Racist Black Man Stabs 12-Year-Old Boy in the Neck at McDonald’s While Ranting About ‘White Devils.’ Charles Turner, 51, stabbed a white 12-year-old boy at McDonald’s in Pittsburgh in a clear anti-white hate crime. The child, who is in stable condition, was with his family when the man attacked him. Turner fought with officers and used racial slurs against officers, patrons and employees during his arrest, and bit one of the witnesses.

In the US: Another tornado outbreak this week in the South caused 5 confirmed deaths and major damage across the region. Tornadoes hit Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Georgia on Thursday in a hundred-mile swath. Five deaths occurred in Alabama. Also, last week between March 16-18, there were over 300 reports of severe weather across the South. 49 tornadoes were confirmed in 10 different states. In that three-day span, there were 122 tornado warnings and 279 severe thunderstorm warnings. 38 of those tornado warnings on St. Patrick’s Day, alone. There’s another threat for severe storms over the weekend of March 27-28 in the deep south.
Forecast for Spring: Nasty Drought Worsens for Much of US. With nearly two-thirds of the U.S. abnormally dry or worse, the government’s spring forecast offers little hope for relief, especially in the West where a devastating megadrought has taken root and worsened. Weather service and agriculture officials warned of possible water-use cutbacks in California and the Southwest, increased wildfires, low levels in key reservoirs, and damage to wheat crops. Dust Bowl Conditions Returning to the US? Hotels have closed because they can’t keep the critters out of the rooms. Staff at a grocery store reported catching as many as 600 a night. Some farmers have already lost entire grain harvests to the rampaging mice. One described it as “an absolute plague,” more severe than anything locals have seen in decades. In addition to being a nuisance and business threat, mouse plagues can cause disease.
Rabobank says “biblical” surge in food prices soon to come. US Department of Agriculture says the US is on track to maintain current food stocks based on expectation of maximum acreage planted and healthy yields. However, Rabobank writers Every and Magdovitz disagree, warning that a crisis of “biblical” proportions could be on the way. Key feed and food prices have been pulled to 7-year highs, while exporters stocks have fallen rapidly to 7-year lows. Commodities markets have shifted strongly into backwardation, indicating near-term supply scarcity. Despite the decisive results, coalition building is never simple. Intense negotiations over budgetary allotments and ministerial portfolios will take place before a government is formed. And if small-party leaders place their egos ahead of the national interest, then an extended political deadlock could lead Israelis back to the polls regardless of the clear electoral results.
