Obama vs. Netanyahu :: by Matt Ward

Tensions between Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu have reached a fever pitch.

Open hostility against Benjamin Netanyahu has now got to such a high level that conflict is spilling out from behind the closed doors of private diplomatic circles onto Main Street. Undignified and improper; it has been described as the worst kind of gutter politics by many political commentators.

It is also highly dangerous for America.

Obama is now, by his administration’s own admission, in a state of open warfare with Netanyahu’s government. Describing Netanyahu’s acceptance of John Boehner’s invitation to speak at Congress as Netanyahu directly “spitting in the face” of Obama, another unnamed Obama source described how they, “…thought they had seen everything Bibi was capable of…but then he goes and surprises you again by doing this…”

This has led to a senior member of John Kerry’s State team to declare that the Secretary’s “enthusiasm to defend Israel” in international institutions would be curbed if Netanyahu followed his present course of addressing Congress.

American/Israeli relations are now in such an unprecedentedly poor place that open threats are being passed from Washington to Tel Aviv. Senior Obama officials have declared, “President Obama has a year and a half left to his presidency, and there will be a price…”

The damage has been further compacted by Obama authorizing Jeremy Bird, his one-time campaign coordinator, to travel to Israel to advise and guide the campaigns of Netanyahu’s main political opponents. It is unthinkable that this would have happened without Obama’s express knowledge and permission.

Equally as surprising is the information that the United States government has been funding the organizations behind Bird’s activities in Israel, something which is in clear breach of Israeli election law.

Obama and his administration are seeking to personally influence the outcome of the forthcoming Israeli election. They do this in the hope of securing power for an opponent of Netanyahu whom they desire to be more compliant to their demands, more accommodating to US wishes in the “Peace Process” with the Palestinians and more complicit to US aims in negotiations with Iran over their nuclear weapons program.

In short, Obama wants a Dove as Prime Minister of Israel, not a Hawk, like Netanyahu. And the unspoken implication for Israel is clear; elect Netanyahu and Israel will pay the price.

Before the current administration continues down this path Barack Obama should be aware that previous examples of poor stewardship with Israel have resulted in very real consequences for America.

On 31 October, 1991 at the Madrid Peace Conference, President George H. Bush attempted one of the first significant efforts to divide the land of Israel in exchange for “peace” with the Palestinians. The very same day a huge storm formed in the Atlantic with America directly in its sights. So massive and rare was this storm it was immortalized in Sebastian Junger’s book, The Perfect Storm later to make a movie of the same name.

This unique storm was described as a “freak of nature” because instead of moving west to east, this storm was moving east to west. This is the wrong direction for storms to move in and contrary to storms that have occurred before or since.

Having learned no lesson from this warning, President Bush reconvened the conference one year later, again attempting to divide Israel for “peace” with the Palestinians, on 23 August, 1992. It was called The Madrid Peace Conference, Part Two.  As with Madrid One, on the very same day as the conference, Hurricane Andrew smashed into Florida destroying over 180,000 homes and causing over 30 billion dollars in damage. The most expensive natural disaster in US history at the time.

The famous Oslo Peace Accords followed, on 13 September, 1993, again, with President George H. Bush presiding. This accord was informally named the “Land for Peace” accord. At the conclusion of the Peace accords, on 31st October 1993, the very same day, Hurricane Emily devastated the Outer Banks with winds in excess of 115 miles per hour.

President Clinton continued this trend and on 16 January, 1994 met with Hafez el-Assad in Geneva to discuss a peace agreement that involved carving up Israel’s Golan Heights. This act led the very next day to a 6.9 earthquake in California. At the time this was the second most destructive natural disaster to occur in America ever, behind Hurricane Andrew.

On 21 January 1998 Benjamin Netanyahu went to the White House and was improperly received by President Clinton and Madeline Albright. They refused to lunch with him in what was widely interpreted to be a significant diplomatic slight on Netanyahu personally, and Israel more generally. The very same day, the Monica Lewinsky scandal blew up, wreaking havoc with the Clinton administration and leading to his ultimate impeachment.

The theme of “Land for Peace” continued on 28th September 1998, and President Clinton finalized a surrender of 13 percent of Judah and Samaria to the Palestinians with Yasser Arafat, calling Netanyahu to Washington to impose this solution upon Israel.

The same day Hurricane George slammed into the Gulf Coast of America, preventing the signing of the document. The Hurricane lulled until the signing took place and then cascaded full force into the coast, causing over $1 billion dollars damage. Strangely, Hurricane George then dissipated at exactly the same time Arafat left the United States to return to the Middle East.

This is only small a sample of many that could be given and does not include other notable examples like the connections to poor treatment of Israel in the economic crashes of 2006, 2008 and 2012. It doesn’t include the linkage to the World Trade Centre Bombings of 1993 or the implications of 9/11.

I make no detailed reference to the following, but they are all significant:

The Hurricane Katrina Disaster or to the BP Super Deep Sea Oil leak which devastated wild life and associated industries.

Hurricane Sandy which caused over $1 billion dollars’ worth of damage is not included.

The 2011 Joplin Tornado which killed 180 people is not mentioned, nor is the flooding of the Mississippi in the same year, which caused up to $4 billion dollars damage.

There are no mentions of Hurricanes Rita, Ivan or Charley or Frances, despite the fact that they all caused significant damage and loss of life.

Nor have I discussed the unprecedented recent US drought, which has devastated farming and agriculture. It could literally go on and on…

All are indicative of a hedge of protection being removed from a nation because that nation is acting in a way that is not in accordance with the will of God. God has only had one foreign policy and it is found in Genesis 12:3:

“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you…”

By his actions, Barack Obama is pitting America directly against Israel, the Apple of God’s eye. Consequences always follow. Perhaps someone should tell Barack Obama this before it is too late…

(By the way, American taxpayers spent $1.4 billion on the Obama family last year as reported by author Robert Keith Gray in his book, Presidential Perks Gone Royal.)
