God is ALWAYS in control!

We’re all human. Sometimes even Christians waver, go all wobbly, as Margaret Thatcher warned George H.W. Bush against. We sometimes wonder if things are spinning out of control.

Actually, they’re not. Not really. With all the absolute madness going on in the world, we must focus on the Word, and the nature of God. Years ago I read a great book by Claude Duvernoy, Controvery of Zion. He was a friend of my mentor, David Allen Lewis.

Duvernoy coined a term, the Lord of History. I love that. The whole book is an extraordinary look at how in control God really is, no matter what our emotions tell us. I want to point out a couple things regarding Israel, pointing to this truth about God.

In 1967, with Egyptian soldiers massed on the border with Israel, “President” Nasser kept threatening to wipe Israel off the map. As usual, the UN was helpless. Even American President Lyndon Johnson couldn’t be trusted. He warned Levi Eshkol not to respond militarily. The old, tired, dangerous “give diplomacy a chance.” Johnson lived in a huge, powerful country. His vast ranch near Austin, Texas was a long way from any type of danger.

Israelis every morning can see their enemies from their patios.

As May, 1967 bled into June, Eshkol and his advisors had to make a choice.

They chose to preempt.

On the morning of June 5, Israeli warplanes took to the skies. They headed out to the West, which told the Egyptians this was just another dry run, an exercise.

Then they turned sharply to the east. Within minutes, the full Egyptian air force was beneath them, exposed on the ground. Within 30 minutes, Israel took out most of that enemy air force. This was key to a quick, six-day miraculous victory.

You see, for the previous decade, Israel had been working on cutting the time it took to land, re-arm, refuel, and get back in the air. This turnaround time might be the difference between life and death for the Jewish state.

Egypt was doing the same thing, the same kind of exercises. And they got good at it. The Egyptians reduced their turnaround time to eight hours. This gave them confidence.

Except Israel had reduced their turnaround time to eight minutes.

Wow.

I’ve always felt this was not only the product of superior Israeli ingenuity, but act of God.

Now, 60 years later, they find themselves in a similar situation. It was announced this week that the missile defense system known as Iron Beam—an improvement on the 2006 breakthrough Iron Dome—is ready to be used. Iron Dome has knocked-out 90 percent of missiles fired at Israel, but at great financial cost. Each knockdown requires two missiles, and the cost is $40,000 each. So then each time Israel destroys an incoming missile, it costs $80,000! Multiply that by hundreds of such intercepts.

Do you know what the new, laser-beam technology costs to shoot down a missile?

Two bucks.

You read that right. Two to three dollars per intercept. That’s insane! Partly because of that astonishing rate, Israel’s arms sales are going to mushroom, no pun intended. Suddenly, European states, along with the UAE, wants to talk to Israel. When you combine this revenue and oil and gas revenue, Israel is about to get very rich.

Now, as usual, I caution us to speculate too much about how this affects everything prophetically. Some are already analyzing how this fits into Gog-Magog. In other words, how do we square this new information with Israel “dwelling safety”? No walls.

I don’t know.

We simply can’t jam such info into a square or round hole. We just know in general that we are moving forward all the time. If Iran is defanged, how then do we see Persia one day joining a lethal coalition and “coming to take a spoil”?

I don’t know.

It’s enough for us to trust that God is not only guiding all things, but He has gifted us with a front-row seat. Those two “little” stories should thrill us: Israel is powerful and that comes from God. Although we know from Scripture that one day, they will be alone and vulnerable, it’s amazing to see how God is acting right now to preserve the Jewish state.

The Ayatollah might be yesterday’s news by morning, who knows? But we just don’t know what’s going to happen five minutes from now, or six months from now.

Let’s just rejoice and rest in the fact that God guides His People in astonishing, supernatural ways now.

He will see it all through and keep all His promises.

A Fifth Column

For years, I’ve written about the enemies of the Jews. Almost always abroad: neo-Nazis, jihadists, European jugheads.

I’ve also written about some homegrown foes, including those in the evangelical community.

Those almost bother me more.

This week on social media, I got into a fairly contentious conversation with a person prominent in discernment circles. It was yet another Reformed crowd attempt at marginalizing and belittling Israel and the Jews. Here’s how such a conversation usually goes:

I address a very specific point they have raised. The response is always—always—some sort of dodge. I’ll give two examples, starting with this one days ago.

• The discernment person in question linked to an article by an outfit I won’t name because I don’t want to platform them, as the “discernment” (ironic) person did. The article referenced Nick Fuentes, a virulent Jew-hater (NOTE: I have begun using the term “Jew-hater” rather than “anti-Semite” because I don’t think the latter is a strong enough term). Also referenced was Joel Webbon and J.D. Hall. I labeled both of them as Jew-haters, as well. You can Google them if you want. You see, there is a certain set within the professing Christian (get it?) community that denies the Holocaust happened, or its scope. They call Jews “Christ killers.” They also call Jews “parasites.”

This type of filth is gaining ground, I think, mostly due to the internet. When I responded to this original poster more than once, the response back devolved into labeling me a “Dispensationalist,” and focused on eschatology. Now, I think their eschatology is very bad, but my responses were mostly limited to calling-out ghouls that use “parasite,” etc. Classic, Medieval-era Jew-hatred, which has its roots in the Church, by the way. However, the responses back to me threw in other subjects; this a way to divert attention from my points. My entire work career has been in journalism, research, writing, editing. I know how the manipulation of language works. Projection. A person that can’t prove his own point will always resort to these tactics. For example, if I note historical documentation that Hitler was a demonic gargoyle that targeted the weak and defenseless, and caused the deaths of 50 million people, the Hitler-lovers will respond that he bolstered the German economy, brought back national pride, and, oh yeah, a member of Nebraska’s punt return team during the fabled 1971 game with Oklahoma committed a clipping penalty on Johnny Rodgers’ punt return. In other words, throw out everything and anything that takes the spotlight off the demonic Hitler and his gang of criminals.

This is the treatment I got from the original social media poster I keep referring to. I was accused of having flawed eschatology, etc. You see, I know that this has zero to do with calling out classic Jew-hatred (parasites, Christ killers, Holocaust deniers, etc., etc.).

Watch for this and don’t let yourself be a victim in these types of discussions. In fact, I have learned after nearly 30 years that engaging such religious vampires is pointless—unless you are trying to appeal to their deceived audiences. “Changing” that person’s mind, however, is folly. A waste of time.

• Now to a person I will name. J.D. Hall is what I would describe as a theological pugilist. Unfortunately, he will love that label and probably uses it in his bio. A sample of his loathing of Jews and Israel is found here. It’s the tip of the iceberg. Hall is part of the Hate Israel crowd subverting evangelicalism and the pro-Israel movement.

I corresponded with him several years ago, in a different context. Then, he was more about exposing apostasy in the Church, something I now find ironic.

He was away from the battles for several years but emerged last year. This time with a bone to pick with Jews and their supporters.

Among other things, he pushes the conspiracy theory that Jews got hold of the Scofield Bible and edited it to push “Jewish supremacy.” I assume they did this under the literal direction of Stanley Kubrick (A Jew, you know!) during the *cough* faked moon landings.

When I noticed a few months ago that he was using his X account to demonize Jews and Israel, I took the opportunity to respond a few times. My response was something along the lines of this:

“What do you do with the following verses: Ezekiel 37:11; Jeremiah 30 and 31; Isaiah 49:26; Deuteronomy 30. There are many more.”

To my knowledge, he has not responded to those. That is a very “telling tell.” When a person continuously deflects from a central point, that is a strong indication he cannot in actual fact back up his assertions. One must go through torturous mental gymnastics in trying to deny the Divine promises to the Jews. It is painful to watch, and destructive to anyone that falls under that spell.

Many of you, if you check out J.D. Hall’s Goebbels-like propaganda, will see the holes in his “arguments.” Theological, historical, geopolitical—on all these counts he gets it very wrong about Israel and the Jews. But acute arrogance does that to a person. You’ll see that, too. In spades. By the way, I recommend two terrific Bible teachers that can torpedo the arguments of the Jew-haters: Chris Quintana and Randy White. You can thank me later.

It’s no secret that people like Hall and Webbon move in the Tucker Carlson circles.

Now back to the original point, the discernment person I dialogued with on social media.

I was told that this person doesn’t know who Nick Fuentes is. I find this hard to believe. Fuentes, a self-appointed expert in cultural and political issues, has 1.2 million followers on X. He has been platformed by Carlson. Fuentes is perhaps the most extreme public Jew-hater in America today. Hard to believe a Christian in discernment circles doesn’t know who he is.

After that revelation about Nick Fuentes the Invisible Man, the comments then centered around my own personal views of eschatology. Again, my comments were very specific regarding Holocaust denial, “parasites,” and “Christ killers.”

All this type of rhetoric has gotten Jews murdered over millennia. I can tell you that I am profoundly relieved that one day, I will not have to stand before my Creator and explain why I hated His People.

Others won’t have it so good.

This Fifth Column of Jew haters in American religious circles are on the wrong road of History. But you couldn’t tell it by them.

I felt it necessary to bring up this topic this week. I will repeat something I’ve said before, a paraphrase of a famous quote from Will Rogers: I never met a Jew I didn’t like.

I know a lot of them, both in Israel and in the Diaspora. God chose them.

As long as there is breath in my body, Jews have at least one friend in the Christian community. I’ve been to Israel many times. One day I will live there. The Lord has loved them with an everlasting love, and that’s good enough for me.

I read my Bible, recorded by Jews. I anxiously await the return of the Messiah, Who is a Jew. One day, I will walk around the New Jerusalem, its gates and foundation stones bearing Jewish names. My Creator will reign from Zion. I will spend eternity with the first Christians, who are Jews.

The haters are in for a cosmic surprise.
