It weakened into a Category 4 hurricane, just 2 km/h below Category 5, prior to landfall, making it the strongest November hurricane to hit the Central American country on record. Hundreds of thousands have been affected by floods and landslides, further worsening the situation in the region still reeling from the devastation of Hurricane “Eta.” The full extent of the damage left by Iota is still unclear.
In the Philippines, the entire Luzon is under state of calamity, following the devastation of successive typhoons Goni (locally named Rolly)– the world’s most powerful storm of the year and the country’s strongest landfalling tropical cyclone– and Vamco (locally known as Ulysses), which triggered the Cagayan Valley’s worst flooding in history. Both storms left massive damage, hundreds of thousands of houses and buildings submerged, and at least 98 people dead.

Dozens of earthquakes have been registered just south of the King George Island, South Shetland Islands, Antarctica over the past 30 days, ranging from 4.7 to 6.0. Human habitation of King George Island is limited to research stations. Over the past 30 days, the USGS has registered 40 earthquakes in the area, with the strongest 6.0 on November 6 at a shallow depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).

At least eight people were killed (and at least 30 injured) Saturday when a barrage of rockets struck densely populated parts of Kabul in Afghanistan, the latest big attack in a wave of violence that has engulfed the capital. Islamic State (ISIS) group claimed responsibility for the salvo, which slammed into various parts of central and north Kabul — including in and around the heavily fortified Green Zone that houses embassies and international firms. Kabul says the Taliban is to blame.

Initial reports from Syria indicate three Syrian militants killed and one injured. The attack targeted warehouses, HQs, military complexes and surface-to-air missile batteries.
IDF Hits Iranian Troops in Syria; Netanyahu Issues Warning to Iran. “We will not allow Iranian military entrenchment against us in Syria, and we will not tolerate any attempt to attack us from Syrian territory. Whoever tries to attack us or attacks us will bear the consequences.” The targets included a barracks used by senior Iranian officers outside Damascus and a base used by Iran to orchestrate its activities in the country next to the Damascus International Airport.
A new phase for Iran’s presence in Syria. Although Israel’s attacks in Syria on Wednesday mainly hit Syrian Army headquarters, under whose patronage Iran’s Revolutionary Guard operates in the region, the airstrikes were mainly a warning directed at Iran. A new strategic challenge has surfaced in Syria following a recently signed agreement between Tehran and Damascus, which will allow Iran to transfer state-of-the-art air defense designed to combat Israeli aerial attacks. This agreement is evident of a new phase in Iran’s presence in Syria, with increased shipments of anti-aircraft and missile systems to Syria, meant to bolsters Assad’s air defenses, with most of them being Russian-made or acquired from Moscow.
Terror cell behind placing of IEDs is Unit 840 of Iran’s Quds Force. The terrorist cell responsible for anti-personnel mines and other improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on the Golan Heights is being operated by Iran’s Quds Force, according to Israel’s IDF. Over the past few months, the IDF has been tracking Quds Force cells that have been trying to plant IEDs near the border. In response to the explosive devices, Israel carried out a wave of strikes that hit eight targets from the Golan Heights to Damascus, killing several military personnel.
Israel has repeatedly warned against Iran’s aspirations of regional hegemony and has admitted to carrying out hundreds of airstrikes as part of its “war between wars” campaign to prevent the transfer of advanced weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon and the entrenchment of its forces in Syria. Although Israel usually refrains from targeting terrorist operatives, some strikes ascribed to it have killed several Hezbollah operatives in southern Syria on the Golan Heights, where the group has been trying to establish a permanent military presence.

Russia to establish naval base in Sudan. Russia plans to establish a military base on Sudan’s Red Sea coast to serve as a logistics center for the Russian navy. Sudan will be part of the Ezekiel invasion of Israel.
Four Rockets Hit Baghdad, Iraq’s Green Zone. The US blames Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran. The attack comes shortly after the US announced plans to reduce troop levels in Iraq from 3,000 to 2,500. Four rockets struck inside an area housing foreign embassies including that of the US, signaling an apparent end to a temporary halt in attacks by Iran-backed militias targeting US presence in the country. Since October 2019, dozens of rocket attacks and roadside bombs have targeted troops, foreign embassies and other installations across Iraq. In response, the US bombed Kataib Hezbollah and other hardline pro-Iran factions it blames for the series of attacks.

Iran has begun feeding uranium hexafluoride (UF6) gas feedstock into the advanced IR-2m uranium-enriching centrifuges installed at its underground plant at Natanz.
