkness” is quickly closing in as we see the world’s conditions getting worse and worse; exactly what the Bible predicted. The light it seems is getting dimmer and dimmer. Is this the calm before the storm possibly we are witnessing? I believe so.

Note: There was a great Christian novel that came out in 1986 by Frank Peretti, which was titled exactly like this, but I am not writing about this novel.

The Bible, God’s Holy Word, along with the Holy Spirit that presently indwells us, Christ’s “believers,” is a witness against this world system that Satan is running today. Thus, here is a superb description of “unbelievers” that came from a commentary in a Bible I had years ago that is so fitting:

“Darkness is the apathetic state of unbelievers that exists in spiritual ignorance with its attending worldly immorality and misery. They have no hope and peace here now, or in the coming eternal state.”

Let that sink in for a moment if you are in this class of people.

There is so much more of this immorality and misery today that it’s hard to keep up with “as we see the day approaching.”

Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

That day is when Jesus Christ returns to earth in the clouds to take His Bride, the Church, off the planet and out of this ever-growing darkness.

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

The enemy and his minions are having a heyday and are against everything God is doing. Satan seems to be winning for now, but we know how the Biblical narrative ends; we (Christ and us) win. All is going according to God’s plan with no one or anything to thwart it. There are so many Bible scriptures that reveal their prophetic discourse on the world conditions that are being fulfilled presently. Here are a few of them for you to read:

-Matthew Ch. 24

-Mark Ch. 13

-Luke Ch. 21

-2 Timothy 3:1-7

-2 Peter Ch. 2 (“ouch”)

-Jude (one chapter)

Conditions: The abortion agenda is really being played out big time now, and the battle is fierce. I know one thing: “Roe vs. Wade” needs to be deleted and abolished however you want to define that. Over sixty million babies have been aborted in the U.S. alone ever since that was mandated.

The homosexual and LGBTQ+ movement, with its newly attached transgender mainstream emphasis, is really gaining stride in the media today. It’s up front and in our face with its ugly head, showing all the “false colors,” trying to imitate what God created first with the beautiful rainbow He gave us to marvel at.”

There is hate present now like we have never seen it and wars and rumors of wars in the nations just like the Bible tells us.

Look at what’s going on in the Mideast with Israel and its surrounding enemies continuing to try to destroy her by so many components of hate. That won’t happen. That’s not a group you want to be part of in any way. Israel is God’s nation and people. Be warned what the Scriptures say. Note: The Scriptures are alive and active; don’t be fooled. Every word down to the last jot and tittle is living. The Word is God- breathed and inspired.

Psalm 121:4 “Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.”

Zechariah 2:8 “For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.”

We as “Believers” have to continue to persevere daily in this dark world until Jesus comes in the “Rapture” or He calls us home. Stay in the “Word” consistently, praying in the Holy Ghost, loving and encouraging others plus witnessing to people when you get the opportunity. We are to die daily as Paul did. Paul said this in 1 Corinthians 15:31:

“I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.”

Die to yourself, to live for Jesus.

Here is an encouraging verse to read and share as we fight against this “present darkness.”

Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Our light, the hope of the Gospel that indwells us, overcomes this darkness the enemy is spreading. We are to be faithful watchmen on the wall exposing it and standing up against it with the power of the ever-present Holy Spirit and faith that lives within us.

For those of you that are not believers in Jesus (Yeshua), I pray that you will surrender your lives to him who alone is able to save your souls.

Isaiah 55:6 “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.”

This life here might last 120 years for you, but eternity with Jesus Christ, the Messiah, no one can measure; it’s forever. If you reject Jesus, you will spend eternity apart from Him and Heaven.

Revelation 1:8 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”

May the Lord speak to your heart.

Blessings to you and Shalom.
