Peace Built On Shifting Sand :: By Dave Hubley

Let me begin by including a quote from the Lord Jesus relative to the pursuit of peace:

“Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9, The Word of God).

I applaud President Trump for his open mention of the One True God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, even though I do not believe that he truly knows Him or understands Him, but it is further proof of God’s Sovereignty over all humans to complete His plan for humanity.

I applaud the efforts of President Trump and those who have played a role in bringing about this oh-so-fragile peace. It has not been this quiet in Gaza in a very long time.

But it is not truly peaceful in Gaza. The reality is that Hamas has already resumed its violence by murdering so-called traitors in front of women and children. Are these people actually traitors? We know Hamas’ reputation for victimizing their own citizens, their tactical application of truth, and their love of brutality.

As of today (10 Oct 2025), reports are emerging that Hamas is already reneging on the “deal” they allegedly signed off on. No surprise there. Deception rears its ugly head.

They thrive on violence and live for it. How can any reasonable person expect to live at peace with that kind of demonic behavior?

“From the fruit of a man’s mouth he enjoys good, But the desire of the treacherous is violence” (Proverbs 13:2). Emphasis added.

I also share in the well-advised caution of Israel in that they are maintaining a wait-and-see attitude and, for the time being at least, staying alert and aware.

They have heard this song before.

Now we see that their caution is merited.

Unfortunately, they will fall for the empty promises of man at some point in the (possibly near) future, drop their guard, and become a land of “unwalled villages” (Ezekiel 38:11).

At that time, God will personally and directly intervene on behalf of His people, Israel, and it will be undeniable who is their true Protector.

For those who read and pay careful attention to the Word of God, it quickly becomes clear that every verse or principle is clarified, either directly or indirectly, in at least one other verse in His Word. By this, it becomes necessary to consider the context of every verse with the balance of Scripture. That is, I believe, His intended purpose.

There can be no conflicts in the Word of God.

So, with this in mind, how should we realistically view this “peace and safety” that is being lauded all over the world?

When proclamations of lasting “peace and safety” are made by human governments and leaders with the attitude that “there, problem solved, see what we have done!” to believe it requires that the Word of God must be ignored, allegorized, or marginalized.

God’s Word does not permit that attitude to prevail, and fulfilled prophecy proves it.

Then, there is the matter of continuing to divide God’s land, which still lies at the core of all this activity. Continued support, even of the current fragmentation of the borders, without any additional division, still constitutes the “dividing” which God has declared will be His motivation for executing the promise of His judgments prophesied in the Book of Joel. The countdown continues unabated, as we should expect.

“Yes, in those days and at that time, when I restore Judah and Jerusalem from captivity, I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning My people, My inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations as they divided up My land(Joel 3:1-2). Emphasis added.

It is always wise to remember God’s prophecies that have been fulfilled and consider them the plumbline for those that are looming on the horizon of world events.

“Behold, the Protector of Israel will neither slumber nor sleep” (Psalm 121:4).

When human “leaders” and governments make their plans and “solutions” without fully considering and honoring the One True God, there will be consequences.

When “deals” are struck between them despite God’s clearly expressed will, it is important to realize that God already addressed that hubris thousands of years ago.

“’Woe to the rebellious children,’ says the LORD, ‘Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin’” (Isaiah 30:1).

“They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly, Saying, ‘Peace, peace!’ When there is no peace” (Jeremiah 6:14). Emphasis added.

Where are we today?

History confirms that unreasoning hatred of the Jews has only increased over time and is especially vitriolic since May 14, 1948, with the rebirth of the State of Israel, an event prophesied by God’s Word. Today, that hatred grows and will soon explode once again.

As with all of His prophecies, Israel’s promised rebirth was fulfilled in minute detail.

“Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children” (Isaiah 66:8). Emphasis added.

The promise and a declaration of peace without regard to God will be futile, as it has always proven to be. Its end result will be the most chaotic time in human history.

“For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape” (1 Thessalonians 5:3).

Now to the crux of this article.

For my sisters and brothers who may be placing too much trust in secular human endeavor and so forget the Word of God, remember the Author of our salvation and His timeless promises to us that were given directly to John on the Isle of Patmos: that He will bring about the only true peace. The full import of this is made in Revelation 19:10:

“For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Revelation 19:10).

Will this be the time directly pointing to the prophecy of sudden destruction spoken of in (1 Thessalonians 5:3) above comes about, or will it be an additional type pointing to a future literal fulfillment?

We can’t know for certain, but if it is, then the Rapture of the Church must be very close indeed. We must remain sober, cognizant of the words of Jesus, and alert.

“And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mark 13:37).

These terms, “peace and safety,” have never been more loudly declared than they are right now, so as in the signs of the times caution given by Jesus, it would be wise to consider:

But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash” (Matthew 7:26-27, The Word of God). Emphasis added.

The fulfillment of the balance of the ancient prophesies is piling up.

For those who have thus far ignored or rejected the call of the Holy Spirit expressed in these Words of Jesus, please read the Special message included below.

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).

If you choose to act, are in earnest, and are sincere, it is not too late, but you must do so in your living years.

The special message I promised you:

For anyone who may read this article and has not trusted in Jesus Christ and therefore has no hope or peace in your life.

You can have hope. You can have the peace that Jesus has promised to all who have made Him their Lord and Savior. The peace that passes understanding.

It requires that you come before God on His terms and that you do so in your living years.

And, what are His terms according to His Word?

  • Genuine repentance (turning to God instead of continuing to reject or ignore Him).
  • Confession of sins (that you are a sinner and acknowledge that to God).
  • That you understand that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
  • To acknowledge to God that you are unable to pay that debt.
  • Belief that Jesus Christ paid your death sentence for you on the cross and rose from the grave three days later, conquering death, just as He promised.
  • To believe that Jesus is the Way, the only Way, that God has established by which humans may be saved from the consequences of their sin and rebellion.

God has made it absolutely clear that there is no one who comes before Him, under His terms, that will be refused.

  • No one: no race, no color, no country of origin, regardless of any previous belief system: no one.
  • No matter what your past sins have been, God can and WILL forgive you because He says He will.
  • Salvation is available to everyone without any exceptions.

If you put all your trust for salvation in Jesus, and Him only, you can follow that prayer up by simply saying, “Thank you, Father God, for hearing my prayer and saving me,” because we can trust Him to keep His Word. He always has. He always will.

“Truly, Truly, I say to you that he who hears My words and believes the One who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned. He has crossed from death to life” (John 5:24).

There are no answers and there is no hope in the world by governments, organizations, politics or politicians. There are only lies and deception. But you can have the Truth and the peace you seek.

The answers are in the Word of God—The Bible. If you ask God, with all your heart, He will hear you.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).

You Don’t Need Gimmicks :: By Nathele Graham

Why is it that, today, many preachers seem to think they need a gimmick in order to draw people into their church?

Every so often, I hear someone say that the younger generation is bored by the traditional teachings, so we need to have more modern music or a preacher who jumps around like a wild man on a pogo stick. Somehow, I just don’t think that’s necessary. Most of the old hymns have a deep message in the words that many modern songs miss.

The word of God isn’t boring. Jesus didn’t have a gimmick, yet the people flocked to Him. The Apostles didn’t use gimmicks, but their faithful teaching of the Gospel allowed God’s truth to reach the far corners of the world. The congregation in Corinth was “woke” and tried to fit in with the culture of the time; Paul was quite straightforward in criticizing them. He didn’t congratulate them on their innovative way of worship or their all-inclusive way of preaching. Paul preached the Gospel without compromise.

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:1-2).

There is no other way for anybody to be saved except through understanding the Gospel of Christ. What could be more exciting than the fact that our sins, no matter how big, can be forgiven? When we repent of the sin that separates us from God and ask Him to forgive us, we are no longer on the highway to Hell, but on the highway to Heaven. The problem is that so many preachers today don’t preach the pure word of God. One preacher I know will quote from his “favorite atheist” or from Bob Dylan and other rock stars, but Scripture is a secondary issue.

Paul didn’t use fancy words or water down the Gospel. He often paid a price for his honesty, but he didn’t let beatings or imprisonment silence him.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

When was the last time you heard that from the pulpit? Even those who have been raised attending church need to hear that message.

It’s obvious that the teaching in Corinth had deviated from the pure truth of God’s word; they were very prideful because they accepted sin into their congregation.

Sinners should always be welcome into worship services, but not influence the teachings. We are all sinners and need to be forgiven. Christians need to show love towards those who need to come to salvation, but until they have repented and turn from their sins, they cannot be leaders in the church. Today, there are preachers who misrepresent God’s word, and are more worried about offering plates overflowing than God’s truth being taught.

When people first began to accept the Gospel, it was more important to care for each other and be sure God’s word wasn’t compromised than to entertain and tickle ears. They mostly met in homes, so there was no big building or large pastor’s salary to support. They shared what they had, so nobody was left wanting. Christians need to care for each other. We are to share the Gospel with the unsaved, but we are to care for the needs of fellow believers.

And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things in common… Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need” (Acts 4:32, 34 & 35).

The people cared for each other and made sure those in need were helped. The focus was on caring for fellow Christians. In today’s congregations, it seems we care more for non-Christians but fail to share the Gospel with them, and Scripture isn’t preached from the pulpits. Barnabas was a man who seemed to go the extra mile for his brothers and sisters in Christ.

And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet” (Acts 4:36-37).

Barnabas must have been a special man. He was a man who understood how to serve the Lord. It was Barnabas who brought Paul to the Apostles in order for them to accept him, and then Barnabas went on missionary journeys with Paul. These trips were to spread the Gospel. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying you have to sell all you have and give it to fellow Christians, but if you can drive a widow to the doctor, or cook a meal for a man who has just lost his wife, or if you can help an elderly brother or sister with home repairs, or mow their lawn, that’s caring for fellow Christians.

There were no gimmicks in the early church. The Gospel was shared, and people responded. It seems as if in these last days, the word of God is hidden. Are we ashamed of our Lord? Paul wasn’t.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Romans 1:16).

Only Jesus can save a person from eternal damnation. That’s the best news ever, and a very exciting message. If we share the Gospel with the lost, invite them into our congregations, disciple them and care for them, you might be surprised how many people will come to salvation. If the lost come to see a sideshow rather than a worship service, will they ever hear about their sins keeping them from salvation? Will they ever come to true faith in Christ?

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:13-14).

People need to hear the pure word of God with no gimmicks and not watered down. God hasn’t changed, and His word is the same truth it has always been. We cannot change His truth in order to appeal to people. If we do, then God’s word is taught as a lie, and God cannot lie. It’s people who need to change, not God. Gimmicks won’t bring salvation.

Do you have a garden? There’s a season when tomatoes grow, and a season when they don’t. So, when planting a garden, it’s important to plant seeds in the correct growing season. Planting the seeds of God’s word is never out of season. It may be more difficult for the seeds to grow in hardened hearts, but the seeds need to be planted. The Apostle Paul saw the importance of teaching the pure word of God, and he gave guidelines for pastors.

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:1-2).

This is very clear. Stand solidly upon Scripture. People like to say, “Don’t judge me,” but to reprove and rebuke is to use Scripture to help a fellow Christian to walk closer to the Lord. Unbelievers have no basis for moral behavior, but Christians have Scripture, and it isn’t judging to use it to guide us.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

Remember, Paul was writing to a pastor and talking about Christians. If your pastor doesn’t preach from Scripture, then you need to dig into it yourself. Use it to shine its light on your life to see what needs to change in you to allow you to walk closer to God. If there are attitudes that need to change, then pray and ask God to help you to honor Him with your life.

You don’t need gimmicks when you have God’s truth.

God bless you all

Nathele Graham
