A 5.9 magnitude earthquake happened at 3:49 p.m. Thursday and was centered in the Coleville area on the California side, South of Gardnerville, according to the USGS. The quake was felt throughout Carson City and the region. The USGS reports there were other earthquakes that followed, including a 4.2 magnitude, a 3.7, a 3.5, 3.4 magnitude and a 3.1 magnitude. The Nevada Seismological Laboratory reports at least 20 earthquakes since the initial first earthquake hit.
