The Existence and Reality of Almighty God :: By Dr. Donald Whitchard

John 3:16, Psalm 139:7, Ezekiel 18:23, Revelation 19:6, Psalm 14:1

Summary: Our series on the vital doctrines of Holy Scripture continues as we look at the reality, power, and other characteristics of the Sovereign Lord God Almighty.

The Scriptures proclaim and assume the existence of God. It is a fact taken for granted, and to deny Him is utter nonsense (Psalm 14:1; 53:1). There is a universal belief deep within every person that a Divine, Supernatural Being exists from the external evidence of the world around us and the inner convictions that we possess. Romans 1:18-23 tells us of this work referred to as “general revelation.”

This is also the foundation for the basic scientific principle of “cause and effect.” Everything that began owes its existence to a cause. If there is a watch, there is a watchmaker; if there is a building, there had to be a builder; and if there is a creation, logic dictates that there must be a Creator. There is absolutely no sensible explanation for coming into existence without the work of an intelligent, personal Creator who is outside of the limits of time, space, and matter.

The earth, universe, and all scientific principles of natural law and function have to come not only from a source of what some people refer to as “Intelligent Design” but from a Designer who is personal, compassionate and has put this universe and its specific elements into place for a reason and with a goal set in mind for its operation, function, and inevitable conclusion, having served its meaning and purpose for the Creator’s satisfaction.

Along with the structure and function of the world and space, there is also the reality of law, order, moral structure, and ethical behavior found within the completed work. The Creator also has the role of being the Moral Lawgiver if life is to have a sense of civility and generally acceptable behavior for the successful function of a people or nation. All of these attributes are the product of an all-powerful, all-knowing, and always present First Cause that the Scriptures refer to as Almighty God.

The Scriptures describe God as “the God who loves us” (John 3:16) and that there are things which He hates (Proverbs 6:16). He cares for us (2 Peter 5:7), and He can become grieved over the sinful affairs of humanity (Genesis 6:6). Only a Personality can have these traits. He is a loving, eternal, personal Being whom the Bible also describes as “light” (1 John 1:5), and in Him, there is no darkness. His holiness is all-consuming (Hebrews 12:29). He is the Author of Life (John 5:26), with all power, intelligence, and everywhere present (Psalm 139:7, 147:5; Revelation 19:6).

This all-powerful, loving God has also made it possible for you to know Him and have fellowship with Him by means of His Beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who came to this world to live among us and take upon Himself our sins and wickedness that keep us from God. His death on the cross paid our sin debt in full. And through faith in Him, asking Him to forgive us of our sins, giving our lives to Him, and surrendering to His will for our lives, we have the promise and certainty of eternal life with Him, free from the condemnation of sin, death, and hell (Matthew 11:28-30; John 10:28-30, 14:1-6; Roman’s 5:6-11, 8:37-39).

What a wonderful promise from our Great God and Savior!

We will continue our journey through the doctrines of the faith as we next look at the grace of God and His provision for our undeserved salvation.

My YouTube broadcasts titled “The Reality City Review” will be posted on Facebook, GETTR, Parler, and on my website when completed. My main area of discussion will be on the basics of the Christian faith but will also deal with prophetic issues and other topics as the Lord impresses upon me to handle.

Oh, How I Wish I Had Listened :: By Susan Mouw

The bread line stretches far to my right as I stand and wait to receive
My daily allotment of bread, and weak coffee that no one will drink.
The guards stand silently around so no one will create a scene.
No, we all just shuffle silently forward to get our rations, so lean.

Those who are able then go to work where the officials direct them to go.
If they’re lucky, they’ll even collect a paycheck, though it will be so pitifully low.
But it doesn’t really matter. There are no bills, no mortgages to pay.
We live in government housing, and in our lives, we have no say.

We are not the exception – not the few dishonored and left poor.
Oh no! This New World includes everyone, even those who once had so much more.
My family, at least what is left of them, have lost all and now can only try
To understand how this all came to be. What changed? And why?

It all started last year when everyone was running scared
Of this virus that was spreading far and wide, and no one was prepared.
Then, we woke up one dark morning, hoping soon all would again be right.
Only to learn of the millions that were missing. Taken from their homes during the night.

The officials quickly stepped in. “See, we warned you!” they loudly proclaim.
They took control of everything, and now nothing is the same.
Oh, if I had only listened to my brother before he disappeared that strange night.
He foretold this all was coming. He shared this vision of Light.

Of light that pierced the deepest darkness. Of light that knew no sin.
Of light that shone brightly through his eyes and left its mark on him.
Not like the mark we now all carry. No, this came from deep within.
A surety of safety and joy, of salvation from this world gone dim.

Oh, how I wished I had listened. Before it became too late.
Listened to his tale of salvation, before I accepted this fate.

I look around me at the length of the breadline, and at the guards, standing tall and strong.
And pray, once again, that this Jesus hears me. And forgives me for being so wrong.
