The Coming Reckoning
Everyone remembers Donald Trump’s vow immediately after winning the White House again. He issued a warning to Hamas: free our hostages, or face withering consequences.
We are now a little more than two weeks from inauguration. This has the same feel as Ronald Reagan’s vow in 1980 after winning the presidency. He told the mullahs to release our hostages—held more than a year in the era of Jimmy Carter’s soggy Oval Office occupation—and sure enough, they were on a plane bound for the U.S. as the inauguration commenced.
Does anyone really believe Hamas can stall Trump? I don’t.
The question is, how is this going to play out?
This week, Israel upped its game against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. At least two-thirds of the terrorists there have been eliminated in the past year. All the senior leadership is dead. The strategy now is to put maximum pressure on Hamas to release all hostages and at the moment, the IDF is killing lower-level Hamas leadership, the ones coordinating the continuous re-arming of what’s left of the terror group in Gaza.
There are myriad problems of course with the hostage situation. Urban warfare, various Palestinian factions even within Hamas, and the complete failure of the international community to advocate effectively for the hostages. A few leaked reports of the tortures they are enduring are so ghastly, one wonders how they will function if they are freed.
One thing Hamas and Iran did not count on was Israel’s response. It has been devastating. The devil Sinwar fully expected outside pressures would stop Israel from responding effectively. That was a grave miscalculation, pun intended. The IDF operation there has so destroyed Gaza, it will take decades to rebuild. Residents there are living in tents and I say, very much deserved. The photos of the leveled buildings is something to behold. It’s like Dresden 1945 on a much larger scale.
Of course, the demonic influences in this fetid place make the crocodile tears of Palestinians meaningless—at least to me.
The IDF has destroyed an “Officers’ Compound” in northern Gaza this week. There is a shock-and-awe operation going on in the region, as Israel ramps up pressure in anticipation of a completely different dynamic with Trump in office. There’s no other way to say it: the illegitimate Biden Regime committed treason by aiding and abetting our enemies, including and especially Muslim terrorists in the Middle East. They got people killed and they emboldened the worst people on the planet.
Israel has been doing the heavy lifting, but the question now is, how will the U.S. respond if the hostages aren’t on their way home in two weeks? Options range from sanctions and freezing bank accounts to actual military operations. It wouldn’t be the first time American special ops was in the region. One largely unknown example came in 2002, during the Second Intifada, when PLO terrorists took over the Church of the Nativity and desecrated sacred sites. U.S. commandos were dispatched then, and no doubt countless times we aren’t aware of.
Incredibly, because of U.S. diplomatic support, Hamas is still able to continue the mirage of “negotiations” for a ceasefire, and the killers want a deal as soon as possible, for obvious reasons. That nonsense is about to stop. For one thing, Hamas wants a permanent withdrawal of Israeli forces. That will never happen, which proves that the continued torture of hostages has no other purpose other than cruelty.
Whatever happens, Hamas is being finished. Let us hope that sanity returns to Washington the next four years, so that the demons that haunt our world will be kept at bay, if not outright destroyed.
