The Parting Shot :: By Greg May

Before leaving office, President Obama did what many feared he would do and what the White House had implied it might do one day—instruct America’s ambassador to the United Nations to abandon Israel.

The context of the U.N. resolution was to condemn the Jewish state. U.N. resolutions condemning Israel are nothing new. In fact, of all the nations in the world including dictator states, terrorist states and states given to mass murder of its own citizens, it is the tiny democratic nation of Israel that has been condemned by the United Nations more than any other nation.

What was unique about that particular resolution was its extremity. It began by claiming that Israel had no right to Jerusalem, but it went further. It declared that Jerusalem was “Palestinian territory.” Beyond that, it alleged that Israel was an “occupying power.”

Obama shocked the world by refusing to veto the resolution by allowing it to go through. Beyond that, the evidence was manifold that he actually took part in engineering the bill and pushing it to approval. It was all seen as Obama’s “parting shot” at Israel and its leader Benjamin Netanyahu, whom Obama had often publicly attacked in the press.

Beyond that is the matter of end-time prophecy.

In Zechariah 12, it is written that in the last days God will make Jerusalem a “cup of reeling” and a “burdensome stone.” All nations that try to move it will be injured. That over 2,000 years later Jerusalem still exists, is still in the news and is the center of world controversy, is amazing and a powerful witness that we are living in the last days and the Bible is the Word of God.

But that America as directed by Obama took part in opposing Israel over Jerusalem is ominous.  For it is written that those who try to “move” Jerusalem will be injured. At the same time, the incoming president—Donald Trump—promised to strongly support Israel and to move America’s embassy to Jerusalem.

Such a move will be historic.

Standing in the way of such a move is Obama’s last waiver which prevents any such action being taken until its expiration this month. June 2017 will mark the 50th Anniversary of the liberation of Jerusalem in the Six Day War and its restoration to the Jewish people, and thus a Jubilee.

We must pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for the salvation of His ancient people, and for the United States and that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

The Barbarians Are Here :: By Greg May

What is the definition of a barbarian?

barbarian is someone who is not part of our civilization and wants no part of our civilization. A barbarian seeks the conquest and destruction of our civilization. Islamists are Muslims who seek to restructure all governments and society in accordance with the laws of Islam.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and will overtake Christianity as the most popular before the end of the century. There are 1.6 billion Muslims making up 23% of the world’s population compared to 2.2 billion Christians worldwide.

Dr. Michael Youseff’s new book, The Barbarians Are Here uncovers the truth regarding the only solution to the threat of political Islam: a New Reformation that will restore the hope of Western civilization.

The Muslim world always seemed far away, remote and irrelevant to our daily lives.  Then came the 9/11 terrorist attack that made Americans suddenly realize that the world had become a dangerous place and America was vulnerable to the rage of barbarians. Today the barbarians occupy our culture, they are in our legislatures making laws and they sit on our school boards and teach in our classrooms.

The barbarians are among us and this is no mere accident of history.

The Islamic religion was founded in the seventh century by Mohammad and its goal has always been to establish a world empire or global Caliphate.  Islam didn’t spread the way Christianity did by free will evangelical appeal – Islam was spread by the sword as hordes of Islamic warriors conquered vast stretches of land across the Middle East, North Africa and parts of Europe.  In Muslim-conquered lands Christian boys were taken from their parents . reared as Muslims and forced to serve the armies of Islam.

The Ottomans were defeated by the Holy Roman Empire at the Battle of Vienna on September 11, 1683.  That victory saved Western civilization from destruction.  Isn’t it interesting how the Ottomon Empire ceased to be a threat to Christendom on September 11 and – 318 years later – on September 11, 2001 America woke up to smoke billowing from the mortally-wounded towers of the World Trade Center.

Jesus commanded us to preach the gospel to every nation – but only to those who come willingly and freely.  Unlike the barbarian Islamic cult who make converts at the point of a sword, Christians do not conquer in the name of Christ through murder, war and terror.

Today, Islamic revivalists believe the ancient prophecies of a global Caliphate are finally within reach as Middle East oil wealth fuels their dreams of conquest since the Islamic takeover of Iran in 1979 and the rapid expansion and battlefield success of ISIS.

In his book Dr. Youseff reveals how terrorism is our exile as God has handed over a rebellious and unfaithful Western culture to be shaken just as Israel was shaken during their captivity in Babylon.

When we are unfaithful and will not repent, God has no choice but to hand us over to our enemies to be shaken and oppressed.

History repeats itself but we haven’t learned the lessons of history.  We have forgotten our past and now we seem condemned to repeat it. God has promised to heal our land if we turn to Him, humble ourselves, pray and turn from our wicked ways.

“If My people, Who are called by My name will humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

The barbarians are here and we are vulnerable. Satan has used the mainstream media to blind our nation – even among professing Christians – to the ideology of radical Islamists and the plight of those oppressed by it. We cannot be afraid to speak the Truth, even when our culture is doing everything it can to distort and ignore reality.

Only the Good News of Jesus Christ can melt a barbarian’s heart.
