Jimmy DeYoung graduated from Tennessee Temple University. Following his schooling, he joined with Jack Wyrtzen and Harry Bollback at Word of Life Fellowship in Schroon Lake, NY. He served there for 12 years in many staff positions including staff evangelist, host of Word of Life Inn, and producer of radio programs heard worldwide. For five years, Jimmy was the vice president and general manager of New York City’s first Christian radio station, WNYM. During this time, he was the producer and host of a daily talk program in the number-one media market in America. Then, in 1996, he received his doctorate from Temple University.
Since 1991, Jimmy and his wife, Judy, have been residing in Jerusalem, where they are fully credentialed journalists in the second-most populated journalistic city in the world. Arriving there just three days prior to the Gulf Crisis, they weathered 39 SCUD attacks. Jimmy gave live reports nationwide on several networks during that time, and he remains in the center of what is considered the media “hot spot” of our time, the Middle East.
During speaking tours in the United States and Europe, Jimmy brings with him the latest news and updates from the Middle East with a unique mix of political, biblical and prophetic insight that can’t be found in the media today. Looking back on the years since the rebirth of Israel, Dr. DeYoung says:
As I reflect over the modern-day state of Israel, I find it difficult to remember what the world community had to talk about before the re-birth of the Jewish nation. The focus of the leaders of not only the major nations in our world, but the smallest states as well are watching the events unfolding here in the Middle East. I stand every day and am able to touch the reality of God as I have personal contact with God’s chosen people, the Jewish people, now living in the land of Israel. Jimmy can be seen on the television program, Day of Discovery, over a network of 300 stations in the major markets of America. He is also heard weekly on radio, with reports from the Middle East, on several networks consisting of over 900 radio stations.
He is a noted prophecy teacher and conference speaker in the United States and Europe, and devotes several months of the year to this conference ministry. As a part of his ministry, he has written and produced several audio and video materials, including his best seller, Ready to Rebuild, and his brand-new, two-hour hour video, The Daniel Papers, which can be viewed along with a study guide. This video explains Daniel’s calculations for the coming of the Messiah, his outline of the end times, and his description of the coming seven years of tribulation.
He continues to expand his ministry with the most up-to-date information on current events and their relationship to prophecy, in his newsletter Until and the brand new weekly audio digest, Prophetic Prospective. In his most recent book, Sound the Trumpets, Jimmy DeYoung brings two indispensable elements together. As an experienced journalist, he accurately reports the facts concerning what is taking place in Israel and surrounding countries. But of even greater importance to Bible-believing Christians, he provides a biblical and prophetic perspective on the events now shaping history.
Also available by Jimmy DeYoung are various audio series regarding the end times and Israel. One example of those series is the five-hour teaching entitled Age of Antichrist. It is broken down into five segments called “The Empire Beast,” “The Emperor Beast,” “The Ecclesiastical Babylon,” and the “Exalted Beast.”
One concern of Dr. DeYoung’s is that as society rushes toward that final day, evangelism is not becoming easier, as one might expect, but rather, is becoming much more difficult. “As the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians rages on, the violence is having an impact on evangelism in the Holy Land,” DeYoung said. “Christians are doing more to reach out because there’s a sense of urgency. There are many Christians, I’m talking about Israeli citizens who know Christ as Lord and Savior and they’re witnessing to friends and neighbors as well and that’s exciting to see. They realize the urgency of the moment.” When appealing to people to pray for the protection of believers in the Palestinian Authority and Israel, DeYoung said this: “Palestinian or Jewish Christians are under attack by Islamic fundamentalists who want to rid the world of Christianity as well as any right to have freedom to spread the Gospel.”
Jimmy DeYoung also believes that the Ark of the Covenant must be found in order for the Jewish people to build the Temple. “I believe it is underneath the Temple Mount,” said DeYoung while being interviewed by John Ankerberg. “I have talked to two men, two very prestigious rabbis, who said they came within inches of bringing the Ark of the Covenant out. One man said he took a mirror, looked around a wall and saw the Ark of the Covenant.”
