The Mighty Angels of Revelation

Nathan Jones, my good friend and colleague who serves with Dr. David Reagan’s Lamb and Lion Ministries and is the co-host of the Christ in Prophecy television program, has written what I consider to be the premiere book on Angels. If you don’t have this book nearby to grab and study then you will miss the full scope of what God’s Word has to say about these magnificent creatures.

The information contained therein is stunning in its breadth of exploration and examination. It is, as I have written, the very best, most comprehensive book on the subject that I’ve read.

Nathan asked that I read the book manuscript and consider writing its foreword. His invitation turned out to be not a chore because of work disruption, but a genuine blessing that has edified my study and expanded my biblical vista in ways I’m still discovering.

My foreword begins with the following:

“Angels among us,” (a song by Alabama,) says it all.

Nathan tells of what his family is certain was direct, heavenly intervention by one of God’s messengers. I once would have been somewhat reluctant to believe in such intervention—at least not on a regular basis. However, on April 22, 2011, I faced an angelic cloud of witnesses on three different occasions when my heart stopped three separate times and I was declared clinically dead on arrival by a hospital physician.

That there are angels among us—or perhaps better stated, we are among them—I have absolutely no doubt in the deepest reaches of my spiritual heart since that widow-maker heart attack on that Good Friday of 2011.

But it is not that strangely glorious experience that convinces me now; it is the very Word of God. In that regard, Nathan Jones’ new book focuses intensive enlightenment upon the story of angels found in the Bible.

A devastating car wreck almost killed Nathan’s parents. If not for a lone biker who had stopped at the scene of the accident and administered first aid, some say they would have died before medical help arrived. The only problem: only one person could recollect the biker ever having been there. Their rescuer had mysteriously disappeared without a trace. The only survivor who could remember insisted they must have been rescued not by a mere man, but by an actual angel sent from God.

This jolting event in the life of one family led author Nathan Jones to set off to explore his own skepticism about the possibility that angels were not only real and active in the Bible in the past, but continue to be real and active in our world today. He pondered: Are angels still secretly working among us, serving God as His angelic messengers? Are angels actively involved in directing the affairs of mankind? How do Satan and the demons play into the spiritual warfare raging behind the scenes? And, does God plan to use His mighty angels to reshape the world that is yet to come?

In his pursuit of these questions, Nathan was challenged by a pastor friend, Vic Batista, to seek out one of the greatest sources in the study of angelology–the book of Revelation. With its whopping seventy-two instances of angels, demons, and entire groups of angels and demons, Revelation stands apart from all of the other books in the Bible as the most prolific source for learning about angels.

Revelation contains great insights into the end-times days in which we are living, as well as describes in stunning detail the horrors in which the earth will soon be plunging headlong. Out of this dark tale shines a ray of light, as Revelation’s main purpose is to provide that blessed hope that Christians so desperately need—Jesus Christ is returning soon.

Just a quick perusal of the deeply detailed table of contents to Nathan’s book will give you understanding that this volume is the ultimate work on bringing to light truth about these marvelous beings.

This is a must-have reference book, as well as a thrilling and inspiring read. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Israel, the most hated nation in the world—the most hated nation in history, is also the most beloved. God loves Israel with godly passion that is unmatched. Because of His absolute love for the Jewish people –for the nation—Israel has been and is today the one nation on earth almost all other nations of earth would like to see eradicated.

This is because Lucifer, the fallen one –Satan—wants to destroy Israel, and he is the entity who, for the time being, has a large degree of control over the unregenerate people of this fallen world. He is the father of lies and the lost of this world are his children, according to God’s word. Only when people come to redemption through Jesus Christ are they taken out of the devil’s grip.

God’s prophetic word, the Bible, tells that hatred for Israel will be the way things are until the very end when Satan’s dictator, Antichrist, will seek to totally destroy the Jewish people. We have seen the beginnings of that end times destructive action.

Even in America, the nation that has been the most pro-Israel, has of late shown great growth in anti-Semitism –hatred for the Jewish race and for their country, Israel.

Because I couldn’t explain the truth about the hatred for Israel going on any better than does this article, I’ll use this excerpt to illustrate.

Anti-Semitism has always existed in the world. There has never been a time when the Jewish People have not been victimized by Satan’s savage attacks against them. Even today in America—probably the least anti-Semitic nation on earth, the Anti-Defamation League reports the highest level of anti- Semitism since World War II.

At its core is Satan fomenting hatred among men against the Children of the God of Israel, generation after generation. He cleverly disguises each campaign with a compelling lie wrapped in a plan designed to rid the world of a perceived ill blamed on the Jews. From the very first attempt to destroy the Jews—Pharaoh’s murder of all the male Hebrew babies—to Herod’s order to kill all male babies under 2 years old two thousand years ago, the serpent’s scheme was to defeat God’s plan to bring forth the Messiah of Israel. He failed—miserably! Yet, the campaign of hatred marches on because the great redemption story is not over. Because the Jewish People and Israel play a major role in Last Days prophecy, Satan is still hard at work opposing God’s plan. The impetus he is using to rally hatred against the Jew today is a powerful anti-Israel (and pro-Palestinian) deception, wrapped in false humanitarian claims and causes. Understand: Deception is a hallmark of the Last Days (Matthew 24:11). For the minuscule size of the country, the lack of natural resources, or strategic seaport, one has to question why Israel is always at the center of world controversy—her existence continually hanging in the balance. We see Israel at the epicenter of a boiling cauldron of increasingly violent factions rising up within the vast Arab lands surrounding her. The world has been told, and has almost mindlessly accepted, claims that all unrest in the Middle East is Israel’s fault—that if the Jews would give the Land “back to the Palestinians” there would be peace in the world and terrorism would end. Nothing could be further from the truth. At the same time anti-Semitism is on the rise as an indicator that this generation is nearing the end of the Church Age, there has arisen another indicator that further solidifies my belief of just how near might be the Tribulation era, thus the Rapture of the Church which will precede that horrific time for all humanity.

There is a call going out today that is like a magnet. We have witnessed the Call since the fall of the Berlin Wall and beyond. God is causing the release of His beloved people from around the world.

An article came across my desk pinpointing this Call that is being issued by Jewish clerics.

In a rare consensus, an impressive array of some of the most prominent rabbis of this generation came together in a declaration saying that there are no longer any valid excuses: Jews must act on the Torah commandment to move to Israel.

The consensus came as the first stage in an ongoing multi-faceted project initiated by Joshua Wander, a resident of the Mount of Olives. This stage was timed to coincide with the week in which Jews around the world read the section of the Torah in which God tells Abraham to leave his father’s land.

This miracle nation called Israel, presently so hated and reviled, is slated for Glory beyond any other experienced by a people or its homeland. They have God’s word on it.

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.” (Isa. 11:11)
