A powerful storm swept through the U.S. East Coast on Monday with damaging winds and heavy rains, downing multiple trees and power lines and producing several tornadoes. Texas drought conditions expected to continue, impact felt in some sectors of agriculture. The most recent drought monitor shows every county in Central Texas is experiencing some level of drought. For cattle farmers, the outlook longer-term in regards to drought conditions will be a particular concern.

In Alaska, record heavy rainfall caused flooding and devastating landslide. Two people remain missing after the slide about 600 feet wide came down a mountain in Haines on Wednesday after heavy rains inundated much of southeast Alaska. Numerous other, smaller slides were also reported. At least four homes have been destroyed and numerous others damaged in Haines.

Massive floods claimed 3 lives in Sardinia; rare tornado hit Catania, Italy. At least three people lost their lives while two others remain missing after severe storms hit the Italian island of Sardinia, triggering massive floods and landslides on Nov 27-28. Meanwhile, a rare November tornado caused damage to Catania Airport in Sicily on Nov 28.

Worst flood in 50 years affects more than 500,000 people in southern Thailand. Widespread, severe flooding has killed at least nine people and affected 210,000 households or more than half a million people.

Major flooding leaves 5 dead, 6,000 people affected in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Heavy rainfall since Thursday night, Dec 3, has caused four rivers to burst, flooding nearby houses and streets.

Extensive flooding submerged the city of Sao Carlos in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Nov 26, resulting in damage to properties and hundreds of rescues that prompted authorities to declare a state of emergency. Up to 138 mm (5.4 inches) of rain fell in less than an hour, nearly equivalent to the average rainfall for the whole month of November.

Europe: Major winter storm forecast over the Alps: Extreme rain and snowstorm with severe flooding and avalanches expected on Sunday. A major winter storm has emerged over the Alps – parts of northeast Italy, and south Austria are forecast to receive an additional extreme amount of rain and snow over the next 36 hours.
