Murder, Mayhem and Perversion :: By Jim Towers

The fabric of our society is being torn to shreds by scurrilous politicians, celebrities, liars, radicals, sexual perverts and greedy people out to scam people of their hard-earned money. Today, murder, mayhem and sexual perversion are so pervasive in our society that hardly anyone notices anymore, and it seems like everyone is only out to fend for themselves. Even some who call themselves Christians are becoming hardened to this truth.

Politicians and celebrities lead the way (they, because of their notoriety, are prominent in the news), but you can rest assured that ALL of society is under the sway of demonic forces. We Christians must hold fast to the truths and promises of the Bible.

Having worked with many celebrities, I can assure you that they are no different than you and me; they want it all and will do most anything to get it. As far as promiscuity and perversion is involved, the same statistics apply to the common man. We are hard-wired to sin.

Even among those who profess to be Christians are institutionalized zombies – who still insist on living life in the fast lane and love pleasure and money more than they love God – who ignore the passage that says, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mind, soul and strength; and thy neighbor as thyself.” Other sanctimonious and self- righteous Christians who should know better also practice perversion and apathy; and some are even addicted to drugs or illicit sex.

On another front: The network news, as well as fake news, takes a different turn each day. With the advent of the internet, social media and news outlets, news travels fast; and because of that, we’ve become immune to all we see and hear. It won’t be long until all of our God-given rights and freedoms will be taken away by the ruthless tyrant known as the Antichrist, whom I believe walks among us even as we speak.

Backbiters, liars, pedophiles and atheists rule the day, and the love of many has grown cold. Children are disobedient to their parents, and parents are ignoring the cries of their children for help while they pursue life’s pleasures. Self-mutilation, suicide and opioid use are on the rise among young people. What a sad and tragic society we live in!

What with all the murders taking place in schools and even churches now, many common folks carry guns—and rightfully so. Fear has a firm grip on society. But, in spite of all that’s going on in the world, we are called to be salt and light to others. There is not a person whom I’ve talked to recently who doesn’t believe something sinister lies on the horizon, and the Gospel gives them something to cling to; it gives them hope.

The spiritual person can see everything falling into line in fulfillment of biblical prophecy. All the pieces are coming together like a giant puzzle. The un-regenerated person can’t see this truth because he is blinded by Satan. When we refuse to admit that our country and the world at large is convulsing with chaos and confusion, we do so at our own peril.

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come…” (John 16:13, King James Version).

I don’t mean to pontificate, as if I was a perfect person; but in spite of my frailties I must do so.
People today are being given over to a reprobate mind, and it’s not looking good for our country. There seem to be random killings and thuggery everywhere you look. We are, like it or not, facing judgment dead in the face, and it’s only a matter of time before God gives up on us to do what we want; and in so doing, we will destroy ourselves and our country. God forbid. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “We must all repent and turn to God before we too become captives of the Evil One.”

Could it be that the angels of God are out marking people as they separate the sheep from the goats in the end times, as described in the book of Revelation? If that is the case, then we should be ever vigilant and drawing nearer to God with all expediency.

The next door neighbor was still cleaning up the mess in his back yard left by Hurricane Irma, and was listening to music with ear buds in his ears when I encountered him from across the fence. I jokingly asked if he was listening to the Beatles; and as he took out one of the ear buds, he cracked a grin and said with disdain, “Beatles? Heck no! I’m listening to Dementia.” Then he added with a sarcastic grin, “A lot of screaming!”

Such is the name of a group I have never heard of before. The devilish screaming and cursing is a reflection of the angst young people feel today. Because they have no hope, many become addicted to drugs or commit suicide. We Christians, through the Holy Spirit, are the only thing keeping our country from falling apart.

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you” (John 15:16).

The harvest fields are ripe for harvest; and with nowhere else to turn, people are more than willing to hear about the things of God, especially the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Talking to people everywhere I go, I know this first hand. And I make no bones about my faith, since I know that “Fear of man is a dangerous trap,” and “Faith without works is dead.”
I would be afraid like others, but since I have the Comforter living in me I sleep like a baby.
P.S. I may have found a publisher in Whitaker House Publishing, thanks to Michael Milner and his good wife, who was once their chief editor. Pray that my book gets published, since it will give others hope for a miracle or at least something to think about…that God is very real, and you can call on Him 24/7. He stands at the door and knocks, waiting for you to let Him in.

Flipping Out on Facebook :: By Jim Towers

Have you noticed that social media is becoming infested with people who are argumentative and filled with hate? It is filled with various other people who harbor assorted agendas. Many are seeking attention or trying to fill the void in their lives by other than spiritual means – because they don’t have God in their lives. Hate and violence are beginning to rear their ugly heads on the Internet. Expletives which were never used before are being used on a regular basis, the F- bomb right along with them. Some of these people are flipping out – right on Facebook.

Anything and everything can be said on the Internet. Hackers, traitors and Muslim extremists are making good use of this resource. How much frightening information and/or misinformation and outright lies can a human mind endure?

While many non-Christians and Atheists are flipping out today (We’ve all seen their antics on television and the like), we believers of the Bible can take heart. We, of all other people, have the assurance that God has our back. “I shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” With so much bad news, this is imperative in today’s information age.

A perfect example of this is our president who tweets on an almost daily basis. Our thin-skinned president takes on all comers and destroys them – that’s what I like about him. It’s been said that he’s crazy – I say crazy like a fox! If he didn’t resort to his twitter rants, the mainstream news media would twist his words around to write something he really didn’t say. He’s got the self-important news reporters over a log.

Some of us can contend with the assault of information bombarding us, while others simply can’t handle it. Others prefer living under a rock. In some ways it’s best for them to do so simply for peace of mind. There are plenty of others though, who for one reason or another join in the conversations of the day. This is going on more and more as we all have something to say and are becoming more vocal.

On Facebook there are many self-styled news brokers and evangelicals in different stages of spiritual growth. Many religious women have come to the fore plying their brand of Christianity on the masses. You have to wonder if they ever leave the chairs in front of their computers to go to the bathroom. They must really think they are God’s gift to others while pontificating on the web.

Albeit, I too have made it my mission to minister to my Facebook “friends.” (I supposedly have over 430 of them, but there’s no way of being sure). Last night, a certain young man posted a rambling message about how he was feeling. In doing so, he used the F-bomb in accusing someone or another of making his life miserable, and then he added this: “You don’t know what’s going on in my head.”

My contention is that the young man, whose posts I had read before, was flipping out on Facebook. I wrote back trying to use tact, saying, “Jesus knows what you are feeling, and he will alleviate all your fears and give you a peace that surpasses all understanding. Ask Him to come into your heart and life and to give you the peace he offers.” The information age is taking its toll, and there are many wolves in sheep’s clothing out in cyber space.

I recently did this with a devout Jewish young man, and we were communicating effectively until two other well-meaning Christian ladies intervened with their “holier than thou” attitude, and he drifted away. But he knows and likes me, and we may continue to have our insightful and thought-provoking conversations by some other means.

I work out at a local gym every other day, and I rarely if ever speak to anyone since most are there to exercise and not to socialize.

A young and pudgy, unkempt lady about thirty years old came over to the stationary bike next to mine. She placed a Jehovah’s Witness Bible (New World Translation) in the holding tray and left to get something before commencing her workout. I had just finished up my cardiovascular workout and proceeded to the locker room.

As I was leaving I stopped by to warn the unkempt young lady that the JW was a cult and had just written about them on a Christian website. I gave her my card, unconcerned that my phone number was on it. She called later in the day and asked if she could send me a video. I didn’t know what to expect, and after I hem-hawed around, I finally relented.

The video was of her praying for others but never mentioning Jesus Christ – a New Age religion. As she finished, she went into a trancelike state and began to speak in rhythmic tongues. She was obviously a very confused young lady. I must admit that this one may be too far gone. The best I can do is pray for her deliverance. What a world we live in!

I was surprised to learn that there were so many writers out there, and anyone can get their book published for a price, no matter how bad it is. I’ve encountered my share and had to turn them down since they never even read what I sent them. But just when I was losing hope in finding a legitimate publisher, a reader of my articles introduced me to a publisher who is not a vanity publisher like so many others. Now I have to wait patiently to hear his prognosis.

Lately, I’ve been encountering various trials, and as you can imagine, it can be very disheartening; but it is to my benefit in building character, engendering patience and endurance.

If I’m to believe Scripture, I have to trust in the Word of God where it says, “All things work together to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.”

Previously, I always believed the verse that says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” And so I always plunged right in to every endeavor. Now, I have to believe that God’s timing is best, and sometimes He just says, no.
