Also, an area of roughly 50-100 miles over parts of the northern Plains and Upper Midwest may separate severe thunderstorm and tornado watches and warnings with winter storm and blizzard watches and warnings.
Fire chief killed, emergency manager injured, homes destroyed in Nebraska wildfire. On Friday, a wildfire led to the death of a fire chief and left multiple families homeless. The cause of the fire was a result of strong winds blowing a dead tree into a power line. “Then, it took off through the hills and the canyons and the fields.” The wildfire consumed at least 30,000 acres, destroyed at least eight houses and 48 outbuildings, killed livestock, and prompted the evacuation of a village of more than 150 people.
The Texas drought is the worst in years, since 2011 when 95% of the state was in drought. Gantz said that security forces have already made some 200 arrests and “if necessary, there will be thousands” in order to prevent future attacks.

As polls show Macron is the favorite to secure another five years in power, Europe is in even greater need of direction than in 2017. The war in Ukraine has fundamentally changed European attitudes to security spending and underscored Europe’s over-reliance on Russian energy. It has also reminded those opposed to Putin, both inside and outside the EU, of the importance of remaining united in the face of an adversary. For that unity and focus to remain, Europe needs someone who is willing to provide that political leadership and take others with them. In theory, the French President should be well placed to take this job. His supporters say Macron is perfectly positioned to lead Europe through its next phase.
