This section is not to discourage those who intend to take the vaccine, but to inform people of some of the side effects people have experienced. Encouragers for the vaccine say it’s a small number in comparison to how many people have been vaccinated. Others who are not so encouraging say those numbers are likely higher than we’re being told.

As for the Covid virus: I have ten relatives who got Covid. Five from the same family got it after a December gathering. The elderly one ended up with pneumonia but recovered. In the past month, four more relatives caught Covid. I was a few feet from my daughter at dinner two days before she came down with Covid, but I didn’t catch it. She was seriously ill but recovered. Her husband got it and recovered. My stepdaughter and her husband caught Covid on vacation. She ended up with pneumonia but is recovering.

As for the vaccine: I have eight relatives and several in laws that I know of who got both shots – either from Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson and Johnson – most with no side effects. One of my sisters, her husband, and an acquaintance (all who’ve had both shots), were exposed to Covid in close quarters but didn’t get it. One relative was sick for a day after the vaccine. However, my other sister who had both vaccines is fighting for her life with double pneumonia and a heart rate lower than normal. She tests negative for Covid, but the hospital staff believes she has it and says to expect this battle to go on for a few weeks. Prayers are very much appreciated. Her name is Mary Ann.

Around 250 firefighters were deployed (along with helicopters) to combat the massive flame. Indonesia: A 6.0 earthquake struck off the coast of western Indonesia on April 19. Issuing a notice to a US carrier over the weekend, FAA warned against flying over the Russian-Ukrainian border due to flight safety risks. They noted “escalating regional tensions between Russia and Ukraine, which could potentially result in no-notice cross-border skirmishes, increased military activities and/or conflict.”

US Issues Rare Warning To Israel: Attacks On Iran Interfering With Vienna Talks. Israeli media reports that the Biden administration in backchannel communications has voiced “displeasure” not only with recent covert attacks – particularly the April 11 incident at the Natanz nuclear site – but its willingness to ‘leak’ its culpability to the public. Missile Fired from Syria missile lands near Israel’s Dimona nuclear reactor; Iron Dome interception fails. Israel and Syria exchanged missile attacks Thursday after Damascus launched an advanced surface-to-air missile that landed in the Negev Desert. Syria fired the missile in response to what it claims was an Israeli Air Force bombing near Damascus. Israel frequently strikes Syria to prevent Iranian entrenchment in the country as well as weapons shipments to Hezbollah in Lebanon. Reports from across the country, including central Israel and Jerusalem, spoke of “loud explosions” that “shook the houses.” The IDF activated its air defense systems in an attempt to intercept the missile, but the attempt failed. The military is investigating why its air defenses failed to intercept the SA-5 and did not intercept the large warhead.
