May the Light of Christ Be with You :: by Dan Payne

It seems the world has been “taken over” by the Star Wars movie franchise as of late. From Storm-troopers marching on the Great Wall of China to the hundreds of millions of dollars being spent worldwide in front of the big screens, multitudes of people are entertaining themselves through the theme of Star Wars.

But what exactly is the main theme of Star Wars? Why it’s good vs. evil of course, the light side against the dark side of the Force. And what is the Force? In Star Wars—the Force is all of the energy generated by all living beings in the universe.

Only those special beings that are sensitive to the energy of the Force can work toward the ability to harness its power. The Jedi (Yoda, Skywalker, etc.) represent the light side while the Sith (Vader, Sidious, etc.) represent the dark side. The Jedi are said to use the power of the Force in defense of good, and the Sith use the power of the Force for violence and destruction. So there you have it, good vs. evil—Hollywood style.

Now think about how successful the Star Wars franchise has been for generations. The movies are all about light vs. darkness. Of course, this is all made up fantasy with roots in the occult, but many people view it as representative of the good and evil that exists in the real world.

Even children understand that the theme of light vs. darkness used in Star Wars is a metaphor for good vs. evil. Long before Star Wars existed, God’s Word also illustrated light and darkness as representative of good and evil. Unfortunately, substituting darkness for light is the most powerful weapon used by Satan today.

“And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14)

If we had the ability to actually see Satan, we might be fooled into thinking he is good because of his ability to deceptively appear as an angel (surrounded by light and brilliance). And he would only speak words which we would want hear, to convince us of his goodness. All the more reason to be firmly grounded in God’s Word, and pray for wisdom and discernment in these last days.

Most people are automatically drawn to light, not darkness. That is why Hollywood usually portrays good characters as actually looking like they are good and evil characters as actually looking dark and evil. That is just the way Satan wants it.

Based upon the generations of movies produced through his influence, Satan has set up the world to automatically believe that when it sees someone who looks good and can speak well, then they must really be good. Oh what a great deception the Antichrist will be!

The only way a person can reject the deception of the false light of Satan is through the discerning power of the Holy Spirit. How can a person receive this power? By reading the Word of God and trusting in the Holy Spirit for guidance.

“Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Do you really want the power to recognize the false and fake soldiers of Satan disguising themselves as soldiers for good? Then you have to trust in the God of the Bible for your salvation.

Agreeing with God when He says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), and recognizing that you are indeed a sinner, is the first step.

You then also have to want to accept His solution for your sins. You have to want to be saved by the blood that Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son shed for you on the cross.

The moment you want to receive and trust in the salvation offered to you by the Lord, you will receive the gift and guidance of the Holy Spirit. He will cause you to call out to the Lord for your salvation.

“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

After you receive God’s salvation, you can be led by the Holy Spirit when you trust and obey. When you read the Bible and only the Bible, the Holy Spirit will help you to understand the things in particular that He wants to teach you.

“The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you” (John 14:26).

The Prophet Isaiah recorded what happened to the people of Israel when they rejected the true light of God and followed the false light of Satan. They were seeking truth through mediums, (fortune tellers and psychics).

“And when they say to you ‘Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,’ should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

They will pass through it hard-pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward. Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness” (Isaiah 8:19-22).

Because the people did not seek God’s Word alone, they did not have His light and they became deceived by Satan’s lie. Without the wisdom of God’s light, the people were deceived into darkness instead. Then they became angry at God for their own rejection of His guiding light.

Satan endlessly presents substitutions for the light of God. Millions of people around the world partake in various “enlightening” and self-changing comforts to their everyday lives. Multitudes practice Yoga and meditation while claiming that God’s Word supports their darkness.

The Bible does not teach us dependence upon ourselves and our inner beings. The Bible does not teach dependence upon the things of nature like birds, plants, waterfalls, and gardens.

God teaches us that we can overcome our sadness and anger in this world through dependence and trust in Him, not Yoga or New Age meditation. We have only ourselves to blame if we do not depend upon God’s Holy Spirit to guide us through each day.

Those who are deceived by the false light of Satan are deceived because they do not know God’s truth; they do not read God’s Word.

Darkness and deception are a result of attempting to find truth that is not contained in the Word of God. People who do not have the light of God wander in darkness and become angry at God, refusing to come to Him for help.

That is why Satan’s disguise as an angel of light is so effective. He turns white to black and black to white. Satan causes people to believe that God is the source of darkness. Hatred toward the only One who can save them from their sins is the result of this deception by the one who disguises himself as an angel of “light.”

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20).

Trust in the Lord for your salvation today and receive the guiding comfort of His Holy Spirit as His gift to you.

“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17).

“The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:26-27).

John 16:33: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Reject the false light of Satan and accept the true light of God.

May the Light of Christ be with you!
