EXTREME WEATHER
Severe storms and a tornado outbreak affecting the US this week claimed at least 16 lives . Twelve fatalities in the Midwest are blamed on dangerous road conditions, while at least 4 died in a tornado outbreak in the Deep South. Meanwhile, snow squall warnings were in effect through the Northeast.
The Riau administration in Indonesia declared a state of emergency on Friday after floods and landslides affected more than 62,000 residents and claimed at least 6 lives. Floods have reportedly submerged hundreds of villages in six of the province’s regencies.
A pair of tropical systems emerging in the Philippine Sea will bring the risk for flooding to parts of the Philippines this weekend into next, adding to displacement from the Dec. 15 6.8 earthquake.
Massive floods hit Cantabria, Spain. Residents describe it as the worst in its history.
Widespread flooding after very heavy rain hits southern Iran. At least one person is missing. Around 1,000 people have been affected with as many as 300 displaced. The city of Abadan recorded 113 mm (4.4 inches) of rain in 24 few hours. This is roughly half the usual amount of its annual rainfall.
Widespread floods are affecting the Republic of Congo since October, wreaking havoc and forcing thousands to sleep outside. On Tuesday, the government made an urgent appeal to the international community to help provide an efficient response to the humanitarian situation.

In the Philippines, a 6.8 earthquake struck on Dec. 15. Nine people are dead and one is missing as of Dec. 19. Many buildings have been damaged or destroyed and almost 800 aftershocks have been recorded, including two over 5.0. 33,000 people have been displaced.
In China, a 5.2 earthquake injured five people on Dec. 18.
6.1-magnitude earthquake shook Pakistan, Afghanistan, India on Dec. 20. The epicenter was 30 miles southwest of Jarm in northern Afghanistan but could be felt as far away as New Delhi in India and the Pakistan capital Islamabad. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
A 5.9 earthquake struck off the coast of New Zealand’s Raoul Island on Dec. 18.
In California, a cluster of small earthquakes shook a secretive Navy base in the Mojave Desert on Thursday and before dawn Friday. The base, deep in the California desert near Death Valley National Park, is where the Navy develops and tests its newest weapons. A massive 7.1 earthquake on July 6 was also centered on the base and forced evacuation of the massive installation. That was the biggest earthquake in the area in two decades, according to the USGS. A series of major earthquakes in early July around the Navy base, about 150 miles from Los Angeles, drew worries about “the big one.”
There were several ocean earthquakes between 5.0 and 6.0.

China’s pig herd was thinned by more than half this year due to ASF, pushing spot prices of pork in the region to record levels. There’s no word if ASF is contained in North Sumatra, nor if there were any transmission to wild boar. If there were, it would mean ASF could spread to other provinces. There was also no word if the outbreak is connected with China.
Chinese Gangs Infect Pigs With Swine Fever In Criminal Meat Scheme. Chinese criminals have been flying drones onto farms and infecting perfectly healthy pigs with African swine fever, lowballing the farmer for their sick pigs, and then selling the tainted meat as healthy.

The deadly attack in a New Jersey kosher market last week punctuated several years of growing, increasingly violent incidents of anti-Semitism in the US. The shooting in Jersey City was the third deadly attack at a Jewish space in just over a year.

One eyewitness said police implied that the incident “seemed to be serious.”
ISIS used drones to attack three oil and gas refineries in Syria simultaneously in the city of Homs north of Damascus on Saturday.
Israel’s arrest of “Palestinian” terrorist leader highlights ‘extensive overlaps’ between BDS and terror groups. The arrest of Khalida Jarrar, who ran terror operations in the West Bank and is linked to the BDS movement against Israel, could spur further action by US authorities against BDS entities.

96 MS-13 gang members taken down in huge New York gang bust. Prosecutors believe they will have rendered the central American MS-13 gang “inoperable” in New York’s Suffolk. The investigation included a two-year multi-agency effort that thwarted seven alleged murder plots. Prosecutors believe the charges will constitute the largest gang takedown in New York’s history. In addition to the 96 MS-13 members charged in New York, more than 100 additional arrests were carried out by the DEA. MS-13 was originally formed in Southern California with members from El Salvador. Prosecutors in Long Island have warned since June of 2017 that the gang has set its sights to expand to New York.
The killings previously caught the attention of President Trump, whose presidential platform has included increased border security, including against transnational gangs like the MS-13. “They kidnap, they extort, they rape and they rob. They prey on children, they shouldn’t be here,” Trump said during a July 2017 visit to Suffolk County. “It’s time for every member of MS-13 to be in fear. Look over their shoulder. In Kentucky, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently intercepted nearly 3,000 fake driver’s licenses and more than 3,100 blank card stocks used to make counterfeit licenses, according to The IDs were heading from China to various locations in New York. The licenses were for several states including Florida, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey and Ohio. Fake IDs are frequently bought and sold through “dark web” transactions. They can be linked to human trafficking, identity theft and immigration-related crimes.

The Lebanese capital saw some of worst violence in months of demonstrations as security forces responded to fighting between rival groups. The violence Saturday started when young men from a neighborhood known as a stronghold for supporters of the Shiite Amal and Hezbollah groups attacked the epicenter of anti-government protests, chanting “Shiite, Shiite.” It was the second time this week that pro-Hezbollah and Amal supporters tried to attack the protest camp, angered by demonstrators’ criticism of their leaders.

TURKEY LURKEY: Turkey sent drones to Cyprus as part of an attempt to increase Turkey’s role in the Mediterranean and Middle East. Turkey has a base in Qatar and Somalia and has hinted it will send troops to Libya. Turkey forced an Israeli research ship to leave waters near Cyprus last week. Afterwards, the US announced it would end the arms embargo on Cyprus, prompting threats from Turkey. Senators who spearheaded bill say they hope move will foster cooperation between the Mediterranean island nation, Greece and Israel. The US bill would maintain restrictions on some weaponry and technologies unless Cyprus certifies that Russia is not allowed to dock its military vessels for servicing. Tensions in the Mediterranean have grown after Turkey concluded a maritime agreement with Libya, according to which it claims portions of discovered gas reserves in waters claimed by Greece and Cyprus.
North Korea warns US could ‘pay dearly’ for human rights criticism. The warning was issued by North Korea’s foreign ministry spokesman three days after the UN General Assembly condemned North Korea’s “longstanding and ongoing” human rights violations during an annual resolution sponsored by dozens of countries throughout the globe. During the past months, Israeli security forces have nabbed a terror cell of some 50 Muslim terrorist members of the PFLP terror group that carried out the bombing attack in which 17-year-old Israeli girl Rina Shnerb was murdered. He then burned it outside the strip club. The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is a clinic where children as young as three come to receive puberty-blocking drugs and cross-sex hormone treatment, which can have life-long effects on children. The six former NHS psychologists who spoke with Sky News expressed concerns about the over-authorizing of hormone treatment to children with “gender dysphoria” and felt they couldn’t properly explore underlying psychological factors. Their resignations come at a time when the number of children referred to GIDS for gender dysphoria has increased from 77 in 2009-2010 to 2,590 last year.

Pelosi just got spanked by the Supreme Court. She and Dem minions wanted to rush impeachment proceedings for political reasons, not legal – hoping everyone will forget about it before the election. But SCOTUS will allow time for the president to defend these bogus accusations.

House Democrats insisted they had to rush to vote out articles of impeachment, supposedly to keep President Trump from tainting the 2020 election. Yet now Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she may delay sending them to the Senate. Huh? The House will sit on the articles “for as long as it takes” to ensure a fair trial, the speaker says (yeah, right…pfft). “Is there any better proof of how political this has been from the start? Pelosi has long known Democrats don’t have the Senate votes to remove Trump — and opted not to take more time to build a case that might turn the tide. So now she’s trying to find the best way to play it — and putting the Senate trial on hold in the meantime.”
DEM DIRTY DEEDS DONE DEM CHEAP: President Trump said he wants “an immediate trial!” in the Senate following the decision from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to delay handing off the articles of impeachment to the upper chamber. “So after the Democrats gave me no Due Process in the House, no lawyers, no witnesses, no nothing, they now want to tell the Senate how to run their trial,” he said. Pelosi signaled that she believes the Senate Republicans will not put on a fair trial for Trump, comparing them to a jury “in cahoots” with the accused. When former President Bill Clinton was impeached by the House in 1998, the articles were immediately handed off to the Senate.

Mainsteam Media Dem Minions: Disgust, outrage and anger over Newsweek’s Iran cover. “A once great magazine is reduced to spreading propaganda for the Islamic Republic (of Iran),” wrote Mike Doran of the Hudson Institute. “If Iran falls, ISIS rises again,” was printed across a photo of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “Shame,” “abhorrent,” “disgusting,” “ignorant,” were some of the kinder ways the cover was greeted. Writer and academic Idrees Ahmad tweeted that he spent all day thinking the cover was a joke. “The graphic design is so crude. But turns out the cover is real and the story behind it is even worse.”
