Being Hypocritically Accused :: By Bill Wilson

Sexual harassment is the new Russia. Everywhere you look, there are stories about sexual harassment. Congress and Hollywood both expect more women to come forward. And in most cases, just like the accusations about Russia, the accuser is the one who is doing the deed. Think about it. Hillary Clinton was the most vocal about the current president doing underhanded deals with Russia. So far, nothing has been revealed about President Trump’s dealings with Russia, but a lot has been revealed about Clinton’s pay for influence deals with Russia. Clinton and her ilk were also most vocal about women’s rights, yet they are now on the defensive about sexual assault–Hypocritical accusers, all.

Strangely enough, the liberals, the ones who speak the loudest against the misogyny and chauvinism of the conservative, are among the most egregious violators of women’s rights—the men being accused of sexual harassment by dozens upon dozens of women. And the female protectors of women’s rights, such as Nancy Pelosi has accused the women of of purposely victimizing Democratic male officeholders for their alleged sexual assaults and harassments. Hillary Clinton has done the same for decades—just ask the 18 or so women who were victims of her husband’s inappropriate sexual exploits, or the victims of Anthony Weiner, Clinton aide Huma Abedin’s estranged husband.

Liberals often are the quickest to judge their political opposition for even the slightest accusation. In reality, however, it is often the accuser who is committing worse than the accused. It’s really called bearing false witness as well as judging others. Of course, many would give them a pass because they are not practicing Christians or Jews. Notwithstanding, we have seen Hillary Clinton toting a Bible when it is advantageous. Nancy Pelosi has often claimed to be following the Catholic doctrine—yet she promotes abortion and defends men in the Democratic Party accused of sexual harassment. In their eyes Republican candidate Roy Moore, now accused of something that allegedly happened 40 years ago, is guilty.

A lot is written in the Bible about false accusations and judging others hypocritically. Certainly, believers are held to a higher standard, but nonbelievers are not without accountability. In Romans 1, Paul writes about those who profess themselves wise, and change the glory of the “uncorruptible God” into an image made like to corruptible man. Paul lists the characteristics of these people—both male and female—and says they are without excuse. Verse 32 says, “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Romans 2:3 continues: “And think you this, O man, that judges them which do such things, and does the same, that you shall escape the judgment of God?” Surely these will have their reward.

Your Good Citizenship Matters :: By Bill Wilson

There is much discussed and written about how the United States is under judgment and how the nation needs to repent. The news media and politicians usually are angered greatly by these assertions. “Certainly, it is those right wing Christian lunatics at it again,” they might say. Everyone and anyone has license to ridicule those who believe that the moral decay of our nation found across political parties as well as entertainment, media, business, education and other fields could be reasons that our nation is facing sure financial crisis, a media crisis, a breakdown of the family, a marriage crisis, a murder crisis, especially of the unborn, and continuous threat from Islamic terrorists.

In all fairness, perhaps Christians too often attribute this condition to God when much of the problems of this nation have been brought on by ourselves–we, as citizens. There are just certain principles that apply. If you spend more than you take in, you are in debt; if you allow the breakdown of the family structure, your society will reflect it; if your choices go against good wisdom, there are consequences. Enough people doing the wrong things can bring down an entire society. There is also a collective nature to a society that God judges as a reflection of the people. Now is when people hit the unsubscribe button and run out of the room screaming, “I’m a good person. I didn’t support these rogues. Its not my fault.”

Nations endure difficulties because the people of the nation, and God’s people specifically, are not living righteously. The nation suffers because of the condition of the people, and the nation also suffers because of the condition of the leadership. One good example is found in Ezekiel 22:30, “And I sought for a man among them, that should build up the wall, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” Another is Proverbs 29:2, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn.” You see, both people and leaders share responsibility.

Set aside politics and the United States. Let’s look at the Kingdom of God. If followers of the Messiah do not impact their society, what will that society look like? Jesus told us in Matthew 5:13, “You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.” He later says that we are the light of the world, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” These are commands for action. It is those who know Jesus who are to impact the world. Good citizenship in the Kingdom of God translates to good citizenship in your nation. When it is not exercised in deed and in accountability, the nation declines or faces the consequences of its actions.
