A new report in Middle East Eye says Pastor Andrew Brunson could very soon be released from Turkish detention after months of immense US pressure on Ankara has sent the Turkish lira into a nosedive. In the past weeks the issue has been out of the public eye compared to the heated and seemingly constant back and forth between US and Turkish leaders concerning the detained American citizen over the summer.

Cardinal Cupich Has Removed Chicago Priest Who Burned Rainbow Flag
The removal was announced by Cupich himself through a letter to the many staff and parishioners of Resurrection Church located in the Avondale neighborhood of the city. Kalchik was helped by a few parishioners during the burning. Kalchik, who is 56 years old, and a few congregation members set fire to the rainbow banner, an LGBTQ pride symbol which was once displayed prominently in the church. The flag was set on fire despite a strict order of the Chicago archdiocese to desist from doing so.

China’s communist government is conducting overt and covert influence operations aimed at swaying the upcoming November elections in a bid to undermine President Trump, the president disclosed on Wednesday. “Regrettably, we found that China has been attempting to interfere in our upcoming 2018 election coming up in November against my administration,” Trump said during a session of the U.N. Security Council in New York. “They do not want me, or us, to win because I am the first president ever to challenge China on trade. And we are winning on trade. We are winning at every level. We don’t want them to meddle or interfere in our upcoming election.” Trump says friendship with Xi Jinping may be over.

The IMF plans to boost its 36-month financing package to $57.1bn (£43bn) from $50bn announced previously. It will make about $50bn in credit available though 2019 – $19bn more than previously anticipated.
