Hear No Evil, See No Evil Over :: by Grant Phillips

For the benefit of those who would inform me that I omitted “Speak No Evil,” I purposely did so, because it is not relevant to what I have to say in this article.

We are currently living in an age of complacency, or should I say, “The” age of complacency? Judgment is at the door, but very few are aware.

Hal Lindsey had much to do with re-kindling the interest of our times with his book, The Late Great Planet Earth in 1970. That was over forty years ago, and God has brought forth many others who have become aware that we are in the last days of the Church age (Age of Grace). Since then many students of Bible prophecy have come forth to announce that our time is running out and to teach these great truths. Unfortunately, some charlatans have also contributed the whisperings of Satan in an effort to offset the clear message of God about the days we are now in. Some are listening to the Lord Jesus’ warnings, but many are not.

I am reminded of Jesus’ comments to His disciples in Luke 17:26-30:

26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Jesus said that in both the days of Noah and the days of Lot people were; eating and drinking, marrying, becoming engaged to marry, buying, working their jobs, and building.

Now honestly, is there anything wrong with those things? No there isn’t. Jesus wasn’t condemning those things, but was saying that they were living in the present and planning for the future as if they had all the time in the world and not a care in the world. Everything, domestic and otherwise, was “business as usual,” then judgment came. They lived their lives as they chose with no thought of God, their Creator. Therefore, God said, “That’s enough” and everything came to a screeching halt.

Marriages, engagements, jobs, building projects, everything in their lives ended, suddenly, and without further notice. Our world today is no different. The flood of Noah’s day and the judgment of Lot’s day are now our day of judgment that is fast approaching, the Tribulation period. In Noah’s day and Lot’s day there were warnings, complacency, and then judgment. We are in the midst of the warnings and the complacency. Next is the judgment, the final phase.

We have received our warnings for some time now. How much longer we will be warned of the coming judgment is up to God.

We have become more and more complacent as we draw nearer, each day, to the third and final scene.

Again, the next thing on the agenda is judgment. The Day of the Lord is near, even at the door. In Noah’s day, eight people were removed and then the rains came. In Lot’s day, four people were removed and then judgment fell. Could it be that only a very few will be removed (Rapture) prior to God’s judgment falling upon this world?

I also notice in the Scriptures that when God shut the door to the Ark, judgment started. Also, when Lot and his daughters were safe in Zoar, judgment started. Both judgments came swiftly and lethally. This leads me to believe that once the Church is removed (Rapture) to safety in Heaven, judgment will start immediately.

The title of this article is “Hear No Evil, See No Evil,” so I must mix another ingredient into the pot; i.e. evil. That makes sense. If we are being complacent, the question must be asked, “complacent about what?” We have become complacent not only about our normal daily living, but also the evil that is saturating our society. So let us consider these verses from Genesis chapter six:

1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

In these verses the Lord tells us of the evil He beheld upon the earth at the time of Noah. Fallen angels were having intercourse with earthly women in an attempt to destroy the pure blood-line of mankind and therefore were producing inhuman beings. This was an attempt to corrupt the blood-line of the Messiah, and thereby nullify Genesis 3:15, “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” Satan did not want the Messiah bruising his head, but guess what; He did anyway, at the cross and the empty grave.

God said that the wickedness of man was so great on the earth that man continually performed every vile sin conceivable. That pretty much leaves out “nothing.” You name it. They did it … continually.

Well, how about the good folk of Lot’s day? What were they into? In Genesis 18:20 we read these words:

And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;

In reading the entire account, the sin that was so indignant to the Lord concerning these people is homosexuality. It doesn’t take much to conclude that if Sodom, Gomorrah and the other cities around them had reached this degree of sin in their society, they were already up to their necks in every other kind of sin imaginable. Again, you name it, they did it, but God had enough of the nauseating stench that floated up from earth.

So here we are today. There is not even a microscopic doubt in my mind that the people of Noah and Lot’s day were involved in every conceivable sin the human mind can possibly conceive on its most wicked day. I know this, because that is exactly what God’s Word says. Do we qualify? Do birds fly? Do babies cry? If Noah’s society and Lot’s society were mirrors, we in the 21stcentury could look within and vividly see our own image in full color.

So far I have stated that we have become just as complacent, concerning the evil in our society, as those in Noah and Lot’s day. But there is one more thing we have become complacent toward; being saved from the judgment to come.

The folks in Noah’s day had 120 years to repent and get on the Ark, but instead, all but Noah’s family laughed it off and perished.

Apparently, in Lot’s case, none but he and his family were even worth considering for repentance, they were so corrupt. However, it is my opinion, they were all warned.

We are being warned today that we can be saved from the wrath of God that will soon come upon the whole earth, but few are listening. Are the results going to be the same as yesteryear? Consider the following:

“What experience and history teach is this – that people and governments never have learned anything from history, or acted on principles deduced from it.”

G. W. F. Hegel

“We learn from history that we learn nothing from history.” George Bernard Shaw

“Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” George Santayana

Let’s take a peak at just a few, just a “very” few, of our societal lifestyle sins against a Holy God in the 21st century.

Hollywood keeps cranking out the filth and we, as a society, keep watching it and craving more, and due to our support, it gets viler with each passing year.

Murders are increasing and getting more gruesome, and the murderers have more rights than the victims.

We are raising children to become Godless, selfish, heartless monsters.

Our scientific labs are racing to produce future man-made “humans” by playing with DNA.

Unborn babies are being sacrificed on the altar of convenience. There is now the whispering of considering babies up to a certain age for this blood sacrifice.

Lying, cheating, theft, promiscuity consume the ranks of our society. No respect, let alone love, is shown our fellow man.

Our society hates anything associated with the one true God, but instead bows before the false gods of false religions.

Our one true god is greed, whether it is associated with money, adultery, fornication, and power, anything that puts us over and above anyone else.

The lowest and most vile sexual acts one could conceive are out in the open, such as homosexuality, and the innocence of children stolen, and that’s just an introduction.

We attempt to feminize little boys and make tomboys out of little girls.

The “for better or worse, ‘til death do us part” has been tossed out the window of marriage. Divorce and “shacking up” is common place. Worse yet, spouses are murdered by their own mates for convenience and/or money.

Now that is just some of the bad stuff, and I emphasize “some.” Now let’s take a gander at another angle.

All this and more is going on around all of us every day we breathe, and what do most of us do? At best, we may let out a sigh, but normally just go on about our business; pretty much with the attitude of, “As long as it doesn’t affect me, who cares.”

I find that even among honest, everyday people, some who even claim to be Christians, there seems to be no degree of urgency about a coming judgment, a judgment that is probably much closer than we dare realize.

We currently have the most dangerous, anti-God President this country has ever seen, and we think it’s about politics. We have the most corrupt Congress this country has ever seen, and we think it’s just politics. It isn’t just politics. It is a satanic movement corrupting the leadership of this once great God-fearing country.

The so-called music of our times is destroying our children and what do we do? We continue to allow our children to absorb it into their little brains.

The God some of us claim to worship is not first-place in our lives. Does He even rank within the top ten?

Corrupt, evil people are destroying our Constitution and Bill of Rights, hence our country, and what do we do? We vote the same people back in office.

Corrupt, evil people in the pulpits and seminaries of America are attempting to destroy the real truth of God’s Word, the Bible, and what do we do? Since they make us feel good, we send them more money, so they can keep up their lavish lifestyle.

As long as the church will entertain us, feed us, and provide a warm and fuzzy feel-good sermon, we do nothing. Just tell us how great we are and ignore our sinful lifestyles and everything is hunky-dory. “Surely God understands.”

Our country, from the White House to the pulpits of America, is rapidly turning its back on the nation of Israel. “Oh, that’s okay. It’s just politics.” It isn’t politics folks, its suicide.

Just as the twin towers fell to the ground on September 11, 2001, we as a society are falling apart because of the sin in our lives that we are unwilling to give up. We have become complacent and there is nothing left but the judgment of God. We can ignore it, but that won’t change the outcome any more than it did for the people of Noah and Lot’s day.

So off to work we go, or the golf course, or to the lake or even the comfort of our own home. We shop for groceries, clothes and anything else that suits our fancy. And heaven forbid. We would never miss a ballgame or our favorite TV sitcom.

In all this day-to-day activity, how much thought is given that Jesus may be right at the door of Heaven to begin His judgment on this world after first removing (Rapture) His own (the Church)? Many God-fearing Christians are looking to the skies eagerly anticipating His call, but that is only a minority. Most don’t give a hoot, because they are just too comfortable in their own little Godless world.

Complacency rules the day. It really surprises me at the number of people who “see no evil, and hear no evil,” because they seem to think everything is just going to get better. It’s going to be okay. We’re in the party mode. No joke! Look around you. There is little to no thought of God within our decadent society.

“Let’s just love everybody. If those negative Christians would just shut up and stop condemning everything, we could live in peace.” My friends, the day will soon arrive when you won’t have to worry about we negative Christians who just keep condemning everything you love. We’ll be gone.

Jesus is coming soon.

The people of Noah’s day had a chance to get on the Ark and be saved. All but a handful died without Christ.

The people of Lot’s day had the opportunity to leave the cities that were to be destroyed. All but a handful died without Christ.

People today have the opportunity to call upon the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and by faith put their trust in Him. Time is running out. You can shrug your shoulders and go your way, or you can be saved from the coming judgment. It’s up to you. Very soon will be the “last call.”

Religion In America :: by Grant Phillips

Much debate has been exercised, verbally and written, concerning whether or not America was founded as a Christian nation. Tons of evidence has been provided by others that clearly delineate the facts. Therefore, I am not going to quote all the many sources that are available in answering this question.

Straight to the point … The United States of America was originally founded by those who feared, loved and worshiped the God of the Holy Bible; i.e. the Jewish God, the Christian God, who are the same. The Bible was the first textbook in the schools, and the Constitution rings forth the principles of God’s Word.

Yes, we were originally a Christian nation … not perfect … with faults, but a Christian nation who feared the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The same God who gave His life upon a Roman cross to save all who would come to Him … the same God who three days later left an empty grave … the same God who formed His Church and will soon return for her in an event commonly known as the Rapture.

Was everyone at the time of our country’s beginning a Christian? Well, of course not. But the facts cannot be denied that our nation was set up by those who feared God and incorporated His Word in our country’s foundation. Christianity had a very strong influence in the lives of the people, whether they were personally a Christian or not. Even those who did not claim Christianity as their own respected what it stood for.

Are we a Christian nation now? In my opinion, we are, with respect to what our founding fathers set up; i.e. the Constitution and Bill of Rights. However, these two documents are quickly eroding under the socialistic maneuvering of Satan’s followers.

I ask again. Are we a Christian nation now? In practice, we are not, but we are very religious, and religion is destroying us. But you say, aren’t they the same? I’m glad you asked.

Christianity, simply put, is a relationship with the one and only true God, the God of the Bible, which has been made possible by God’s grace.

Religion is the exact opposite. It is the rejection of God’s work in favor of the acceptance of one’s own work.

In Christianity God provides all the works, mankind provides none. Man’s only hope is to accept what God has so freely provided by His Son, Jesus Christ.

In religion mankind is always at work, either thinking himself “good enough” or “working to gain God’s favor or a god’s favor.”

Christianity and religion are like oil and water. They do not mix, and are therefore totally incompatible.

A dilemma has arisen in this country concerning Christianity. We were at one time a Christian nation. For us to remain a Christian nation, the religion of those coming into our country as new citizens, aliens, or illegal aliens would have to be rejected. However, that would violate the First Amendment of our Constitution. No good American, Christian or otherwise, would choose that path. We must allow all who reside in our country the right to choose their own spiritual state.

There are now many, many different religions in this country. Many of those same religions claim to be Christian, but are not. (Wearing a mink coat doesn’t make you a mink, and wearing alligator shoes won’t make you an alligator.)

One of the factors that has hurt Christianity in this country is the influx of false gods from religions that have been introduced from other countries. The question arises, how could this have been resolved in the past to keep true Christianity at the forefront today?

In some countries, if your beliefs do not coincide with those of that country, you could easily face persecution of the cruelest means. However, does not India, for example, have a right to enjoy their Hindu religion? Do not the Arab nations, for example, have the right to retain their belief in Islam? Yes to both, but they have no right, by Almighty God, to persecute those who do not accept their religion. Unfortunately, it happens, every day, and God will judge them.

But what about us? Some of the other countries retain their state religion by force. I realize we lost this fight so long ago it is now a mute point, but is there anything that could have been done for us to keep this country a predominately Christian nation? I think there is.

If greed had not invaded the godless leaders we have had over the years, and leaders of the same stature of those who founded this country were leading us, laws could have been enacted to protect the sanctity of our Christian heritage of the past. (Actually, are they not already there … the Constitution?)

Without squelching the rights of false religions that outsiders have brought into this country, many could have been turned to God by Christian evangelism.

If religions such as Islam, threatened or harmed any US citizen for leaving Islam for Christianity, those who are guilty could be held legally responsible and at the least, put on a boat and returned to wherever they came from.

If Christianity or a false religion wanted to proselytize they would be free to do so, peacefully, and here is where I think Christianity would win. It has already been demonstrated in countries that persecute, that many will come to Christ if given the opportunity, even if there be persecution by their own people. And true Christians evangelize in love, not hate.

If we had stayed the course with our forefathers, those who hate Christianity and would seek to remove any hint of God could be told “We love you, but if you’re unhappy, you’re welcome to leave and go haunt some other country. This is a Christian country, and a Christian country it will remain.”

Unfortunately, the “leaders” of this great country have no desire to retain the Christian heritage we were given by our forefathers. More and more, our hands are being tied behind our backs as Christians. God is kicked out of this and kicked out of that, while His true followers are being labeled hate mongers.

Even though we have missed a great opportunity, the God of our fathers is offering us a new opportunity.

Jesus said, “19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20 ESV)

This country has sent out thousands of missionaries over the years to other countries telling others about Jesus Christ. Not all of us can be foreign missionaries, or can we? The Lord is now allowing millions of people to come to this land who do not know Him. Even though Satan is trying to shut us down, we have an opportunity to tell others who come from many different countries about Jesus Christ.

If our “leaders” had protected the sanctity of Christianity as mentioned above, our job would be easy.  In addition to our own government, another quirk that has made our witnessing to foreign peoples in this land even more difficult are the religions in America that call themselves Christian, yet they’re no more Christian than my fishing rod. If that isn’t enough, we also have those who are Christian, but are so Biblically ignorant it’s shameful and disgraceful.

My wife reminded me of a saying, “If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas,” which reminds me of another, “One rotten apple spoils the barrel.” These idioms are very descriptive of our spiritual slide into religiosity. We have allowed ourselves over the years to entertain other gods and move away from the one true God. Now we are so steeped in religion, we have no room for God.

For those who are followers of Jesus Christ and recognize this, the window of opportunity is closing. The apostate church reigns alongside pagan religions in this once Christian country. Regardless of where we put the blame, we are no longer a Christian nation. To the contrary, we are now a heathen nation due to our becoming so religious. Even though the tide of heathenism is swelling, there are still many who claim the name of Jesus Christ, many who are truly Christian. This is the group Jesus is speaking to. This is the group He is expecting to tell others about Him. Are we listening?
