Day after day we read comments in the news from the enemies of Israel. They spew venomous lies, hate and condemnation.
– “Israel will be destroyed”
– “Israel will be pushed into the sea”
– “Jerusalem will be a graveyard for the Jews”
– “No one will hear the cries of the Jews”
While the hatred and curses of destruction bubble up we may actually begin to believe that no one hears their cries but we would be wrong.
There is in fact one who hears their cries – YHWH God! He will not stay silent much longer but His passion for His people will be revealed and the anger in His face will rage.
Deuteronomy 4:24
“For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.”
Believe me when I say that a showdown is coming! When the enemies of Israel speak against her they are playing with fire, literally and they will get burned – devoured even. God is a consuming fire and He will devour the enemies of His people.
It is no surprise however that the enemies of Israel are making such boastful declarations, or that they are forming a coalition to come against her to attempt to destroy her – God prophesied it long ago.
Ezekiel 38:17-23
“17 “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: You are the one I spoke of in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel. At that time they prophesied for years that I would bring you against them.18 This is what will happen in that day: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign Lord. 19 In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. 20 The fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground. 21 I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign Lord. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. 23 And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.’”
I find it interesting that in the last days God says “You are the ones I spoke of in the former days, through my prophets and they prophesied of this event for years!” We have no excuse not to recognize the turmoil going on in the Middle East today – God prophesied it and is using it to make a statement – so the world will know HE IS THE LORD!
Zechariah 14:12
“This will be the plague with which Yahweh will strike all the peoples who have warred against Jerusalem: their flesh will consume away while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will consume away in their sockets, and their tongue will consume away in their mouth.”
When the enemies of Israel rise up and come against her they will really be coming against the All Consuming Fire, Jehovah God. He will stand up and protect His people. The enemies of Israel will be consumed – even while standing on their feet their flesh will be consumed, their eyes will be consumed in their sockets and their tongues will be consumed in their mouths by God’s fiery wrath (It eerily resembles a nuclear blast, but this is the power of God.)
I believe it’s time that we all have more respect for the God of Israel. We need to revere Him with fear and admiration. The enemies of Israel have blasphemed Him and profaned His name. In their pride they disrespect Him and spit on Him – but in the coming showdown they will be consumed in His mighty wrath, when He breaks His silence, showing the entire world that He is alive and that He is the Lord!
