Single-dose drug protects against all forms of Ebola
Although Ebola vaccines have been developed, each one has typically only been able to protect against a single strain of the virus. A new medication, however, has been shown to ward off all types of Ebola – and it does so via just one low dose. Known as MBP134, the “two-antibody cocktail” was developed by scientists at the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Lieberman’s ZTE work makes him a foreign agent, complaint says
Former Sen. Joe Lieberman should register as a foreign agent for his work on behalf of embattled Chinese telecommunications company ZTE Corp., according to a complaint filed Tuesday with the Justice Department by the Campaign Legal Center. Lieberman filed as a lobbyist last month for the company, which is facing scrutiny over alleged national security threats its products pose to the U.S. Under federal law, lobbyists for foreign commercial clients are exempted from the Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA.

Russian Defense Ministry proposes law to allow shooting down of passenger planes
Russia’s Defense Ministry has outlined draft legislation that would allow Russian forces to shoot down civilian passenger planes within the country’s airspace. The draft document placed on the government’s list of proposed legislation says passenger planes that cross into Russian airspace without authorization and do not answer warning signals or respond to warning shots can be shot down if they are deemed to pose a threat of mass deaths, ecological catastrophe, or an assault on strategic targets.

Chinese Huawei exec arrested on espionage charges in Poland
Poland on Friday confirmed that it has arrested an executive from Chinese tech giant Huawei, and a Polish national, on charges of spying for China. The telecommunications company Huawei is already heavily scrutinized by the United States for allegations that it uses its equipment for espionage.

Report: IDF strikes Iranian, Hezbollah targets near Damascus
The Syrian air defense system is dealing with hostile targets over Damascus, the official Syrian news agency SANA reported. Explosions were also reported in the skies of the Syrian capital. Syrian air defense units fired on enemy targets above Damascus and destroyed several, state news agency SANA said late on Friday. It was not immediately clear if the targets were missiles or planes. Video footage showed explosions above the city.

Sudan worshippers turn on imam over protests against President Bashir
An influential Sudanese imam had to be removed from a mosque in the capital, Khartoum, after worshippers confronted him for not leading protests against embattled President Omar al-Bashir. In a video shared on social media, a man appears to shout at imam Abdul Hai Yusuf, who often backs the government: “Get up and lead us from this mosque!” A frantic crowd then chants “downfall [of the regime] only”.

Yellow Vest Protesters Destroy 60 Percent of France’s Speed Cameras
Members of the yellow vest movement in France have reportedly vandalized and destroyed more than half of the country’s speed cameras. A spokesman for the French Ministry of the Interior told CNN that 60 percent of France’s speed cameras, about 3,200 in total, have been vandalized since November, threatening road safety and putting people’s lives at risk.

China’s premier says tax cuts support employment, economic stability
China’s plans for tax cuts targeting smaller companies will help to support employment and economic stability, and will expand the country’s tax base over the long term, Premier Li Keqiang was quoted as saying on Saturday. “Implementing tax cuts for small and micro enterprises is mainly to support employment,” Li said in comments posted on the Chinese government’s website.
