In Christ Alone
That about says it all, doesn’t it? Our digital sign outside our church this week states: Jesus is enough! That’s it also. What more could we ask for? The title of this article I chose is from a contemporary hymn/ song that’s been around for a long time.
It is a very popular contemporary hymn that is sung in our church, as well as others. Written by Keith Getty and Steward Townend in 2001, the lyrics are amazing and truly scriptural fitting. A popular Christian artist named Travis Cottrell does an amazing rendition in singing it.
Please listen to it with the lyrics given. May it change hearts in wanting to know Christ and having a personal relationship with him. The song basically tells the story of Jesus our Lord; it’s my favorite song. In singing it, you don’t even care who’s around or how terrible of a singer you might be. It’s that powerful. When our son died in 2008, I had the praise team sing this at his Memorial service at our church. It was so moving! My family and I know where he is now and who he is with.
If there was one song that you could listen to and know the love of Christ and his redemptive plan for you, this is it.
Christ alone is our salvation, and there is no other. “Neither is their salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).”
Jesus is enough for all that we can hope for, expect and believe in, with no add-ons attached. Christ went to the Cross for you as well as the rest of those (before the Cross and after) who would believe in him. Right before he died, he said: “it is finished.”
The love and gratitude in this was for us. He finished what he came to earth for by dying for us on the Cross. He rose from the dead and is in heaven now at the right hand of God (YHWH). Christ took our place that day—and with that, our sins also.
That “selfless” act paid the debt for us if all would only believe and trust in Him. He rose from the dead, and walked out of the tomb three days later so all could inherit eternal life with him. But some still choose not to.
So:
Believe – John 3:15 “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
Repent – Luke 13:3 “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall likewise perish.”
Confess – Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Read the Scriptures and listen to the song on YouTube with the lyrics, and then contemplate the awesomeness of that. Then give/surrender your life to Christ. Follow him now. Then you will have peace and joy in the Holy Ghost and gain an entrance into heaven one day.
Jesus is enough.
