The Atheists Are Crying Again! :: By Chris Dellheim

As a blogger on Facebook, my friends often post articles ranging from the religious to the political and everything in between. Most of these articles continue to show me that this world is on a full-tilt run to judgment and there isn’t any way to stop it. It’s as if the silly continues to jump off the cliff with the stupid!

One such posting inspired me to write this. It’s not exactly “new” in these forums but it bears repeating. The atheists are complaining again that their lack of faith – excuse me, “freedom from religion – is being attacked, again. Case in point is the University of Wisconsin which has removed the Gideon Bible from its conference center guest rooms.

Often through my travels, I’ve found Gideon Bibles placed in a drawer near the bed. They are not in plain sight. This was the case in Wisconsin. However, an atheist noticed this Bible and with the help of the Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF), managed to get the university to remove the Bibles from the rooms.

Here is an excerpt from the article of the letter that was sent to the university:

The organization (FFRF) then sent a letter to university officials, asserting that the placement of the Gideon Bibles violated the Establishment Clause of the United States Constitution, which reads, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

“It is a fundamental principle of Establishment Clause jurisprudence that a government entity cannot promote, advance or otherwise endorse religion,” the letter stated. “Permitting members of outside religious groups the privilege of placing their religious literature in public university guest rooms constitutes state endorsement and advancement of these Christian publications.” [1]

Another article has shown up today that says atheist want to tear down a 90 year old war memorial because it “shocks and upsets them.” [2]

What really bothers me is this: Why are these people so offended? Why can’t they just ignore the Bible and these symbols of faith (NOT RELIGION!) and move on? The answer to that is simple: Seeing this book or these symbols, or hearing of God convicts the atheist! As hard as they try to distance themselves from “religion,” the more “religion” gets closer to them.

Actually, it is God that is getting to them! For all they do to try and get away from God, the more they run into God. It bothers their conscience. In short, they don’t want to accept responsibility or be responsible to what clearly exists; a higher power: God. Oh, and they are aware that God does exist.

How can I say that? Look how hard they fight to get rid of Him from our schools and public places and anywhere else they can delete Him. If they truly do not believe that God exists, then why do they fight so hard to remove Him? They’ll give you a head full of double-speak to try and explain this but it still boils down to: they don’t want to be responsible to anyone but themselves. What is also odd is, atheists only complain about Christian symbols and materials. I wonder what they would do if they found a Qur’an in the drawer? We never hear about this.

What’s interesting also is that these so-called atheists aren’t even atheist. I say this because if they were atheist, they would have no idea what any of these things are. What these people are, are agnostic. Oh yeah, they KNOW the truth of God. They just don’t want to accept it and resent it being put before them.

2 Peter 3:3 reads: “Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires” (NIV).

Atheists are among these people. They don’t believe in God, they don’t want to believe in God. They want to follow their own ways. For all the physical evidence that is out there of the existence of God, they just refuse to see it.

There is little Christians can do to change the mind of atheists. It is only by God’s power that these people change. There have been many that have changed and I will say; they have become the most vocal in defense of the existence of God. Ian McCormick is such a man. You can see his video at the link posted below. [3]

This man died from multiple jellyfish stings while diving in New Zealand and was resuscitated in the hospital. In that experience, he learned that God does exist and has become a believer.

Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 12:6:

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces (NIV).”

This passage has come to mean that we should not waste resources on unbelievers. It doesn’t say to give up and not preach to them but, if they refuse to listen to the truth of the Scriptures, don’t continue to press the issue. You have sown the seed so it is now up to God to make it germinate. If you come up against an atheist, or anyone else, that is complaining about something that is offending him related to God, politely remove it if you can, and yourself away from his presence. You won’t win the argument!

Time is short, folks. Speak to those that will listen to you and are truly seeking the Lord. If you find some that only mocks and ridicules you, walk away. You have done your job. You have sown the seed. However, it will likely be at the end of the time of God’s wrath that they will finally learn the truth — but for most of them, it will be too late.
